First day back from hiatus and I'm joining another roleplay. Almost makes me wonder if I'm even here for the pixel dragons, haha. Anyways, hello, nice to meet you all or see you again, hope you don't mind me showing up fashionably late!

Name: Xavier "Xay" Strange (Not his original name but he likes it and it works, so Xavier it is)

Age: 18

Gender: Demiboy!

Sexuality: Demiace

Power/Ability: "It's like a mirage... or something", is how Xavier themselves often describes their powers, and its effect certainly seems that way in execution. His ability allows him to do a good number of odd and dreamy things one might expect to encounter from a mirage, the most applicable of such being their ability to fabricate full sensory illusions in the form of physical daydreams. The range of this, at maximum, is about 15 feet, although it drops by half should they happen to be asleep when casting. The illusions in question don't always have to engage all 5 of the senses, and can simply be auditory, visual, etc. if Xavier so chooses. More often than not, their illusions are cast subconsciously, resulting in translucent, wobbly-formed shapes that earn the title of "mirage" quite well.

Additionally, Xavier often fades in and out of existence at inconsistent variables, becoming varying degrees of translucent and able to pass through solid objects in their least opaque state, no less phantasmal than the very illusions they conjure. A side effect of these powers is that people will often feel drowsy in Xavier's presence, the effect intensifying the more time they remain nearby. If one were to stay within range long enough to fall asleep, it is likely they'd have lucid dreams of shallow waters and a clear blue sky, free of all landmarks save for a single continuous train track and abstract plaster statues, the sound of glass chimes and silence distant in the background.

Personality: A lifelong patient of narcolepsy, Xavier is sure to make an odd impression on those he comes across. Detached, scatterbrained, a little "out there" depending on who you ask, the hallucinations and daytime sleepiness that accompany his condition are rather compatible with their apathetic disposition, for a overall personality best described as similar to that of a jellyfish. Which isn't to say they're a complete introvert by any means - should one manage to strike up a conversation, they'd find Xavier a surprisingly worldly individual with an offhanded sense of humor more than capable of holding one, usually following whatever topic the other brings up quite attentively, even if his replies can range from slightly odd to quite inscrutable. If one can adjust to his dizzying use of illusions to express his tone and meaning alongside words, Xavier is an agreeable enough companion. Their infinite patience makes them of the more tolerant sort; not hard to get along with, just hard to get to know. Befriending him isn't hard, it just takes a lot of time as Xavier tends to just forget people and events that don't leave a distinct impression of him. For their guaranteed attention, ring a musical triangle or wind chime - he has an odd fixation with almost anything that rings, dings, chimes, echoes, or resounds. Should he gain any close friends or companions, they'll find him quite attentive and clingy, being the type to speak primarily with actions rather than words.

Appearance: Xavier unintentionally matches their ability's theme of mirages, having long, messy, prematurely white hair of an iridescent sheen and soft silver-bluebell eyes. A shimmering silver haze seems to surround them, as if standing in the epicenter of their own personal summer swelter free from any of the associated warmth. Although rather lanky they're not the tallest person around, standing at about 5'8". Seeing as Xavier can quite literally fall asleep anywhere, he likes to wear comfortable attire that floats around the border between casual clothes and sleepwear. Soft black leggings and loose pastel long sleeves are his wardrobe's most common items, alongside any random harpin they might've grabbed to keep their hair up for the day, the result often being in mixed success. If he has a choice in the matter, Xavier walks barefoot, seemingly uncaring if he's indoors on soft carpet or outside on burning rocks and wood chips.

Backstory: If you ignore the superpowers bit, Xavier's backstory is almost laughably simple. They grew up the youngest of three brothers to a family of rich euntrapenaurs, left to their own devices as the troublesome son who either feel asleep during his private lessons or asked strange things should he happen to be awake. After being diagnosed with narcolepsy, Xavier's parents didn't care to put much effort into "correcting" his oddities like they might've for his elder brothers, their convenient position as the youngest excluding themselves from inheriting the family brand anyways.

Despite being overlooked by his parents, Xavier was quite close to his brothers, until the age of 14 when his abilities became too obvious to hand-wave as mere eccentricity. He was sent to some boarding school with a headmistress who was amicable enough to money to ignore Xavier's growing prowess, until rumors of a so-called ghost child studying alongside the upstanding children of modern nobility gained enough traction to earn the school complaints from "concerned parents" en masse. When narcolepsy treatments proved to solve only their drowsiness and none the illusions, his parents desperately began looking for an easy solution to the issue.

Naturally, Xavier's family unceremoniously tossed them in the direction of Superhuman Summer once it was discovered that there was an actual expert they could throw money at to make the problem to go away. Xavier, on their part, was quite agreeable to being shipped out to an island where he could just chill as himself without annoyingly judgey distractions, and began his summer at camp with few complaints.

Other:
- Due to the nature of his abilities or backstory or both, Xavier does not take any medication or treatment for his narcolepsy, and refuses any offers or attempts to treat it. Politely, of course, but less so if the matter is pressed upon.
- Enjoys pranking people with his illusions on occasion, perhaps because he's the last person who would be assumed to have a flair for mischief.
- It hardly matters, but their "real" name is Lester Regulus of the prestigious Regulus family, sole owners of the equally prestigious Regulus Development of Pharmaceutical and Medical Solutions corporation.
- My favorite color changes a lot, but currently it's burgundy! Although I'll always have a soft spot for poetic shades of blue.

Name: Wren Silvanus
Age:14
Gender: Cisgender Male
Power/Ability: Wren, with his wings, is able to propel himself forward and upwards to an extent. His wings are big enough to fly short distances, however he never had the proper training to learn how to use them and tends to shy away from the thought itself. He also possesses the ability to control the wind around him. This includes its movement and temperature. This ability is very wild in a sense, where it is heavily impacted by his emotions and he has very little control over it. Both of these abilities tend to make him very agile and quick.
Sexuality: Questioning
Personality: Wren, living in an isolated cabin for most of his life, struggles with interacting with strangers. Normally, he’d do anything to avoid interactions with people and tends to stay quiet as possibly to not draw any attention to himself as it normally brought danger to himself and his family.
However, Being the naive and clueless person Wren is, once he learns to trust someone (which can be done easily) he may become energetic and even a bit clingy to that person, seeing them as a source of protection. Like a flock. That also means that he’d do anything to protect his friends. Even throwing himself in the face of danger if it’d mean that they wouldn’t get hurt.
He is a little kid at heart. Being fascinated by every little thing and often finds himself getting in trouble due to his curiosity. This can be anything from getting lost in the woods to snooping through others belongings if it looked interesting. (Shiny items for his little bird brain)
Appearance: Wren tends to stand on the shorter side when it come to height. He has short, fluffy, chestnut brown hair and dark forest green eyes. He usually wears loose clothes such as long sweaters and jumpers. In this case he’s wearing a large tan sweater with a few mismatched patches where it had to be repaired. All of his shirts and sweaters have large slits cut into the back to allow his somewhat small-ish sized brown wings to get through. His wings are rather blank and hasn’t developed much of a pattern yet but shows signs of doing so in future molts. The tips of his fingers are also clawed like talons, but are rather small and couldn’t do anything too fatal.
Backstory: Wren was born in a normal town, filled with normal people. The town itself was small and far from big cities, relaying only on its people to keep the town afloat. With such circumstances came a closely knit community where everyone knew each other and gossip easily passed between mouths.
When he was born, there were no signs of abnormalities. He was just a normal kid. That is until he was the ripe age of 8.
On his 8th birthday he woke up with a strange pain in his back. However, it easily passed as sore muscles from playing. But as the day went on it only got worse until something happened. Small frail wings emerged from his back. This caused his parents and soon the whole town to spiral into a panic. Nothing like this had ever happened and it terrified the people. So what do humans do when something scares them? they either lock it away to never be seen or eradicate it. So when the people and family he knew so well decided to take action, he fled. He ran into the woods with no plans and only the adrenaline pumping through his veins.
Days later, a man found him lost in the forests that surrounded his old home. This man, who was gentle and caring, took him under their care and introduced him to his new family. His new family were just as strange and different as he was and loved him as if he were their own. It was confusing at first but he learned to return that love quickly.
Being so different with their unique abilities, They lived far in the woods, away from any sort of town that could pose as a threat. This meant that communication with the outside world was almost non-existent, except for when they’d go to the market for resources. So, when a letter was passed to Wren about a summer camp for people like himself, it was exciting! And after a lot of persuading and promises, he managed to get his, sometimes over-protective, family to let him go in hopes of learning about the outside world and how to control his powers.
Other:
- I like a bunch of colors but warm tones like oranges and yellows are lovely
- yep... can’t swim and generally doesn’t like water! Having non-aquatic wings that easily get water logged can be a problem!
- Living in the woods and living mostly off of the nature around them, causes Wren to know NOTHING about technology. What’s a phone?? You mean the Shiny brick that you talk into?
- that also means that he knows a bunch about nature tho!
- Gets cold easily and prefers the warmth way more

(OK I THINK IM DONE- THIS CAME OUT SO MUCH LONGER THAN I INTENDED IT TOO- SO UH SORRY ABOUT THAT! I also wrote this all in one sitting late at night so please excuse any mistakes fhdbjdndnd)

Oh Seinaga is probably going to stick to Wren like glue. Older sibling instincts will activate.

Editing because Seinaga will probably be doing that with anyone in the rp under the age of 15.

rule #6: don’t dump the bird-ability people in the water?

all jokes aside it’s really fun reading everyone’s character sheets even if i forget a lot of things immediately afterwards (not great memory all the time lol)
