Their journey led them down to the Greatwyrm's Breach, where they encountered another expedition group that was just returning. Their way back home was cut off from a landslide however, and a beast began hunting down dragons one by one.
On their trip further into the canyon, the beast revealed itself to be an Aberration named Tusk, and told him that Falcon was no longer with them. Aspen became furious at this, and swore to hunt down the beast. In his chase however, the others were endangered, and Morning Sun wished to stop him. An encounter with a skeletal wyrm spelt the end of both Aspen and Morning Sun, and now the others have to find their way out without their help.

When a new royal is selected, roll a 1d6 to choose what kind of rule they shall have over the land.
[b]1. Dark Lord[/b] - A ruler tainted with evil.
[+] If your royal is about to die they can sacrifice two dragons in their place or sacrifice the heir in their place. They can also sacrifice any level 5+ dragon to gain 1 level.
[+] Due to the misdeeds of the Dark Lord, necromancers have mastered their magic. If a necromancer dies, their Shades always return back to a normal dragon.
[-] The land is cursed thanks to the evil of the Dark Lord. Roll a 4 sided dice for a possible curse every day.
[indent][font=book antiqua][size=4][b]1.[/b] Food shortage
There's not enough food for the kingdom. Roll a 10 sided dice for all dragons and hatchlings in your kingdom besides your royal. On a 1 the dragon/hatchling dies of starvation. (If you have a gardener, nothing happens.)
[b]2.[/b] Nothing happens...
[b]3.[/b] Sacrifice for the greater good.
Choose a random dragon as a sacrifice. A festival is held for a sacrificial blessing and that dragon is exalted regardless of lives.
[b]4.[/b] Evil threatens to take total control of your Royal. Roll a d20. On a 1 darkness falls and there is a great calamity. all hatchlings are exalted instantly and adult dragons must roll a 10 sided dice. On a 1 they are exalted/lose a life.[/indent]
[font=book antiqua][size=4][b]2. Wizard King/ Archmage[/b] - A ruler blessed with magic.
[+] Through deep connections with magic, your royal can sense what's happening in the universe. If you pull a material or trinket, you roll for an event as usual. If you dislike the outcome, flip a coin to see if you can roll again. On heads you can roll again, but you must go for the second choice. If you have a fortune teller you may flip a coin again for a third chance.
[-] Magic and technology don't mix very well. if you have an Engineer, they roll a 10-sided dice instead of a 20-sided dice.
[b]3. Elder[/b] - A ruler grounded in tradition.
[+] You may throw a festival for a blessing If a nest produces 4+ eggs.
Festivals also now provide one dragon with an opportunity to ask the 11 for guidance. During festivals, you can reroll one dragon's job up to two times.
[-] Dragons keep to their own traditions and might not welcome all newcomers into the clan. If you have to add a dragon from the auction house for any reason roll a 6 sided dice. On a 1 the dragon is not accepted into the clan.
[b]4. Boss[/b] - A ruler with criminal ties
[+] Assassins are automatically redeemed and do not try to kill dragons. Instead, they act as recruiters. For every assassin you can have one dragon join your kingdom.
[+] If a dragon rolls a job that is already filled in, you may roll once more for another job.
[-] The Royal cannot fight in the coliseum at any time and cannot gain any XP. The only way to win is to have a full kingdom.
[b]5. Monarch[/b] - A ruler of a kingdom
[+] Any [i]relative[/i] or [i]child[/i] of the Royal can give up their job and become an Heir. Heirs lay claim to the throne if the Royal dies.
[+] If your monarch or heir is about to die, a knight can step in to sacrifice a life for them. Knights also now gain 4 lives instead of 3.
[-] Dragons are more likely to overthrow your Royal in a coup. If you get the coup event, instead of a 20 sided dice you roll a 12 sided dice.
[b]6. General[/b] - A ruler skilled in combat
[+] Each day you can choose 3 separate dragons and have them gain 1 level in coli. During leveling the dragons cannot die by fainting. The selected dragons must not be higher level than the general.
[-] When you do choose to train up to 3 dragons, roll a 1d10 for each dragon. On a 1 the training was too grueling for them and they lose a life.
[-] Weak dragons are not acceptable. All adult dragons at level 1 must roll a 10 sided dice each day. On a 1 they are exalted.

Custom Rules rules | entries | past lives | chapters | custom rules Sometimes life needs some extra rules to make it a thrilling time. Below lists new rules and restrictions to make it so.
Royal Rules
When a new royal is selected, roll a 1d6 to choose what kind of rule they shall have over the land.
1. Dark Lord - A ruler tainted with evil.
[+] If your royal is about to die they can sacrifice two dragons in their place or sacrifice the heir in their place. They can also sacrifice any level 5+ dragon to gain 1 level.
[+] Due to the misdeeds of the Dark Lord, necromancers have mastered their magic. If a necromancer dies, their Shades always return back to a normal dragon.
[-] The land is cursed thanks to the evil of the Dark Lord. Roll a 4 sided dice for a possible curse every day.
1. Food shortage
There's not enough food for the kingdom. Roll a 10 sided dice for all dragons and hatchlings in your kingdom besides your royal. On a 1 the dragon/hatchling dies of starvation. (If you have a gardener, nothing happens.)
2. Nothing happens...
3. Sacrifice for the greater good.
Choose a random dragon as a sacrifice. A festival is held for a sacrificial blessing and that dragon is exalted regardless of lives.
4. Evil threatens to take total control of your Royal. Roll a d20. On a 1 darkness falls and there is a great calamity. all hatchlings are exalted instantly and adult dragons must roll a 10 sided dice. On a 1 they are exalted/lose a life.
2. Wizard King/ Archmage - A ruler blessed with magic.
[+] Through deep connections with magic, your royal can sense what's happening in the universe. If you pull a material or trinket, you roll for an event as usual. If you dislike the outcome, flip a coin to see if you can roll again. On heads you can roll again, but you must go for the second choice. If you have a fortune teller you may flip a coin again for a third chance.
[-] Magic and technology don't mix very well. if you have an Engineer, they roll a 10-sided dice instead of a 20-sided dice.
3. Elder - A ruler grounded in tradition.
[+] You may throw a festival for a blessing If a nest produces 4+ eggs.
Festivals also now provide one dragon with an opportunity to ask the 11 for guidance. During festivals, you can reroll one dragon's job up to two times.
[-] Dragons keep to their own traditions and might not welcome all newcomers into the clan. If you have to add a dragon from the auction house for any reason roll a 6 sided dice. On a 1 the dragon is not accepted into the clan.
4. Boss - A ruler with criminal ties
[+] Assassins are automatically redeemed and do not try to kill dragons. Instead, they act as recruiters. For every assassin you can have one dragon join your kingdom.
[+] If a dragon rolls a job that is already filled in, you may roll once more for another job.
[-] The Royal cannot fight in the coliseum at any time and cannot gain any XP. The only way to win is to have a full kingdom.
5. Monarch - A ruler of a kingdom
[+] Any relative or child of the Royal can give up their job and become an Heir. Heirs lay claim to the throne if the Royal dies.
[+] If your monarch or heir is about to die, a knight can step in to sacrifice a life for them. Knights also now gain 4 lives instead of 3.
[-] Dragons are more likely to overthrow your Royal in a coup. If you get the coup event, instead of a 20 sided dice you roll a 12 sided dice.
6. General - A ruler skilled in combat
[+] Each day you can choose 3 separate dragons and have them gain 1 level in coli. During leveling the dragons cannot die by fainting. The selected dragons must not be higher level than the general.
[-] When you do choose to train up to 3 dragons, roll a 1d10 for each dragon. On a 1 the training was too grueling for them and they lose a life.
[-] Weak dragons are not acceptable. All adult dragons at level 1 must roll a 10 sided dice each day. On a 1 they are exalted.

[size=4][font=book antiqua]It is the first evening that I and my companions are resting after a day's travel on our journey down the path to the Greatwyrm's Breach. We got all of the supplies we need before we left the Colonnades of Antiquity, and we've made good progress today on our journey. The roads were easy to follow since we were following the main road down to the Earth's capital, Terraclae, and there were plenty fellow travellers too along it. We're on track for the path I've planned out, so tomorrow we shall continue down this road and make our first turn off once we reach the town of Burrow.
Auntor is singing a jolly tune to Phedre and I as I write this. Although I had my doubts about him when he asked to join me on my travels, since he sincerely told me he has no skills to offer other than morale, something inside me was drawn to let him on board. I suspect it was because almost nobody else was willing to join me after I had spent the whole day in the cramped markets searching for mercenaries, but I had a good sense about him, and my ma always told me to trust my instincts when it came to dragons. He's been wonderfully cheerful, regaling us of stories he's picked up during his travels across Sornieth, and it's a nice change of pace from what I'm used to. His tales keeps the travel from getting too dull, which is important for making sure we stay vigilant during it. I wonder whether he wishes to make our trip into another one of his songs.
While Auntor I have a good sense for, Phedre I am not so sure. She is a strong, hardy type, expected from a Plague dragon, but I worry that she has a dislike for Auntor due to his lack of physical strength. As a hired mercenary, the only one I managed to find willing to join me for the potential treasures we might find, I think she finds him to be another one to guard rather than a helper. Her tongue is curt, and while Auntor was not around she had told me that Auntor will merely be a hindrance to this journey, considering where we are headed. I remain steadfast in my decision to keep him with us, but Phedre is disappointed by this. Until he proves that he will actively endanger us on our trip, we shall keep him with us.
Despite her harsh words about him, now as we rest I can see that she is enjoying the tales of legendary Plague warriors that Auntor is telling. I believe that the first couple days will be a little rough between the two, but they'll grow to be closer and like each other.
As the campfire's starting to dwindle down now, I shall lay my pencil to rest. I love the glow of the charcoals in the nighttime, it reminds me of the comfortable nights with my family. I'd have a warm slice of toasted bread with butter, and then rest beside my siblings to tell them a story.
I am nervous for the future ahead of us all, but it shall be worth it if it all goes to plan.
