"They say a woman can never have too much jewelry."Rolin said.
Zeza rolled her eyes. "Please don't encourage her. She has too much as is."
Lynne set the bracelet down and picked up a necklace."This is like Mom's...."she looked at the jeweler. "Do you do repairs?"
The jeweler nodded. "I certainly can, or I can try. I've seen some very complicated foreign pieces that I wasn't able to fix completely."
Zeza had taken a step back from the table and was letting Lynne talk.

Eve glanced up as Zeza took a step back, wondering how long it would take for Rolin to match her motion. Her eyes shifted to Lynne as she asked the merchant if he did repairs; what all had happened to these two? She couldn't help but feel a little bad for Lynne as she was younger, and Zeza seemed to have such a handle on her emotions that nothing ever rattled her.
Eli was listening to the exchange without meaning to; the necklace in the girl's grasp was very pretty and looked expensive, even if this street version was a cheap-ish knockoff of a pricier original. He tilted his head back to look at the sky, knowing it wasn't his place to say anything.

Zeza turned and smiled a bit at Eve and Eli. "I'm sorry, but I didn't catch your names earlier."
Rolin hadn't noticed Zeza step away, rather interested in the conversation Lynne and the jeweler weer having.

Eli reacted before Eve could even acknowledge that Zeza had spoken to them. "Eli," he introduced himself in the tone of voice he usually used to address those above him. He inclined his head slightly. "At your service." Which was accurate; he was at all of their service.
Eve suddenly tuned in to Eli introducing himself and realizes Zeza had asked their names. "Genevieve; I'm Rolin's primary guard," she said in response, offering a partial smile. "Call me Eve though, whole name is too formal."

Zeza nodded."Eve and Eli." she repeated. She smiled a bit as Eve said she was Rolin's primary guard. "That was easy to figure out. You are rather defensive over him."

Eve shrugged once. "It's my job," she said simply, offering no further explanation. She watched him interact with Lynne and the merchant; what was it about him that was so endearing? Maybe it was just a time complex, spend enough time around a person and you end up caring about them too much. "Someone's gotta look out for him."

Zeza smirked and nodded."That is very true."
A moment later, Rolin and Lynne joined them again. "Is he the only jeweler in town?"Lynne asked.
Rolin shook his head. "No, there are a few others. I'll have to introduce you to the couple who makes my mother's jewelry." he said as he continued on with the tour, Zeza followed beside her sister.

Eli was surprised to find his mouth opening; he'd been about to offer a response for Lynne, without being fully aware that he'd even heard her question. Rolin answered first and he instead kept quiet, his hand resting lightly on the blade at his hip. He was a guard, not a tour guide.
Eve bit the inside of her cheek to keep from snapping. This tour wasn't like the rest; she was accustomed to disappearing into the background, but she wasn't used to being so solidly ignored by Rolin. It was weird. Great he was focused on the girls who were actual potential matches, but even then...
She shook her head. Protecting him didn't require being acknowledged, she supposed. Maybe Eli was right about everything, that her friendship with Rolin was really only existent when they were alone, because her guard status, if she were connected to him in any manner other than professional, would sully his. That's why Eli always kept himself so reserved from those he served; better to never form attachments than to form them and have them be secret because you weren't good enough.

Rolin continued on with the tour until they got to the begining of the marketplace. This was usually where he ended the tour and would take them back to the castle.
"We'd actually like to go in and talk with some of the farmers."Zeza said.
Rolin blinked in surprise. "Uh....why?"
"We can only carry so much food and find so much while we travel. Since we're going to be here for at least a week, we'll need more."Zeza said. "You don't have to come with us. We'll be fine on our own. We'll come back to the castle in an hour or so and you can give us a tour their."

Eve quirked an eyebrow, intrigued by this. It mentally made sense to her to meet up with the farmers, but no one else who'd ever stayed in the palace had thought that far ahead; she found herself begrudgingly awarding Zeza a point in her favor. She appreciated those with a good level of intelligence and, of course, she'd assumed the assassin was smart, but it was still nice to hear.
She shook her head slightly at Eli when he glanced her way; these two would definitely be fine with the farmers, of all people, on their own. But she'd wait for instructions from Rolin before telling Eli he could have an hour break. Maybe the prince would insist on an escort, in which Eli would be volunteered, but otherwise he'd be allowed to somewhat relax before going on patrol later in the day.
