So! This is my third attempt at a fodderlocke. Hopefully it'll last.
Now, while my first attempt is lost to history, I still remember the lore from the second one (you could probably find the thread, if you looked through my post history), so I'm honoring it by making this a sort of sequel and reusing the thread name (this is definitely a reference and not just because I'm awful at naming things). However, absolutely no knowledge of the previous 'locke's lore is required, and no dragons have carried over.
Now, as is my tradition, to start with a dramatic introduction of the starting cast and setting...

Waveheart was, if nothing else, an ambitious dragon. She was born and raised in the Lightning Flight, having moved to the Starfall Isles only recently, and it showed. She was clever, too, to a certain degree. Not quite conniving, but she came close. Very close.
Now, the part of the Crystalspines in which she inhabited was known for its crime, but one group had topped it all: the Erisians. They had never gone by the name officially, but their leader—Eris—was so infamous it was only fitting. Until, of course, they had simply...disappeared. Went dark. When Eris and her lackeys were arrested, it was official: a spot for a new empire had opened.
Years went by without someone claiming it. Eventually, Waveheart took her chances...and struck. She took inspiration from Eris in her outfit—while she thought Eris's giant, face covering crown was a bit over-the-top and opted for a smaller one instead, she did use the same style of cloak. A homage, of sorts.
Then, after some learning how to fight, it was time for Waveheart to assemble a team. She only chose dragons she already knew, to hopefully minimize the chances of any betrayal.
For her right-paw-dragon, she chose Verheizen. Ver was a childhood friend of Waveheart's, and had proven that she was perfectly loyal. She had a certain charisma about her, perfect for recruiting others and making deals with others. (The latter was further serviced by the skill with which she lied.) She had some skill in a fight, but not more than Waveheart. Quite frankly, Waveheart didn't think there was much better as a second-in-command than Ver.
Then were the Veilspun triplets—Haruto, Winterblossom, and Bex. They were a skilled set of thieves, for sure, but they never seemed to have any idea of what to do. When given direction, however, they could be truly formidable. They were fairly loyal, especially when they had the incentive of profit, and Waveheart thinks that if she can learn to actually tell them apart they'll stay just so they don't have to deal with their boss constantly mixing them up.
And now that she had the beginnings of a team, Waveheart could start to truly build her empire...

I'm using the rules in the original thread, although everyone's bumped up a level, since I prefer to level my fodder to level 7, not level 6.
I'll post a blurb of what happened everyday, and when I'm feeling like it/when big lore events happen, there'll be a short story to go along with it! If you want to know when I update, feel free to ask to be put on the pinglist.

I decided to do two days in one today, since the first was really boring.
Birdun joined the team. He can't wait to start doing crime. He's also weirdly okay with violence, but they did need another fighter, so...
Also, Waveheart's cousin Aviri managed to convince her to let him join, despite his total lack of skills. He isn't doing anything for anyone. (Also, don't get too attached to him.)
Davgretor joined, too! Some say that their charge is their thieves' tools, and it might be true. They are a masterful thief, and possibly managed to threaten Waveheart to let them join by stealing half her treasure. Possibly. But they couldn't confirm it.
After this, Waveheart decided that the two hours Aviri had been with them were two too many, and she sent him to rob a grocery store, where he was arrested after a grand total of five minutes, when he spent so long trying to decide what kind of ice cream he should steal, that some officers managed to put him in cuffs without his noticing. He's now in the ranks of the Exalted as...punishment? It was the only job that would take him. Poor guy.

Still not much. Pinktoe joined the gang. (Interesting name, there.) He's ready to fight. He's also trying to boss everyone else around, although it's not really working. He might like to think he's in charge, but everyone knows who's really in charge.
Haruto and Bex went on a minor heist, and luckily, they came back fine! They get better with each and every job. In fact, if Bex gets just a little more experience, she might be more qualified than Waveheart to lead their little gang...

Vessel joined the gang! An old friend of Bex's, he's a strategist above all else, and is quickly proving his ability to plan heists better than anyone else.
And there's been some new developments on the relationship front... Winterblossom and Vhostym are in a romance, and apparently not willing to be separated. Wherever one goes, the other will follow.

Day 5!
Today was exciting—I've got a short story and everything! But first, the new recruit.
Falconhand is seemingly eager and naive, constantly asking questions with wide-eyed innocence. But many dragons have sworn seeing her with a calculated look on her face, sharp-eyed and waiting to strike. No one knows what she's planning, or if she's planning anything at all...
And now for the short story, feat. a coup!

Waveheart was at her desk, checking over the plans that Vessel had brought her the day before, and wondering what they would try and steal this time. Dav was itching to try for bigger fish than they'd been getting, and their little band—the Wavens, she'd started calling them—was running a little low on funds...
Maybe she'd send Bex. Bex was looking like she would try something any day now. If Waveheart sent her on something dangerous enough—
Her thoughts were interrupted when the new recruit—Falconwing? Falconheart?— flapped up onto her desk, a mask of anxiety and timidness on her face. "Uh—Bex—Bex wants to talk with you. I thought I would warn you first."
Waveheart had only known Falcon (as she had taken to calling her in her head) for a few days, but she was already pretty sure that she was much, much more than she seemed, and Waveheart had a bad feeling that Bex wanted to do much more than just "talk."
Sure enough, a few moments later, the door slammed open, pushed by Dav, and Bex flew in, situating herself on the edge of Waveheart's desk, a proud grin on her face.
"This is a coup," Bex said, even though Waveheart already knew it.
"No, it is not," she growled in reply, standing up and putting her front paws on the desk. "Ver'll stop you. Birdun, too."
Bex only laughed. "Oh, Ver will be of no help to you here and now. With Falconhand here's help," she said, nodding to the Fae in question, "I've made sure that Ver is much too distracted to help you. As for Birdun, she's on our side. Really, I;m not sure what you expected."
Waveheart looked around, quickly running out of options. "Pinktoe!" she called. He came into the room, head held high, looking at her with an air of something approaching disdain.
"Bex promised that I'd be high up if I helped her. You won't be getting anything from me, either."
"Face it, Wave. You're done for," Bex said, hovering barely an inch away from her nose.
"Where do you even want me to go?" Waveheart yelled. "How will you know where I've gone?"
Bex grinned again. "Oh, we have plans. You're going to the Exalted."
Waveheart started backwards and blinked, stunned, before regaining her footing. "You'll fail! You won't get anywhere without me!"
Bex shrugged, an impressive feat considering she was still hovering."I've managed to convince everyone but Ver. With Vessel and Falconhand on my right—"
"And me," Pinktoe interrupted.
Bex rolled her eyes. "—and Pinktoe on my left," she continued, glaring at him, "I'm sure we'll manage somehow. Actually, I think we'll do better than you've been. You're not a very good leader. Remember Aviri?"
Waveheart ignored the insult and asked, "Why are you doing this?"
Bex rolled her eyes again. "I swear, weren't you listening to anything I just said? Besides, why wouldn't I do this?"
Waveheart huffed. "What—"
"I think you've had enough to say," Bex said. "Dav?"
Davgretor squeezed through the door, her wings only just managing to fit in the frame. "You're coming with me," she said, and Waveheart reluctantly went to walk by her side, aware that Dav was big enough compared to her that Waveheart would have a hard time actually winning a fight against her.
As they went into the hall, she noticed all of the dragons that hadn't been in her office—sans Verheizen—standing just outside the door. "All of you?" she asked, feeling a bit betrayed.
"Yes," answered Vhostym, sitting on Birdun's head with Winterblossom and covering her with his wing.
"Bex told you," Haruto said.
"I didn't quite believe her," Waveheart replied quietly, look down and away.
"Chop-chop," Bex said from behind her. "Don't want you taking up space in here for too much longer."
Waveheart swung her head back and glared at Bex. "I swear to the Stormcatcher—" she began.
"Good thing you're going to the Arcanist, then," Bex grinned.

Two new recruits today! Razzle and Jadeclaw joined the gang today, and at the same time! They're sisters with a history of getting into all sorts of trouble—or they would be, if they got caught. While perhaps not as good a team as the Veil triplets, the two of them can certainly be effective.
And to top it off, there was a major heist! There were a couple major casualties...
Bex, Birdun, Davgretor, Pinktoe, and Falconhand were all caught, arrested, and are now in the ranks of the Exalted. Bex's reign really didn't last long.
Verzeihen, Haruto, Winterblossom, Vhostym, Vessel, Razzle, and Jadeclaw, however, were all successful in their missions and got back to base with more experience on their hands.
Verzeihen, being the oldest and strongest survivor, has risen to fill the power vacuum left by Bex. She seems to be headed in a direction similar to the one Waveheart was...

We're a week in now. Today was boring, especially in contrast to the past two days.
Shade joined the gang! She has very few actual skills, but Ver was eager to get their numbers back up after yesterday, so she got in with very few questions asked.
To combat this, however, she was sent on a small mission with Winterblossom. Luckily, they both came back fine.

Days 8 and 9!
I ended up forgetting to do yesterday's post, so it gets lumped in with today.
Day 8:
Flameback joined the gang. She's a hard taskmaster, and works very efficiently in turn, just what they need to get back on their feet.
Shade and Razzle went costume shopping, and came back with [item=nebula starsilk cloak].
Today:
Fade joined the gang. He's got the spirit, that's for sure, but no one knows if he's got the skill. Maybe he does. Maybe he doesn't.
And now: another coup. I'm being serious. At least Ver lasted longer than Bex. (To save you a bit of time, Haruto’s the new leader. Wonder how long he’ll last.
Short story time, I guess?

Ver was sitting in her office—as is typical of leaders of criminal gangs who are about to be overthrown—wondering what their next move would be. It couldn’t be too big, since Razzle and Shade had gone costume shopping, instead of anything useful, like she had asked them to, and while the cloak they’d gotten was pretty, it wouldn’t be of any use in a heist.
Then the door slammed open, half-smashed to pieces by Flameback’s antler. Ver got up immediately, since nothing good could come from this.
Her fears were confirmed when Haruto flew up to her nose and stated, matter-of-factly, “This is a coup.”
Ver blinked. ”Again?” she asked, shocked, but she got over herself quickly. “It’s only been a week since Bex was arrested, and she only lasted a few days. I think that such…rapid changes in power are rather bad for our ability to get anything done.”
Haruto snorted. “You’re doing the exact same thing Waveheart did, and we got nowhere like that. At least we tried when Bex was leader. And I think that her arrest was far more orchestrated than you’ve led us to believe.”
He grinned, and continued, “When you found out about the first coup, you were upset. We all noticed. It’s why we made sure to distract you in the first place; you would have stopped us. And after that, you were desperate to make sure Waveheart’s legacy lived on—but it didn’t. That Bex was going to be different was clear after the first hour. So once she announced the big job, you ratted us out…and made sure she’d be in the crossfire, not caring about who else came with her. They were all traitors in your mind, too, weren’t they? And you seemed oddly prepared to step up when we realized what happened. Very oddly prepared. Almost as if you knew what would happen.”
Ver drew back. “Traitor!” she snapped.
Haruto waved her off. “Oh, I’ve heard it before. Now, off you go. You’ll be happy to see your old buddy Waveheart in the Exalted. Maybe.”
Ver growled at him as Shade came into the room to lead her off. “You’ll regret this!” she yelled, as she was taken off.
“I’m sure I will,” Haruto replied lazily, before Verheizen was out the door for good.
“You know,” Flameback said into the ensuing silence, “I’ve only been here a day, but I think you all don’t get anything done because of how often you have to replace your leaders.”
“Shut up,” Vessel whispered to her. “They’ll stop if you point it out, and the drama is too good.”

So. That’s that. I’m honestly impressed at how fast they’re losing leaders.
