Jorn set the pan over the fire, spreading out the meat so it would cook evenly. The strips were thin, so they would be done in just a few minutes even on the weakening flame. He glanced at the dragons and chuckled at the difference; Aeira nibbled on a leg while Ciar rather carelessly ripped the bear pelt off to reach the muscle below.
He glanced over at Ren, seeing that he had skinned Aeira's catch - something he might've done with the bear had he had two good arms. There would be other opportunities, though.
Ciar kept a careful eye on Aeira as he ate. To him, the wallaby seemed too small for her to be satisfied by, and he didn't intend on sharing his catch just yet. He resisted the urge to eat faster, instead tearing off a piece of ribcage to gnaw on. He quietly admitted to himself that he felt much better after eating something, despite his reluctance to leave Jorn. Besides, his rider was just fine, so he trusted the other human a little bit more.

(It's 7 food points for some reason :P)
Aeira was perfectly happy to munch on the wallaby, grinning at Ciar when the Guardian looked at her. After spitting out some bones and swallowing, she ripped away the other leg and worked on chewing it.
Ren was almost done with cleaning the pelt, picking away bits of fat and blood from the edges. It was a good skin, sturdy and relatively thick, and he draped it over a rock to dry. While his dragon ate, he helped himself to a strip of deer he had shaved from her last hunt and washed it down with some water. He leaned against the cavern wall, watching the two dragons eat with a slight smile.

(What's seven food points?)
Ciar, starting to feel full, had finished about half of what was left of the bear. He crushed the rib more for entertainment than to consume it, dropping the fragments on the ground before resuming his meal.
Jorn used a stick to poke through and turn the meat, letting the other side brown for another minute or two before moving the pan off of the fire. Glancing at Ren, he noticed the younger man eating something from his stash and waved him over.
"Ren, this has finished cooking. Come have some," Jorn said.

(the wallaby ^w^)
Aeira paused in her eating, "full already?" she asked, "why, I expected you to be starving." She swallowed, then cleaned the meat off the bones that remained, feeling quite satisfied herself.
"Huh? Oh! Thank you," he said, rising and walking over, "how kind of you to share." He smiled genuinely as his mouth watered at the smell.

(Huh. Unexpected XD)
”Not done yet,” he answered gruffly, almost defensive. Ciar tore off another large piece of meat, chewing on it quietly for about a minute before swallowing and ripping off another.
“You’re welcome, and it’s the least I can do. Careful, it’s still really hot,” Jorn said, setting the pan on the cool cave floor. “So, after this, I suppose we’ll head towards the Light region, correct?”

"Oh, sorry," she said, wilting. Turning her attention back to Ren and Jorn, she laid down on the ground, swishing her tail, then finally decided on curling it next to her head.
Taking out a small knife, Ren gingerly speared a strip of the meat and plucked it from the pan. He blew on it and bit off a small piece to try. "Mhm, no more reason to wait around. The weather looks nice, and the dragons are rested and fed.

Ciar glanced at Aeira, almost feeling bad about snapping at her. ’What was that word? Oh, right,’ he thought, realizing she’d just said it.
”Sorry,” Ciar grumbled quietly, turning back to the bear. There was still quite a lot of meat left on it, but he had eaten enough to feel full. He stood and stretched like a giant, winged cat, edging away from the leftovers before settling down to clean the blood off of his face and paws.
“I suppose not,” Jorn said, spearing a piece with the sharp stick he had used to cook, as his knife was still covered with blood. He blew on the piece several times before trying it. Bland, as he didn’t have anymore spices, but satisfying.

Aeira glanced at the half devoured bear and raised a brow, "Ren? Do you think we have enough time to preserve the meat?" She was loathe to waste a good meal, though she doubted she could finish off what remained. The wallaby had been quite filling.
"Hmm, needs some salt," Ren said with a chuckle. The meat had a good amount of natural flavor, though, and he wasn't going to complain. "What, that?" He looked at the remains of the bear, "what do you think, Jorn? That could be another meal for them."

Ciar glanced at Aeira as she spoke. There was still a lot left on the bear, enough for another decent meal, and he also would prefer that it wasn’t wasted. He turned his gaze to the two humans, blowing out a puff of flame.
“I agree, I used to carry around a pouch of spices for that. They’re long gone now, though, and I haven’t found any more,” Jorn said, finishing off his piece. He looked at the bear at Ren’s question, and answering, “it’s definitely quite a lot and I’d hate to waste it, but most preservation methods take hours if not days.”
Jorn’s attention was drawn to Ciar at the small burst of flame, raising an eyebrow. “I don’t have any salt, and I’m not sure you do either, so salting isn’t an option. I suppose smoking or drying it might work, but both take some time, even with fire.”

Ren frowned, "that would be a shame should we give that up, surely we can smoke some of it given we have two dragons and their fire? I'm sure we can preserve something worthwhile."
Aeira thrummed softly and let out a puff of smoke in response, "with a large enough rack it should not be an issue, Ren." She flicked her tail, "or we could bring it along for eating in flight?"
