((Lol, relationships are complicated when your dad is a god and you are a proxy ruler for his empire.))

To Secondary Princeps Tempest,

As far as climate is concerned, it is very warm in Induya this time of year, so any preparations you wish to make in that regard may be wise. We do try to keep the temperature comfortable indoors, but any members of your party who are sensitive to heat may want to shade themselves when going out. Tropical storms are also a possibility, as we are not far from the coast, but unlikely to occur this late in the year.

I am unfamiliar with the social customs of your clan, but I would advise a certain degree of deference when interacting with the high ranking officials of the court, particularly His Majesty the king. It is unlikely you will have to deal with any of them for long, but it may benefit you to be aware of this expected decorum nonetheless. You need not trouble yourselves about this too much; if the rest of your clan conducts themselves as admirably as do you, I have no doubt you will be well received.

Enclosed is a letter of entry marked with the royal seal. Deliver it to the city watch upon arrival, and they will escort you to the palace.

Cordially,
His Highness the Heir Apparent
Prince Enidias

(honestly RIP Enidias- He has too much on his shoulders)

To his royal highness, Prince Enidias,

Thank you for the forewarning. I will do my best to make sure everyone is up to standard before our departure.

With all sincerity,

Tempest

Tempest sat and stared at the two sentences he had written on this latest letter. He didn't really have much else to say but there was only one thought that crossed his mind as he watched the static ink words. He sighed, preparing the letter for departure. "I have so much work to put into those fools," Tempest thought.

((Hope you don't mind me doing a timeskip, since it feels like we've wrapped up all the pre-visit business.))

As the day of Avolare's visit draws near, the capital of Induya is filled with the steady trickle of other arrivals, residents who made the journey to the Shifting Expanse for the Carnivale returning home after the festivities. Lightning-emblazoned banners still hang across the occasional doorframe or rooftop, placed by revelers who'd chosen to spend the holiday at home. Brokers wander the streets peddling recently retired festive favors at inflated prices.

Enidias has spent most of the festival week finalizing details, making sure everything is in place to receive his expected guests. If the other members of his father's court notice his fastidiousness, they make no mention of it. Every one of them seems largely unconcerned with the upcoming visit, a fact that irks him.

For his part, Enidias is excited by the prospect of a new alliance. He hopes this visit will be the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership between Induya and Avolare.

He is also very interested in finally meeting Tempest, but he pushes that thought aside for the time being.

(That's not a problem! There wasn't really anything else we could do anyway :)
Also is there somewhere specific you'd like those from Avolare to arrive or should I just write about the journey there or..?)

((You can write about the journey if you want! They'd be headed to the capital--there's only one large city in Induya, but plenty of small villages and settlements along the valley if they needed to rest or ask directions. It doesn't matter what part of the city they arrive at specifically; there's watchmen posted everywhere that would definitely stop them and ask their business when they try to enter.))

(Alrighty! Sounds good)

Tempest sighed as he moved along with his traveling company. He had done his best to make them fit for interaction however he felt he was at a loss. He knew Lotus would fare well and he wasn't too concerned about the twin mechanics, although their etiquette could be better. Wenceslas was his main concern at the moment. It had been hard enough to wrangle the hatchling and it seemed he had learned nothing from the much time Tempest had spent trying to shape him up for the visit to Induya.

Wenceslas had been jittery the entire trip and his excitement was uncontainable. He had nearly screamed twice at strangers they had passed in the settlements that they went through along the way (if it wasn't for Tempest's threats and quick smacks over the poor hatchling's head, he would've attempted more) and had tried running away more than once in order to, as Tempest recalls, "escape the terrors of the foul beast named after squalls of the sea." At first, Tempest had been a little more than shocked (though he'd never admit it) by the seemingly intricate string of words Wenceslas had been able to cough up and he even had a little hope for him when it came to manners. However that all washed down the drain as they grew closer to the capital.

As Tempest and his company became close enough to the capital only to see the watchmen that lined the area ever so immaculately, Wenceslas had gotten so rambunctious that Tempest found himself babysitting while the others simply followed Tempest's lead, hoping everything would be alright. It was then that Tempest began searching for some sort of entrance, Wenceslas in tow.

The travelers were greeted by the sprawling majesty of the city, which rose like a mountain above the wide and level floodplains of the valley floor. The remnants of what might have once been a high stone wall ringed the city, although little of it was now left, and the buildings spilled outward well beyond the area it once enclosed.

A wide thoroughfare led into this mass of buildings, along which other travelers could be seen making their way towards the entrance proper: an enormous archway flanked by two decorative columns. Standing to either side were two large guardians keeping watch.

"Name and business?" asked one as Tempest and his company approached.

Tempest adjusted his posture and gave Wenceslas a quick glance before acknowledging the guards. "Tempest of Avolare. I'm the Secondary Princeps of my clan, or in other words, an advisor and I've been invited her by his highness, Prince Enidias on the business of creating an alliance," Tempest stated.

The watchman peered curiously over Tempest's traveling companions, his expression dubious. "I...see. I wasn't told we'd be receiving a foreign diplomat today. But last I checked, the prince doesn't create alliances with small children." He paused to glare pointedly at Wenceslas. "I think you and your friends should leave."

"Secondary Princeps!" called a voice. A spiral dressed in embroidered livery scurried out of the city and skidded to a stop in front of the frowning watchman. "Secondary Princeps Tempest? Hello, yes, many apologies! I am an attendant of the royal court. His highness sent me to bring you to the palace."

The watchman looked down at the attendant, looked back at Tempest, and grunted in resignation. "Fine. Go on, then."

Tempest simply smiled graciously. "Not a problem," He stated. "Thank you for the escort." He looked to the guard, not saying anything but clearly having many words on his mind. He would be respectful... For now.
