Cheryl chuckled. ``It's alright. They didn't do it on purpose.`` She said, a small bit of herself crawling back into her voice. She looked up and smiled, wiping her eyes. She grinned. ``Everyone deserves a second chance.``
Cheryl faultered when Apollo held out his hand. Her face turned a mild shade of pink and she grabbed it, ber brain melting. ``You wanted to show me something?`` she asked. ``Oh my lord, is it one of your unicorn cousins? They live in forests, right? I bet you do. You seem like a woodsy guy,`` she said, giggling a bit. Cheryl was still holding onto his hand, mildly hoping he wouldn't notice. She grinned with a grin that was half smitten with content.

"Er, well, you're not wrong." Apollo said, chuckling. "Some relatives and family friends do live in a cabin tucked away on the way here, but that's not what I wanted to show you." He didn't mind Cheryl holding his hand, she was much warmer than the heat pocket, which he held in the other. Plus, friends hold hand, right? That was normal.
He lead Cheryl through the trees in a seemingly random path and direction. There was no rhyme or reason to any of the many twists and turns that were on Apollo's course, however eventually they reached their destination. "That is what I wanted to show you." He pointed to a tall cliff that had a waterfall crashing off of it. Or, what would be a waterfall once is warmed up. Right now it was frozen, a glittering statue of threads of water that had frozen with the chilling temperatures. It was in a clearing of the forest, the sun cast rainbows around the rocks as it beamed through the ice. A sakura tree grew up on one of the cliff's ledges and the waterfall itself lead to a gleaming frozen river. Beneath the water seemed to be endless ice, although every now and then you could see a fish's shimmery scales beneath the surface. Flowering lilypads were also trapped in the icy depths, their pink flowers casting dancing reflections in the ice.
"Pretty, isn't it?" Apollo said, sliding down onto the river. "The ice is thick enough to walk on so don't worry about falling in." He looked up at the waterfall, smiling. "I'm not really sure if this place has a name or not, or even if other people know of it's existence. I call the winter grove, it's like spring got frozen or something."
((You really did, I saw it and had to double check that I hadn't posted a ref because that is literally how I envisioned him XD Hand tremors must suck, especially when drawing, but seriously that looks so good. That rendering is *chef's kiss* amazing. Glad your snek didn't bite your hand, I've got a leopard gecko and his bites don't hurt so I've got nothing to compare a snake bite to -W-"))

Cheryl followed him through the icy patches of snow, wondering if he had an idea where he was going. She didn't doubt his intentions, though. Surely he wasn't crazy. That would make two crazy people. And then she saw it. Nothing like she had ever seen before. Her eyes reflected the light like mirrors, making them look somewhat emerald rather than the dull, moldy color they sometimes were. She squeezed Apollos hand when following him on the ice, quivering as she tried to keep her balance. ``Woah,`` she whispered, looking up at the fragile masterpiece. ``It's--it's like--I've never seen anything like it. It looks like a bunch of frozen mirrors--what is that?`` She gasped. ``Is this a waterfall? A real-life waterfall? I've never seen one other than in those picture stories! Howd you find this place?``
Cheryl giggled, looking down at the water below. She had no idea what cold temperatures or somewhat dangerous things could be under, so all she saw was the beauty in the stiff darkness. She paused when she saw a flash. ``Whot's that?`` she asked curiously. ``Is it--alive?`` Cheryl's eyes twinkled, and when she saw her reflection in the water, she almost groaned like it ruined everything, but with Apollo in the picture it seemed to make everything better. The golden hair that could hide a bird's nest made her giggle in the fasauds of her heart.
She looked back up. What a sight. Almost like--
Cheryl slipped and fell directly into Apollo, without actually knocking him over. It took her a minute to render what the hell she just did. ``Ah-`` she choked through laughter. ``Sorry!`` Cheryl exclaimed, wincing. ``Oops--you good?``She said, getting up. ``Sowwi,`` she apoligised again. She went into a little rant, but went quiet after a minute of jumbled words to listen to the birds. It almost sounded like they were laughing, but not like she could yell at them to make everything better. It was already as good as it could get.

And snake bites are painful, only when they like latch on you. Never had a lizard before. There are some large ones in the yard that like to hang out by the hay shed, but I never actually had I pet lizard. What's it like? ;0))

“Ah, I tend to wander while I’m out.” Apollo smiled scratching his head. When he had been sent out for food when he was younger he tended to use more time than necessary, exploring the forests and other areas the he passed. His journey took weeks to compete because of his lack of magic control, thankfully now they were much quicker.
“Wait, you’ve never seen a waterfall?” He looked kind of surprised. “I’m sure a few parks must have some artificial ones, although I guess this is a bit more impressive since it’s naturally forming.” He looked up at the waterfall again, smiling. Being out in nature was always so pretty and calming, especially when I’m areas like this. “Oh, um ye-“ He was about to answer Cheryl’s question about what flashed under the ice when she slipped and fell into him. He yelped and slid across the ice, maintaining his balance by some miracle. “I’m fine!” He called out, sliding across the slippery ice back towards Cheryl. “Are you ok? That must have hurt.” He held out his hand towards Cheryl and smiled again, his nose and ears starting to turn red from the cold.
((It’s kinda chaotic lol. Leopard geckos are nocturnal so as soon as it turns night my lizard is out and about and looking for my hand to take him out of the cage. He has two modes, very calm or sonic; it took me a while to learn to to move fast enough so he wouldn’t jump off my arm^^’ He also eats crickets which is really gross cause I intentionally have bugs in my house but thankfully my house isn’t full of noise cause I buy only females which don’t chirp. Leopard geckos are also really soft and bumpy. It feels more like skin than rough scales.))

“That’s cool!” She said, drifting off.
“Hehe, no. The park ones are really—moldy—and don’t really function. All the trained waterworkers died out a few years ago so they kinda just look like fancy statues.
The product of her fall made her laugh. “Yeah!” She yelped past muffled giggles through her sleeve. “THAT WAS COOL,” she said, grabbing Apollo’s hand. She took a moment to just be in that moment of holding his hand, almost blanking out. Then she remembered she had to finish her statement. “Ice is slippery,” she remarked as if it were a new scientific discovery. “You look cold—“ she said, when realization bounced across her head. “Oh, it must be.” Cheryl couldn’t actually feel cold as intensely as most people because of the excess fire magic in her. It didn’t grant her power, and she couldn’t really do anything with it, but it did make what normally would be absolutely freezing a little chilly.
She took off her scarf and wrapped it around him, giggling. “You look cute in that,” she teased. “I don’t need it.” She noted the presence of her crop top and the lack of shivering. She saw another flash under the ice and it took every ounce of courage in her not to scream. For all she knew that was a sea monster stronger than a dragon. She blinked, giggling again. “Oksowhatisthat”

“Oh.” Apollo said, grimacing at the thought of moldy waterfalls. He’d only seen mild a few times, it always seemed gross when he saw it. “Oh, um, I guess I am.” He laughed, the feeling of the cold finally coming to him. It really was cold, how on earth had he not felt it before?
“Ah!” He said, startled as Cheryl wrapped the scarf around him. The scarf was pretty warm, fluffy and comfortable. He’d never really tried wearing a scarf, it always seemed so unnecessary, although now he saw how useful a scarf was. “Oh, I-I do?” He was startled once again, Cheryl’s comment catching him off guard. He noticed how Cheryl wasn’t shivering, even with her crop top and lack of proper winter gear. I guess the fire magic has some positive things.
“Oh, that’s just a fish.” He said, replying to Cheryl’s question. “It’s nothing to worry about, they’re actually a lot slower in the winter. Actually we could probably go ice fishing on of these days…” He trailed off, going over how to ice fish in his head.
((That’s alright, most of the time when I post is during free periods lol.))

Cheryl giggled when he noted that he was cold, as in a 'mhm I thought so' kind of attitude. His flusteredness made her smile.
``A-fish--`` she started, going off into thought. Suddenly she heard a bang. She looked up--Apollo was gone. She looked around, the snow turning black and--
Oh. She was fine. Apollo was finishing his sentence about fish. Whatever had just happened was in her mind. ``O-oh.`` she said, blinking away the speed her heart was pumping at. ``So they're real? I thought they were in like--books and stuff.`` There were definitely no fish at the city, even in food. That place stopped trade with other cities a long time ago, and there weren't any natural fish spawns near the place that was worth traveling back and forth to. She giggled. ``Their prettier than I thought,`` she remarked, noting the shimmers that reflected from somewhere deep below. She looked back up, half-expecting to see black snow. Apollo was right there. Nothing to fear. Somehow Apollo standing there made any worries melt off of her.
She wanted to stay here forever. It looked like magic built this place, but then again, what did she know? She looked over at the perfectly normal, powder snow, and slid over to it, taking a stick and drawing an over-acheived unicorn. ``Look, Apollo, its you! `` she said, giggling.

"Oh, yes there's a lot of them out here. Most are small though and with it being winter a lot of them are resting in a sort of hibernation. These ones swimming around are almost barely awake." He pointed to another flash of color before it sank into the icy depths below. At the mention of the fish being pretty Apollo nodded. The fish the inhabited this river were iridescent, they almost looked like swimming rainbows.
He noticed that Cheryl seemed kind of shaken, was that from seeing a fish for the first time? Apollo approached Cheryl, looking down at the drawing that Cheryl had drawn in the snow. "Wow." He said, marveling the drawing. "That's really good. I wouldn't say that I'm that elegant though."
