Ironhand chuckled. "Oh, so the boy wants to duel? I'm surprised in your confidence boy." He said. "You know what they say about duels right? They prove who is right and who is wrong." He watching Ren.
Seeing the blade many of the others tensed, fearing a battle against the dragon. Ironhand pushed Robert forward. "Why not test yourself?" He asked Ren not taking him seriously at all. Robert glares at Ironhand. "Go on then! This should be entertaining!" He says almost gleefully. Of course he would duel Ren afterwards just to add insult to injury.
Seeing no option out Robert put his shield down to make it fair. Unlike Ren's sword, Robert's was only steel. He held it with one hand, his right, though seeing as Robert had an air of veterancy to him, he wasn't going to be easy either. And peasants rarely had honor... much like Ironhand. He didn't speak to Ren though, he just glancing at Ren then the dragon and then back again.

Ren said nothing against the taunting of the knight. Lord Ironhand, huh? He thought to himself. However, he was surprised when said knight did not rise to meet his duel, but rather sent one of the soldiers out. He recognized the other to be the one who stood out earlier...
Ren nodded at his opponent, holding his stance and raising his sword to the challenge. He watched as the soldier dropped his shield to level the playing field and quietly admired his devotion to honor. He locked eyes momentarily, calmly, with the soldier.
"En garde," he said, waiting for the response, all the while studying his opponent, looking for weakness, anything he could use to secure a harmless, painless victory. Disarm, no bloodshed, nothing like last time. He told himself, loosening and tightening his grip as he narrowed his eyes.

Robert said nothing in return. He began to circle Ren carefully before striking out at him. Disarming an opponent was not something he was familiar with, but it was clear that Robert wasn't entirely invested in the duel.
He also seemed distracted, if Robert won, the dragon could potentially end his life as an act of vengeance. He tried not to think too much on such a grim thought though. The fighting method he used wasn't entirely well formed, it was definitely one that relied on a shield as defense as he swung with one arm instead of both hands involved in holding the sword better.

As the soldier began to circle Ren, he held his ground, turning to keep himself ready against any attack. He quickly parried the lunge, the opponent's steel sword carrying much farther than he expected. With that opening, Ren struck forwards, but he hesitated for too long, and the soldier was able to block his attack.
Aeira watched the two with narrowed eyes, her tail twisting and curling with barely held back energy. She was tense, her claws beginning to claw furrows in the earth as the duo continued to probe each other.
Ren had begun to get a feel for the other's method. Clearly the soldier was used to having a shield in his other hand, as it seemed out of place and occasionally off-balance. He seized on the opportunity.
Feigning a blow to his opponent's leg, he was able to put him in a precarious spot, dangerously off balance and in an awkward pose. With his goal in mind, Ren quickly enacted his plan, twisting his sword around the other, locking it in its hilt, and with a quick flick, pulled it away from the soldier and flung it off to the side.
He held his sword forward, pointed at the soldier's neck, emotionless. He then glanced at Lord Ironhand, wondering how he would take it knowing his man had been bested.
(Let me know if this is forcing it a little too much)

(You're fine! I intended Robert to lose lol)
Robert had thought he had been doing well. Then in a flash his sword had been flung from his hand and sent yards away from him. He had thought it would have been more competitive. But the 'commoner' before him wasn't a commoner it seemed.
Hesitantly he raised his hands as sign of surrender though debated attempting to grab the sword from his opponent and have the duel become a fist fight. What was honor when fighting for his life.
Ironhand applauded him. "Well done. Now you can fight me." He said. He dismounting his horse and drawing his sword. It had golden engravings and a jeweled hilt. A bit flashy, but the serrated blade was no joke. "After all, you bested a peasant soldier. Now you're warmed up." He said chuckling. Then he stood ready for combat.

Ren lowered his sword, then held his open hand out to his side. Aeira flicked the soldier's sword back and he snatched it out of the air. "You fought with honor," he said, "your sword." He handed it back to his opponent with a slight smile, almost as if he was aware of Robert's thoughts.
"As for Lord Ironhand," he turned to the knight, bowing mockingly, "if you insist, then I shall humor you, though our hour here is nearly up, and I have more important affairs to attend to." He motioned at the glass, but twirled his sword back into his hand, ready to take whatever came.
Aeira whined sadly, worried about her rider. She had seen the serrated blade and what they could do. Ren looked back briefly for comfort, taking note of the hourglass and his dragon. "Let us begin, then," he said, hoping he would be able to stand up to the knight, and if not, the light armor woven into his clothes could.

"Uh.. thanks." He said. He didn't really know what he meant by honor, but he took the sword and returned it to the scabbard. He then picked up his shield and returned to the others. He checked his blade for damage.
Lord Ironhand looked at him. "I doubt it will take an hour." He said. He stood there watching Ren awaiting his move. He aimed to win the fight no matter what. And he wasn't going to be humiliated by a commoner.
The soldiers expected to have two outcomes. Robert though was just watching the battle unfold in front of him wondering what was going to happen here. Though the arrogance that Ironhand had could be his downfall.

Ren shifted his stance, eyeing the knight's blade. He had his own sword at a slight angle, trying to predict Ironhand's next move. He forced himself to breathe slowly, calmly, and to stay alert but not tense. He bounced on the balls of his feet experimentally, all while studying the serrated edge of his opponent's sword.
He could tell Lord Ironhand was not in the mood to lose, but then again, neither was he. Looking at the stance of the knight, he knew Ironhand was waiting. Still keeping his gaze locked on the other sword, he struck.
He was known to be quick and deliberate with his attacks, but the knight was evenly matched. Strike and parry, in the blink of an eye, the clang of colliding swords rang in his ears. Ren spun, the weight of his blade now resting in the palm of his other hand. This swordsman was much more balanced than the last. (My ideal? Ren winning. but after a tough fight. Yours?)
Ironhand chuckled. "Come on then. You are going to have to do a lot more than dancing to win this fight." He said. He struck at Ren with his blade, it was a barrage of strikes. Although Ren blocked, dodged or parried, Ironhand lived for fighting. To him this duel was like a game, especially since now he knew Ren's fighting technique. Robert had been nothing more than a test.
"Afraid you'll get hurt in this duel?" He asked. He trying to anger him, cause him to make mistakes and eventually cause him to lose. Ironhand was by far the least honorable leader around. And it showed. Alongside his sword, he would try to kick Ren's feet out from under him.

(that it is then XP)
Ren furrowed his brow in concentration as he parried and blocked each successive attack. While Ironhand had a few tells, his sheer strength and the sheer weight of his sword made it difficult to counter. Ren was forced to fight defensively, and he tried to use the knight's momentum against him, forcing his opponent to tire faster, but it didn't seem to be much use.
He inhaled sharply as he barely deflected a blow that would have cracked his skull wide open, then danced out of the way of a kick. Still, he felt well enough knowing he was efficiently conserving his energy. This war of attrition was going to be won by keeping his mind clear, and he paid no mind to the words the knight hurled at him.
He began to probe for weaknesses in Lord Ironhand's sword. It was bigger and heavier than his, which forced him to use both hands to defend himself, but what made it so effective could also be used against him. Right after he parried a blow, the serrated blade glancing off of the dragonscale hilt, he trust out, torquing the larger sword and then began his attack back. He reasoned that enough of his meddling would tire out his opponent, then he could get a disarming blow in.
