For 23 years he knew he was Hunter and not realizing until he went on hunts with his older brothers and Bobby but he always felt like the hated him for some reason not knowing that he has actually had demon blood in him until he discovered the secrets that his brothers and Bobby had kept from him until he went off on his own again and ended up meeting Castiel and Castiel not realizing the demon blood and just assumed him as being another Winchester so he sent him on a job to find his grand daughter to help protect her and Castiel wasn't expecting them to fall in love and then Castiel learned later on that he had demon blood in him like Sam just not knowing how Sam and the youngest brother was different not knowing how dominant the demon blood was in the youngest child.
