The desert is more difficult for travelers than it is for the undead to cross, making this just as dangerous, if not more so, then the Ashfall Waste. The zombies here often tend to turn around or invade other areas nearby rather than stay in one spot. Their hunger does not drive them away from the lightning storms, so don’t be surprised if the lightning reveals a horde of wriggling bodies when night time roles around. Dragons of the Light Flight are not always fighters and so it has become very difficult to fight off hoards with multiple scholars. The advantage of broad daylight and wide open fields has given this zone enough of a chance to fight against the growing zombies, although it is not much. Zombies tend to retreat back into the Hewn City where darkness shrouds the only dark corner of the zone, and many dragons don’t dare go in to find out just how many zombies are in there. It is at night when things get hectic and most clans go down underneath the mini waves of hordes. Many have fled from this zone to other more secure zones to avoid being eaten due to the disadvantages and hope their knowledge becomes helpful elsewhere in finding a cure. The zombies that survived were able to crawl back into the Starwood Strand where they sit and wait, hoping that their meals will come to them in their desperation for food. The arcane have to run out of food sometime, and they surely cannot live off of eating just crystals. Many clans have starved with the limited resources as the zombies have kept a lock down on the only woods available to hunt in. This has made this zone one of the most desperate and cut off zones in the continent. The zombies have broken out and are terrorizing those they can find, often freezing out in the snow, unable to move but alive enough to watch you pass by none the wiser. Some Ice dragons have thought of clever ways to use this to their advantage and ship zombies across seas to bargain for riches, whether to please prisons or bring them back for study, often ending in catastrophe. Many ships and their shipments have gone down in the seas between the Icefields and the continent, but don’t cross out the icefield threat yet. Zombie dealing is a very dangerous business that is made easier as long as they are frozen in the cold. Zombies are not affected personally by the cold unless they get wet somehow.
