Forming the crew
You can't go out on the dangerous sea alone.
Roll for 3 random dragon breeds (1-19) and buy the cheapest adult dragons of those breeds from the AH. If named, you can rename them however you wish.
These 3 are now the Captain, First Mate and Second Mate. I assigned them in the order I bought them in, but feel free to choose these ranks yourself.

Pinkerton Loot:
Food: Gather some supplies!
It's time to get off the ship and grab anything useful!!
Go to the Coliseum and randomly choose 3 dragons from your main crew(or choose one from a side crew, if it makes sense story-wise or your crew doesn't have 3 dragons). Choose any venue you wish, will you risk it or play it safe?
Whatever you chose, you need to gather supplies for your ship. Stay in the coli and fight off your enemies till you find a rare drop!
RARE COLI DROPS
- Apparel: Fancy! One of your crewmates may wear it and their rank may be changed to Fashionist, no matter what their current rank is.
/ Sell if all your crew are ancient breeds
- Familiar: You've gained a loyal companion! One of your crewmates befriends it and may be promoted to a Beast Tamer, no matter their current rank.
/ Sell if it's a dupe.
- Festival Chest: You've found treasure! One of your crewmates may wear the skin/accent.
/ If you don't have the breed, feel free to save it for later or sell it.
- Gene: A strange mutation from the island has changed your appearence.
/ Apply to your crewmate or sell.
- Unhatched Egg: An unborn new life. Will it join your ranks or end up overboard?
/ Hatch and make it part of the locke or sell... Or save it for later or hatch for your main lair.
- Eliminate: Your powers have awakened!
/ Apply to one of your crewmates or sell. If applied, the crewmate has to be promoted to a fighter position of your choice. (Exceptions: Captain, First Mate, Second Mate)
Be careful though!!
If a dragon falls in a battle,
they have died and are no longer a part of the piratelocke.
That's why you're allowed to refresh or flee from battles when you are low on HP or feel like your dragons can't defeat the enemy.
Some crew ranks have multiple life points, which you can also gain from other activities.
Losing a life point results into a demotion.
After you're done with coli, flip a coin for each of the 3 dragons. If heads, the dragon can get promoted (gains a life point if at max rank). If tails, nothing happens.
You may also apply berserks, ambushes and other stones to your dragons at any point, EXCEPT for Eliminate, which has to be earned.
Materials & Trinkets: Story time!
Progress in your story, either by writing or doing art!
Make sketches, write a paragraph or two or do a full art piece or a whole story chapter, that's up to you!
You can of course do all this for daily Locke updates without grabbing material or a trinket from Pinkerton, so this is completely optional and can be skipped if your creative juices aren't present.
Familiars: New Recruit!
Your crew is constantly in need of dragons to fill in important positions. It's time to recruit some new members!
You can either buy a dragon off the AH or breed your crewmates to gain new dragons.
Buying a dragon
As when starting out, roll for a random breed and buy the cheapest one on the AH. Rename them if you wish. Then roll for their rank.
Possible starting ranks:
1) Janitor
2) Voyager
3) Cabin Mate
4) Soldier
5) Handyderg
Breeding dragons
You can breed any dragons of the locke, even though they aren't in the same crew (could lead to some interesting lore haha).
Unfortunately, the sea is harsh and unforgiving.
Once you hatch the eggs, flip a coin for each hatchling. If heads, the hatchling gets to live and join your crew. If tails, the hatchling is swept away by a sea storm and you either have to exalt it or sell it.
If a hatchling survives, you may roll for their rank once they grow into an adult.
With the obtained familiar, feel free to sell it or apply it to a crewmate.
Apparel: Pretty face!
After visiting a nearby town, one of your dragons has gained a new look.
You may change a dragon's appearence however you wish - give them a whole outfit, apply a gene or a breedchange, change their eyes...
Updated look also calls for a promotion! Feel free to promote them to any of their available ranks.
Flip a coin - if heads, the dragon gains an additional life point, no matter the rank. If tails, nothing happens.
If the dragon is already at their max rank, you can add a life point without having to flip the coin.
Battle items: Enemy ship on the horizon!
Life on the sea is rough and you may end up having to fight a different crew. And not everyone is able to survive without a scar...
Flip a coin.
If heads, the other ship is friendly and lets you go to a new island or town to gather supplies - works the same as if you grabbed food from Pinkerton, but your dragons are immune to coli deaths.
If tails, the other ship engages in a fight.
Randomly choose 3 dragons with the fighter position (If you don't have 3, select the rest of the coli team randomly) and go into the coli - choose a venue coresponding to the dragon with the highest level out of the 3.
Fight in the coli for 10 consecutive matches, without refreshing or fleeing (you can quit midway if a dragon dies). If any of your dragons dies but they have additional life points, they only lose a life point.
(which results in a demotion)
If a dragon falls, you suffer a great loss and if they have 0 life points, you must exalt them or sell them. If all 3 dragons survive, congrats! You've won the fight and all 3 dragons have become awakened - meaning you can apply an Eliminate to them at any time. They also receive a rank promotion. If they are at their max rank, add a life point.
Retirement & Losing
- Once a dragon reaches level 25, they may retire and join your main lair.
-
You lose if you end up with 2 or less dragons in your main crew. You can make dragons from another crew join your main crew, but only as the last resort and the rest of the side crew has to disband (exalt them/sell them/put them back in your main lair).
