Blossom already knew that Marron was going to die.
As soon as they met him, she sensed an odd feeling. The silver Spiral laughed it off and said it was no biggie, and maybe it was just the anxiety of starting something totally new. Blossom wasn't quite sure. The feeling in her gut was stronger than the usual anxiety, and it made her antennae stand on end. She just couldn't shake the feeling that her first vassal would suffer under her rule. That scared her. A good leader should be able to protect and serve their people, not sit around as they wither away. She hoped that the Spiral's cheerful manner would ward off any unwelcome fate that would come upon them, but she had no idea what she could do to help, if anything at all were to come upon them. She sighed, and decided to wait and see... she'll cross whatever bridge came next, and hopefully she wouldn't have to burn it as well.
That night, a strange sickness had spread among their little kingdom. Despite Iverson and Marron being affected, Blossom was not. Blossom was sure that this was the terrible fate she had been so fearful of. While her mate settled down to rest, weary from the illness, she gathered what little belongings she had and rushed about the town, searching for medicine. She wasn't sure if it could be cured, but perhaps she could ease the pain, even for a little while. She got almost anything and everything she could, including a nice meal and tea. Once ready, she gently opened the door, tiptoeing into Marron's room.
The blue-eyed Spiral laughed, despite himself. This caused him a rough fit of coughing. Blossom quickly helped him with some tea, hoping to help him breathe.
"... Thank you, my queen." A wry smile came upon his face. "How ironic, that the Water dragon could not predict his own fate... But you did, didn't you?" Blossom was astonished. "I think so. How did you know?"
"Well for one... you did all this. Just for me. Your mate is sick too isn't he?" Blossom nodded. "Well, you're here with me. I think that means I'm worse off... Right? And for two..." The spiral sighed, lost in thought. "... I joined this kingdom because I didn't really think I had a future at all. Dragons like me, we often get sent off to be exalted, you know? I thought that I would end up a goner either way, so I wanted to be of service to someone before that happened. And look at me now... I can't help anyone, in a sorry state like this."
Blossom gently tucked her wing over Marron's body. "Marron, don't worry about that. Tonight, it's my turn to help you. I know we've really only known each other for today, but it's my duty as Queen to be there for my people. Right now, that's you. And I wouldn't trade this time for anything in the world. My people, my kingdom, they ARE my world." Blossom smiled. "And if my world is in distress, then I want to continue to protect it, for as long as possible."
Marron coughed again, this time worse than before. "Thank you, my Queen. I don't know if I can be saved, but at least I won't suffer or die alone. I'd like you to have something," he rasped. "In the bedside drawer, there's a silver pocketwatch... an ironic reminder that my time has come. But hey, maybe keep it around and think of me?"
Blossom drew closer to the bed. "Of course," she whispered. And as the night went on, the two eventually drifted to sleep. Only Blossom woke up the next morning, and she quietly left the room with a shining pocketwatch in her talons.

Iverson didn't exactly trust the newest recruit to the kingdom. Sure, they definitely needed another dragon, but somehow it had to be this one. The plain looking Bogsneak had a devilish look to him, but Blossom didn't seem to doubt him, and hopefully she was right. Her instinct was usually spot on, as with Marron, so he tried not to think about it and treated the new dragon as a potential new friend.
That was, until the dark-colored dragon pulled a knife on Blossom. In her trusting nature, she didn't expect it. Galben, the new Bogsneak, had attempted a coup. But in his pride, he didn't even bring anyone else as backup. Just himself. The Bogsneak was certainly larger and heavier than Blossom, but Iverson was taller and stood up to him. Anyone who would intentionally hurt his mate was going to be punished for it. Galben was fierce, and could probably take on Iverson in a fight, but decided it wasn't worth it and gave up. For the rest of the day, Iverson kept a close eye on Blossom. He never left her side.
That afternoon, Blossom asked him about training in the Coliseum. Iverson first rejected the idea, not wanting his beloved to be in danger again. But Blossom was adamant.
"If there are more dragons... that would choose to oppose us," she spoke, "We would stand a better chance defending ourselves if we were stronger. And besides, the new recruit... We can keep an eye on him, see his strength for ourself. Make sure... that doesn't happen again."
Iverson still wasn't sure, but they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either way, they would take a risk. And Blossom was right, the only way to know for sure what the new dragon could do is to see him in battle. So reluctantly, he agreed to take everyone out to train.
They made an awkward team at first, due to everything that happened before, and the fact that two of them were casters and Galben only knew Anticipate. Which means, everyone had to risk a precious turn to gain the Breath to attack with. It was a danger that Iverson was palpably aware of, even if their first location was the Training Fields. He always watched his back as well as Blossom's, fearing that Galben would try to betray them again. But the danger he feared was right in front of him all along. While they were fighting, a particuarly strong blow came upon Blossom. She wavered, and fell to the ground. Iverson screamed, and flew to his beloved's side. She was out cold.
"YOU!" Iverson raised his head feathers in anger, turning to look at Galben. "Did you plan this?! You couldn't kill the Queen yourself, so you..." Iverson choked, too anguished to finish speaking. The Bogsneak did not show any signs of emotion. "The Queen's fate is not my responsibility. Regardless... seeing as you are incapacitated, perhaps I shall assist you. We should carry her body back, anyway."
The dark scaled dragon watched and waited. Iverson scowled and cursed under his breath. The Queen was light enough to carry himself, but he still needed to keep an eye on Galben. So despite the fact that it disgusted him to even think about, he allowed Galben to assist bringing her back, along with some of the other loot.
Blossom was gently laid on her bed. Iverson quickly mumbled "Thank you," and rushed Galben out of their room. As soon as their guest was gone, Iverson tucked her in. Overcome, he cried at the side of the bed. Blossom was their Queen, his love, and had three hatchlings to look forward to. He couldn't bear to lose her. To continue without her.
While sorting through their things from the recent battle, he noticed a Shadow dragon's egg among the loot. She must have saved it and kept it a secret. How ironic, he thought. A life for a life.

Iverson was still on edge from the previous day's events. He had seen the cruelty of other dragons firsthand, and he had also seen the dangers in the coliseum that awaited them. He was not looking forward to the next day's coming battles.
Once they set off on the quest, things seemed to be going unusually well. They found a Velvet Fawn, which Blossom loved to see. She liked anything soft. He thought the velvet archer fish might make for a good meal for her and their nest, eventually. He'd prepare some of the food when they got back.
Since the day was going well, they decided to stay a little longer in the battlefield. They had recently leveled up, so the extra strength did them well. That was, until the Glade Lords came. Iverson thought that they could take them out, because they were casters. But it would take multiple precious turns to weaken them enough. A risk, to be sure, but perhaps the casting turn would service them the mercy of time. They continued on, wary, but confident.
The Glade Lords took their time to gain energy, and the dragons began to retaliate. However, the Glade Lords were stronger than anticipated. A mere hit from one did quite a lot of damage to Iverson alone. Upon impact, he realized it was much more dangerous than they'd thought. Another Glade Lord readied its magic attack, but Iverson saw it was aimed at Blossom. He leapt in front and took the damage, despite knowing it would be fatal.
Blossom, seeing the danger, grabbed him and ran. Once they had reached safety, she stopped and knelt at his side.
"Oh, love... you didn't have to do that for me..."
Iverson smiled despite the pain. "I had to. I couldn't bear to see you hurt again. And we have a nest now, right? Make sure to tell good stories about me."
As Iverson struggled to stay aware of his surroundings, he felt the gentle warmth of Blossom's body against his own. There they rested, for as long as a time that Iverson couldn't remember its full length.

So that guy was the newbie I trained today.

So bad news with the meat... seeing how last time's meat drop went, I'm a little worried.
But good news, the nest hatched!

As nesting comes before any drop actions, let's roll for the hatches.
Tails, Heads, Tails
Well RIP those two.
Meat food -> 40-50 fights
Well now that I've fought, it wasn't so bad. Thank goodness for the newbie. Thanks to the rules, I can't go to Woodland Path again until the newbie is lvl 4, so the Training Fields is a lot safer. Despite less EXP, Sadri got a level up.
This bag of jerky is weeks old, but still keeps a great taste and texture.

Tarnished Doubloon
Holiday Items
An old currency that's still used in coastal regions for trade. (Pirate Day Currency Item.)

D20 roll for event -> 1 (Scandal or romance?)
Who's baby is it? Nobody knows! We have 1 on breeding cooldown and 1 Ancient, so... let's hatch that egg I got earlier!

I love orca. but flaxen and beige work well together, so IDK if I should go for Orca based scries or scries for the other 2 colors
