@0moonjay0 Most of the work and organisation behing this re-opening has been made in the discord as it makes it significantly easier than do it on the site. In retrospect we should've made it more obvious on the old thread too x.x

@Decaffeinated Nah, you’re good. It’s amazing, though!
Thanks for the conversation! I hope to write for some more dragons soon!

I'mm honestly a bit envious that I didn't get to make the next generation of Writer's Hatchery, but hey, at least it's open! >_<

“You’ll get it next time.”
Sanguine is so tired of hearing those words. “You’ll get it next time, you’ll do it next time, you’ll make it next time.” Why is it always next time? Why does it always have to be next time? Why can’t it be this time, for once?
She’s going to make it this time.
A female becoming a blacksmith isn’t unheard of, but it’s still quite rare in her area. It isn’t to say that females don’t have the drive, no. Rather, it’s that they keep getting unfairly pushed out of the rat race by males with less talent and less qualification, who go on to become master blacksmiths simply because they are males.
Well, no more, Sanguine decides. She’s tired of coming in runner-up because of something she can’t change. If this world is going to change, something is going to have to make it do so. And she’s going to take the plunge and do it.
Change is good, she just has to make them see that. Sanguine works night and day, trying to perfect the thing that is finally going to prove her worth. At first, she thinks of making something huge. That will certainly impress them, right? But then…
She thinks a little smaller.
When she comes before her Clan’s Board of Blacksmiths and presents her forged item, they seem to roll their eyes.
“A simple switchblade?” They ask incredulously. “Is that all?”
“No,” Sanguine answers. “It fits in the palm of your paw or up a sleeve undetected, and has a replaceable tip.” She flips out the blade to show them. “Because once something is stabbed with this tip, the tip breaks off and shatters. It may be small, but it causes a great deal of damage. No one is going to get away unharmed when someone is carrying one of these.”
They are impressed.
Sanguine doesn’t have to wait for the next time.
