Well, she's been as nice as she's capable of. There've been quite a few jabs at gender roles and other such things. But they're discrete enough that the other people present don't seem to genuinely notice.
So. Yeah. (She just kinda can't stand that about myself and B. Even though her oldest step daughter is gay and her and her partner actually had a baby about a year or so ago. But since B actually identifies as straight, and I'm the exception, she pretty much clings to that and insists that B isn't gay. Uh...duh? Just because you're attracted to a man/men doesn't mean you're gay. There's bisexuality, too. And that's without having to go into the many other sexualities that would break her brain even more than that.)

NovaLovesFrogs oh ugh I haaaaaate that kind of monosexist crap x_x
She can go get stuffed. (I am bisexual-with-a-preference so this is crap I'm very familiar with, though from a different side.)
You guys keep doing your thing. *support from afar*

Haha. Pretty much. B doesn't identify as bisexual, though. He really does prefer women. It's just that this charming ginger over here won his heart very quickly and we've kinda been together ever since.
(You'd think that after a decade and us having lasted longer than her second marriage from the day she met her second husband to the day she divorced him.)
It's been...an interesting and very frustrating decade. B's mom is much nicer to me now than she's ever been before. She spent the first seven years just outright trying to get rid of me. Even going so far as to encourage B to cheat on me to "see what's out there" and tried to convince him that cheating on your partner is perfectly acceptable if you're looking for something better to leave them for.
Yeah. That actually happened. When he was seventeen, eighteen, and nineteen. What a fantastic example/thing to teach your teenager.
There are still a lot of issues, but I've stuck with B for this long. I love him enough not to let his mom chase me away. I mean, I didn't let her chase me away through the worst parts of our relationship. Even during some of the worst years of my life, she wasn't enough to drive me away from the love of my life.
So it's just something I gotta deal with. Y'know?

NovaLovesFrogs yeah. I'm sorry you have to deal with it though. Good on you for not being chased away!

Hey, love is love, no matter how psycho the parents of that love are. My biological mother is pretty psychotic, and in many many ways worse than B's mom.

NovaLovesFrogs bluh to your mom being psycho also x_x I am sorry

Referring to her as a 'mom' in any context is disgusting an an insult to mothers.
B's mom isn't psychotic. She's extremely controlling, and what I like to call a 'venom dripping b-word'.
But the thing that gave birth to me? Sociopath.

NovaLovesFrogs I apologize! My own mother is similar to how you describe B's, and I'm fortunate not to have any uncorrected sociopaths about, though I do have a grandmother who is worse than my mother (literal neo-nazi worse, though she has plenty of empathy, just only for people with the right genes)

Incubator's (I refer to the sociopath as Incubator) mother is the one that raised me. She's very loving and supportive and such. There were some failings, mostly in the fact that she didn't force Incubator out of my life and I was quiet about the abuse Incubator put me through because I was afraid that 1) no one would believe me and 2) that Incubator would kill me if she found out I told anyone.
But despite that, my gran, who raised me, is an amazing woman and I love her very much.
Incubator? I can't trust her and I can't bring myself to love her, either. I'm not absolutely sure whether or not I hate her. It's...very very complicated.

There's also no way to really 'correct' a sociopath...
