She loves creating new technology, and seems to have hundreds of new ideas each day. If it wasn’t for some of her more dedicated fellows’ coaxing, in fact, she would likely abandon and start projects every few hours. She is tirelessly loud and cheerful, often to an irritating degree, and will happily talk for hours about all sorts of subjects, but most willingly about her many ideas. She isn’t always boundlessly energetic, however. When a storm rolls in from the distance, she often sits and quietly watches it approach, awestruck by its power and beauty. Sometimes, she flies to meet it, soaring through the charged skies with seemingly no worry about the lightning bolts flickering around her. Covering a decently-sized area, they are relatively far apart. One of these tunnels comes up into a rocky garden, full of cacti and succulents, that stretches over a fairly wide area, and is much thicker and more varied than the rest of the Highland Scrub in its plant life. This is where Desert Rose lives. Desert Rose is an eccentric mirror who inhabits the large cavern just below this garden. Their cave is sizable, but usually cramped due to the plant samples, and actual live plants, cluttering up the space. The above-ground garden is also part of their ‘territory’, and they spend most of their days (and nights) tending to it, experimenting with new hybrids and the potential ‘medicinal’ effects of the plants. Most dragons in Xadsiol’s clan tend to stay away from the mirror, which has never bothered Desert Rose. They’re usually awkward and gruff in the company of other dragons - but if they meet someone else with a similar interest in plants, namely succulents and cacti, they’ll happily talk for hours on end. Here, you can find a small bamboo hut that is surrounded, nearly as far as the eye can see, by bountiful strawberry fields. This is Darcy’s strawberry farm. She happily spends her days toiling in the fields, harvesting fresh strawberries and tying them onto her wings, before she returns to her humble home at dusk. She sells these strawberries to locals, or trades them to a group of windborne traders who frequent the area every few months. She’s a relaxed, but somewhat socially inept dragon, often being accidentally rude and never even noticing that she upset someone. She always means well, though, and many of the local dragons and clans are grateful to her for providing an easy source of relatively cheap food - although, of course, dragons who don’t eat plants don’t benefit from her services. They rest at certain known spots for days or weeks, trading with the locals, before again taking off the winds, following a winding course across the plateau until they inevitably return, though who knows how much later, to where they started. They are known as the Windborne Travelers, and their leader is named Petal. She is a young Spiral - hardly out of adolescence, really, but nearly as mature (if a bit less decisive and rational) as she would be if she were older. She is the daughter of the former leader and founder of the group, who has since retired - but her retirement was not before she taught Petal, who had happily volunteered as an older hatchling, on how to take her place. Petal loves the role, and her group - the freedom that comes with it, and the knowledge that they are an important part of the plateau in the way they trade resources all across the plateau, even in places they wouldn’t otherwise be found. Petal may be a bit impulsive and careless, but the more experienced members of the Windborne Travellers make sure she doesn’t make any big mistakes, while she makes sure that everyone still enjoys themselves.
