"I think there might be fennel in the jars? At least, the one we're supposed to get..." Norice replies to Ante (@misanthropy). He suddenly squints at her mention of keys. "...Let me."
Lifting a claw, he begins to draw on the air with ink-like shadows. If the others were looking, it'd seem like he was running through possible codes.
"...Ah! With 'fennel', jar 2 says... 'baboon'...?"
He blinks in confusion, before suddenly speaking up again. "Wait, the sons of Horus- baboon is the key...!"
He goes back to scribbling notes, seemingly running through all the jars, before his brow furrows. "...Ah?"

"...I can take it." The words left before Vestige would be sure about saying them. For all they knew, even the riddles were nothing more than traps. But, even so... She looked down at her own body. Most of the damage was obscured by massive, ill-fitting robes and loose fabrics, but she could feel it. Cracks, running through her being. That fire deep, deep down inside herself.
The dragon with pretty hair - Vestige hadn't caught her name, hadn't caught any names thus far really - was right to be cautious. But they also couldn't afford to stand around and wait on their decision. Not with that stone sphinx loitering at the door. And so, "I'm... not entirely sure how I got here, or why, but I can tell that something is... wrong with me. If one of us has to take the jar and risks injury, I don't mind stepping up to do so. Better me than any of you."
Room ping again! Just want you all to know that Vestige is offering to take the jar just in case anything bad happens when it's picked up (and it somehow isn't the right one). Also pinging @Farallon to let you know the same, and that we're picking jar 3!

Acherontia was so shocked to see the sphinx speak, though she guesses that she shouldn't have been that surprised with how unnatural everything is within this place. Hearing Damascus call to her, she saw the other riddle.
"It definitely seems like milkweed would be the correct answer here, but these labels...I cannot make any sense of them honestly."
Others were moving around her as she pondered but then she heard Resen shouting at the sphinx about trying to keep jars from breaking. Before she could try to help calm her down, there was then a sudden rumble...sand was falling from the ceiling?! She tried to shelter any near her from the falling sands. In the pitch darkness, she uses her lanterns to help bring some light for everyone to see.
Before she could use her own lanterns, Grimm and Atlas used their items to help make things bright again, making it easier to see for everyone as she calls out to them,
"I hope everyone is alright?" She watches as the Nocturne seemed to brush himself off and head towards the jars again. She couldn't hear what he said at first but saw him go towards the first jar... this sound be interesting?
Though turning to her brother heading towards the fourth jar, she trusts his answer more than her own and others. She knows that may be flawed but with these puzzles, she'd rather not get separated from him.

[hidden title="Second thoughts"]
I ran the decoder for chamber 1 since their ciphers follow a similar pattern to ours. Looking through their riddles their closest answers would be milk looping itself since their riddle is more explicit on leaving ‘weed’ behind.
Does that mean that our answer is actually ‘nightn’ aka jar 2?

"Oh!" Vestige startled. She hadn't really expected anyone's full attention, but that dark Imperial who exuded an unearthly kind of aura was perhaps who she'd expected to acknowledge her the least. He hadn't spoken much to the others, aside from helping with the riddle. "You can call me Vestige, though I don't believe that's my true name."
It took a moment for the first half of his question to register to her, but by the time it did, a Wildclaw wearing a wolf's pelt was already touching the jar in question. Vestige lunged forward to grab the jar - doll? - out of the Wildclaw's hands, some buried instinct seeing her stuff it deep into her robes. She scrambled away from the Wildclaw, finally noticing her menagerie of weapons. One hand gripped tightly at a rope that felt weighed down by something. A bottle, perhaps?
> Vestige takes jar/doll #3
Welp, I just went for it lol I'm officially locked in @Farallon; and yes, that is Widow that Vestige is (unknowingly) clutching. I imagine those that know she has the spider beast won't like the implication of her reaching for Widow like that ^^' Vestige is kind of... aggressively nice if there's danger, I've decided.
Edit: Lol too late, sorry Fable!
On the jars
While the chamber 1 folks' riddle specifies taking a jar that has no mention of 'weed' from milkweed, our riddle doesn't mention that. It just mentions a word cut off too short. While that could be jar 2, it specifies one that bears the sphinx's name. Jars 1, 3 and 4 are Atropo, Nights (short for nightshade) and Shades (the second half of nightshade). But Nightn isn't short for nightshade, and therefore doesn't bear the sphinx's name. That's why I'm fairly confident it's jar 3. But! Vestige has also taken it upon herself to grab the jar now, so hopefully if anything bad happens it'll happen mostly to her and not the whole group ^^'

At the inquiry of the familiar one, Baal (@Corvussei), Pyxis turned to look at them with a small nod. "It's a flower," he answered. "A flower that gazes upon its own reflection, since it grows along the edges of water," he said.
And then the Sphinxes spoke.
“Return the seeds
Planted each in jars
Beneath four Suns they’ll grow
Just be wary of the weeds
Falsely in our gardens sown…”
... Hm.
It seemed the Narcissus flower was, indeed, the answer, as the doors--for everyone else with their answers--opened, and they were presented with another corridor. He hummed, deciding to lead the way in, and he paused to get a good look around the room to gather his bearings.
The first thing that caught his eye was the riddle spelled out on the floor, like the one before them.
Take only one, that in my pool
Doth its flowers bloom
Their stalks held in Da Vinci’s hand
To guide you from this room.
... He turned to look up, seeing the words upon the pitchers.
sacewf. iaqhcq. uaagfj... and qioqts.
He exhaled. Oh dear, he was quite out of his depth.
"Water flowers?" he began speaking his thoughts out loud. "I am... not quite sure where to proceed from here," he said. And then, he remembered something. "Though given what the sphinxes said, it might be best to avoid grabbing the wrong one." He sighed again. He was good at reading hearts, not minds!
"Oh," he reached into his cloak and pulled out one of the inky mushrooms that he found back at the not-well. "Perhaps this will give us a hint...?" He gave it a poke, just like he did back at the not-well, hoping it'd give him some sort of clue as to how to proceed. Aside from the temptation to melt some of the ice, that is.
