Introduction:
First Part:
"Hiring! Hiring Nightmare Caretakers!" Wasteland called, waving some papers in the air. "Come sign up today!"
Fear narrowed his eyes. He wished a dragon or two would hurry up and sign up. After all, he didn't have all day to just sit around and care for Nightmares. He had business to attend to.
He released a deep breath and turned to look across the road at Frog's Critter Adoption Center. Frog herself was weeding a few flower patches by the outside.
He gazed at her for a moment, then observed his own Center. Perhaps the peeling black paint and twisting dead trees were scaring away dragons. Hmm...
Frog was glaring at him now.
Fear met her eyes equally, having the sudden urge to smirk at her. No. Creatures like me don't smile. He narrowed his eyes slightly. Why did she dislike him so much? He didn't get nearly as much business as her, and he was well out of the way on the other side of the street. Whatever. Dragons are complicated.
Frog continued shooting an irritated look at Fear, but he didn't seem to care. Ugh. She was in a bad mood, and he really needed to mind his own business. Frog didn't trust him; he was hiding something.
"Hiring Critter Caretakers!" Wasteland called loudly, suddenly next to her Center. "Come sign up today!"
Frog let out a sigh, no longer caring about Fear, and strolled back inside her Adoption Center. She hoped some dragons would sign up soon.
