That's why the important thing is to find something to prevent this from always happening, and not to impose a rule that prevents almost everyone from playing.

but again: there IS OTHER games? a Forum game doesn't have to be designed to suit EVERYONE.
Umas are not something every FR user has anyway so you already are excluding many people anyway?
Is it fair to people like Disteerily who CONSTANTLY have to add their own skins for FREE just so anyone will pick up something unwanted? That's unfair if you ask me.
I have to say I agree with this sentiment, even in threads like wishlist fulfillments/TUBMG there are those with no monetary cap, and those with 50kt/g requirements, 100kt/g requirements
Forum games are meant to be fun, yes, but it's become very constant for threads to stall with a one/two skin selection with little coverage

I can see both sides of the argument here, but I'm also skewing towards having to offer 2 (preferably 3) UMAs just for the health of the thread. Without this rule it's like a car stalling every few seconds and it's very unfair to the generous folks who keep jumpstarting it by adding their own contribution to the mix without getting anything in return for it. If these people weren't doing this (completely optional, selfless act on their part!) to keep the game going, it would just simply die out at any given time.
And it goes without saying that it's just not right to keep the thread alive by expecting that someone else will come along to fill in whenever it hits a wall. The premise/rules need to be functional enough to stand on their own and keep it going smoothly the majority of the time without a need for a step-in. Even with a choice between 2-3 UMAs there will be guaranteed to be times that it will stall. But this rule would go a long way with making it a whole lot smoother than it is at the moment.
I'm mostly ambivalent on the other ideas:
For permababy skins it doesn't make a difference to me personally whether there needs to be an adult skin too. I would be fine with or without this one.
After reading other people's thoughts I do think it's best to not mix in fest skins even as a bumper.
Limiting recycling to after 10 or so claims seems reasonable, and isn't even all that limiting even if you decide a skin you claimed doesn't fit the dragon you intended it for. Once the game starts rolling smoothly again it should only take a few days, or a week at most to get the chance to put the skin back in.
Regarding coverage: if there are 3 UMAs offered for each post, I don't think it will be too relevant.
For reselling, it should obviously be frowned upon to claim just to immediately resell, but deciding to sell in the future if you no longer want the skin seems completely fine to me.

I also agree with the sentiment. There are plenty of forum games with a minimum requirement to play just as there are others that are friendly for all price ranges. As unfortunate as it is that some might not be able to play-- much like Uniformshark said-- forum games are not always designed with everyone in mind. This doesn't make the game inherently unfair. For the sake of the thread there should be something that helps with the horrendous stalling myself and others have noticed over how ever long we/they've been following the thread.
Bare minimum I think you should offer 2 UMAs-- but even then there have been stalls due to this. So 3+ does seem a good idea. Obviously the thread won't constantly be running but there's a big difference between a few hours without a claim and days between claims.
"If you want to offer a baby's skin there must also be an adult uma/s, not just babies."
As others have said in the thread, I think it's fine if the options provided are hatchling skins as long as they adhere to the threads rules. Requiring an adult dragon skin alongside a hatchling seems a bit limiting. Especially if a user is to offer 2-3 skins minimum for an offer.

Banning selling received skins is a hard no from me. I understand it's disappointing when a skin someone claimed is then traded or sold away, but that is THEIR skin. Flight Rising itself has stated that items and dragons in someone's lair effectively belong to that user, and therefore they can do whatever they want with it. Doubly so for a gifting/trading game like this. It's unfair, infeasible, and policy-violating to demand that of a TUBMG thread.
Also wanted to agree with Dragonwyspr here. Sometimes a better skin comes along or you simply want to change a dragons aesthetic-- shouldn't be penalized for that. Sometimes the skin is immediately flipped but-- as Dragonwyspr said-- it's against policy to try and enforce what a user does with the skin. Curate your space and minimize interaction with a player if their actions bug ya.

I understand what you're saying but it wouldn't be a ban, it just says it would be frowned-upon. just like it's frowned-upon but still technically allowed for people to buy dragons with the promise not to exalt and then exalting them anyways. obviously the TOS allows that, but it's still frowned-upon by the community

- All claims must have 2 + ums/a offered, 3+ is preferred!
I'd be down for 2-3; maybe 2 is the standard and 3 is only required if there is a low-coverage, recycled or permababy skin?
If you want to offer a baby's skin there must also be an adult uma/s, not just babies.
Tbh I don't think this rule is super necessary because I've seen decent demand for baby skins (I don't think having 3 will stall the game), but that's just in my friend group/discord so I'm not sure what the whole of FR feels.
To bump the game you can use festival skins?
I wouldn't be fully opposed if they're clearly labeled as fest skins, but I don't think it's needed to add this unless none of the other rules fix the stalling. Like maybe as a last resort rule. Preferably the stalls will be fixed and this will not need to be added.
Recycling skins claimed needs to be longer? Can't repost them until at least 10 other skins have been given?
I've had times where the accent I got had a detail I missed that I didn't like, or something like that; I think it's ok to keep the recycled skin limit the same/lower, but maybe add additional options as stated in the 2-3 skins rule (it would count as that extra third skin). Personally I never know if someone else wanted the skin so I feel like I should be offering it back up if I've changed my mind about it.
if the accent covers less than 5% of the dragon you must offer 2 others with it.
Already answered as part of above
Claiming skins and turning around and selling them, is heavily frowned upon.
Similar to some other people's answers, I've ended up changed my mind on skins and put them up for sale, but I agree that people shouldn't be claiming just to sell, especially with the more expensive ones.
I think we also so need moderators.
Mods would be great! It would help to remind people about bumping rules, and also it could be helpful to track if people are immediately selling the skin they just claimed?
~
Edit with additional info:
I also hate when the thread stalls on me, so I like to add extra options after a day or so if nothing is claimed, idk if that is a good idea to require or not but yeah.

I feel like some of these rules are a slippery slope to creating, almost, an elitist group. I know that there are quite a few skin artists that trade here and have access to all of their own work to trade, which is fine, but it does put them at an advantage to those who don't.
So ok, lets say someone offers up 2 skins, and those are the only skins they really don't mind parting with, but nobody else claims them. For 1. they may not even have another skin to offer. And 2, the person before them, would have probably already sent the skin they claimed. I could see that potentially being a problem for those who got a skin they really liked but didn't have one that anyone else liked. So do they send the skin back? That also doesn't seem very fair because they did follow the rules by posting another skin to continue the game.
Idk. I just think that for those who are talented enough to make skins (which I envy, btw), it certainly puts them at an advantage because they have the stock and they have stock they sell at a good rate too.. thus able to buy additional skins from other artists.
These are just some thoughts I had. It should be as fair as possible but also as inclusive as possible and I just think there could be a problem with that. That said, Idk what the right answer is, but
Fest skins, honestly, could be a good idea. Maybe offering a UMA (at least 1, preferably 2) and if they aren't claimed, offering a fest skin. For older users, they might have some older stock and for newer users they might want one of the older ones.
Another possibility could be an alternate of anything that equals like at least 350g on AH. So if the person's skin(s) aren't claimed then they offer one of the skins and an egg.. or something like that. True, the value in some of those things will most likely not increase, but I think there's some potential there as a possibility.(and adding something that everyone has more of equal access to just by playing)
As for the selling of claimed skins, again, particularly for skins that aren't really moving, claiming to sell could mean basically flipping the skin for something that the person really wants while moving the thread along.
As for the coverage, I wouldn't even have the slightest idea how to even determine that. I know for skin makers, it probably is pretty easy though, again slipping into an elitist group thread territory. However.... If this were to be implemented, I strongly think that the opposite should also be included. I know a lot of people, including myself, who prefer the accent side of skins. So a higher % coverage (maybe equal to the lower, ie 10%/90%) should be considered.
Finally, I know a lot of people belong to their flights going ons.. dom, raffles, etc.. as well as their own personal things of the sort.. perhaps that could be of use. Someone who participates in things that require prizes, claims an unwanted skin to use elsewhere. Could be a prize, reward, part of a welcome package, or to sell for their flights bank, or just for their own funds.. etc.
I know, with most skins being fairly pricey, not everyone can just buy whatever they want so the skins they have are skins they actually really want.. but that means that if something pops up in here they really like, they have to sacrifice a skin they want. Requiring 2 skins makes that harder. Requiring a replacement skin(s) if the one(s) they offered wasn't claimed makes it even that much more harder.. Which is bound to drive people off I think

For 'favorite dragon' forum games, feel free to choose from hibden as well.

Again, these are some of the more expensive items on the site, that can be purchased from the site itself. As stated several times before, that already excludes a lot of the player base.
This is also a UMA TUBMG thread, other items should have their own thread.
If you want to make your own UMA's you can always practice and get better at it, that's the beauty of art. Talent takes practice. Most UMA artists do a pre-oder system anyways.
And more often than not people put singular or cheaper UMA's here *because* they don't sell in the AH, very few people are going to want to claim just to try to flip those themselves.
The suggested rules may deter some people, but they're more of a guarantee to keep the game going with less stall, which is the main issue right now.
I'm not a wealthy or real cash paying user, and after putting so many free ones in the pot I only have 3 UMA's left to play with. All of my owned UMA's are very clear and transparent on my profile. I just had to reprint some of my own to keep playing. But I'm still okay with these rules, and I'm okay with spending a little extra of my savings, because I want the game to keep going. If I wanted to join a gem item/fest item TUBMG thread, I would have.
If you can't afford to play, this may not be the forum game for you. There are other cheaper forum games (that also have their own rules).

It's not your item anymore, so the person can do anything with the skin. I think selling the skin is much better than leaving it to rot in the persons hoard for the rest of eternity. Besides, you can't dictate or shame people to use these items in the way you want.

Hi Sinjin! Thanks for prompting this discussion, I think it was a good idea <3
Fest Skins: I'm not in favor of adding them as bumpers; I agree that it would likely add unnecessary confusion about what's allowed and what isn't.
Hatchling Skins: I don't think there should be a rule about these. They cost the same amount of money to produce and buy as adult skins, and are also require the same level of work and creativity from the artist (often more, since the rules about what can and can't go on them are stricter).
Minimum Skin Requirement: While I do very much understand the concerns about the game remaining accessible, I feel like requiring at least 2 options is best for the thread's health. I also think some of the other issues mentioned will be helped by this.
Low-coverage Accents: I support implementing a policy of having 1 regular coverage skin or accent for each minimalist (5-10%) piece offered. This is NOT because they are bad or less creative, they're just much more niche.
Editing Your Offerings: I think this should be more of a suggestion than a strict rule, but I support the idea of swapping out your options after 24-48 hours if they've gone unclaimed. I do not think people should be allowed to ping someone and tell them to do it, though, since it's not a rule-rule, just a courtesy.
I also support the idea of having extra mods, and am happy to volunteer my services if so desired! I already see most posts anyway xD
