After returning from a long hiatus, I'm in the process of clearing out my lair and making some new lore. The lore is the problem, because I have a habit of, well, not making any. I recently discovered Biolockes and decided that that's what I'm going to do to give myself some incentive!!

The rules are tangentially related to the classic Pinkerlocke: each daily item pulled from Pinkerton's Plundered Pile dictates which action is done that day. The following key will be used for progress:
[emoji=cloud size=1] - Section not started
[emoji=crescent moon 1 size=1] - Section in progress
[emoji=sun size=1] - Section complete
[emoji=insect size=1][emoji=meat size=1] Food - Profile [emoji=plant size=1][emoji=seafood size=1]
This is the dragon's "fact sheet" - basic information about them. This can be prose or a sidebar, whatever works. The type of food determines the information added to the profile:
[emoji=meat size=1] - Three words or a short quote to describe dragon's personality
[emoji=seafood size=1] - Describe the dragon's role in the clan
[emoji=insect size=1] - One strength, one weakness
[emoji=plant size=1] - Their relationship with another dragon in the clan
If a dragon has no name, naming the dragon takes precedence.

This is a section of prose either telling the dragon's backstory or a short story about their daily lives. The rarity of the trinket item determines the minimum number of words that must be written:
[emoji=star size=1] - 25 words
[emoji=star size=1][emoji=star size=1] - 50 words
[emoji=star size=1][emoji=star size=1][emoji=star size=1] - 100 words

Rules

Their relationship with another dragon in the clan
If a dragon has no name, naming the dragon takes precedence.
Material or Trinket - Lore
This is a section of prose either telling the dragon's backstory or a short story about their daily lives. The rarity of the trinket item determines the minimum number of words that must be written:

I believe Pinkerton only gives out 1 or 2 star items, so I'll be using a random generator to get a new rarity for items I pull from his pile.
Familiar - General Lore
Write or code a lair tab description, make some overarching lore for your lair, come up with a headcanon, etc. Some lore linked to no specific dragon.
Apparel - Outfit or Genes
Plan an outfit or gene plan for a dragon, or add a new gene or apparel piece to a dragon with an outfit or gene plan.
Battle Item - BBCoding
Tidy up a dragon's bio using an existing bio template or by creating your own.

tell me if there's any others cws you think I should add!
“What’s that filthy half-shadow doing here?”
“Dunno. Watch it, you shadow-stinker. I have my eye on you.”
“That’s right, go cowering back to the Rotdark or wherever you belong!”
Dusk padded through the Mirrorlight Promenade, her ears flat and her tail lashing in agitation. She stayed silent, ignoring the jeering taunts of the other Light dragons, and kept her wings tucked close around herself. Usually, if she kept her head down, they left her alone.
Today, however, a growl stopped her and she looked up to see a grey Skydancer blocking her path. “Swallow, I told you to stay out of my part of the Mirrorlight Promenade,” the dragon hissed, ruffling her feathers in agitation. Bags stuffed with scrolls and crystals hung around her, but her most distinctive trait was her eyes. They were bright, hot golden-white and seemed to shine with the power of trapped suns. It was said that dragons with these eyes were blessed by the primal energy of the Lightweaver herself.
Dusk dipped her head low before the Skydancer, her chin almost brushing the warm stone beneath her. “I’m sorry, Archivist Peregrine,” she said, carefully maintaining a neutral but respectful tone. “I haven’t had time to pack my belongings yet.”
Peregrine narrowed her eyes, dimming their radiance for a moment. “And you’re so busy doing what, may I ask, Swallow?”
The question was obviously rhetorical. Dusk apologized again, her tail curled around her legs and her ears flat.
“You have until tomorrow evening,” said Peregrine coldly. “I do not want to see your face again here after that unless you are here for business.” Then she swept away, leaving behind nothing but the scent of old papers and a smug whispering from onlookers.
Growling, Dusk spread her wings and rose up into the bright blue sky, her scales reflecting the light. She soared high above the ruins, watching the bustle below her. There were dragons with dark scales, but few with scales both dark and purple as hers were. Even so, those whose scales were dark like wheres were likely were still left alone. Dusk’s circumstances were special, for not only did her dark colouring inevitably remind the Light dragons of the detested dragons from the Tangled Woods, but it was a well-known fact that her father truly was a Shadow dragon. Gossip always spread fast in the Sunbeam Ruins, likely due to the abundance of Pearlcatchers, and this was the most interesting bit of gossip for years.
Gritting her teeth, Dusk flapped her wings and caught an air current leading away from the ruins, towards the border of the Tangled Wood.
Behind Dusk, she heard the soft crunching of grass underfoot. She turned with a growl in her throat, but relaxed somewhat when she saw it was only Radiant. He was one dragon who didn’t seem to fear or hate her - ironic, since he was the apprentice of Archivist Peregrine herself. He, too, had the bright glowing eyes that the Light dragons considered a blessing. Dusk didn’t understand why he wanted to be friends with her. She herself was considered something of a curse.
“Peregrine told me about what happened earlier,” he said, wincing. “Sorry I wasn’t there to, I don’t know, tell her off.”
Dusk rolled her eyes. “She never listens to anyone. Least of all her own apprentice who’s friends with the dragon she’s moaning at.”
Radiant settled next to her. “Still,” he said. There was silence. “You can just move a bit out of her territory, you know. Maybe the western side of the Promenade? They’re usually a bit more open to out-” He stopped himself hastily, guilt in his eyes. “A bit less caring about, uh, scale colour.”
Dusk didn’t mention his slip-up. “I guess I could.”
“They’ll get used to you eventually…” Radiant said, attempting to be comforting. “It’s just because you’re the most interesting gossip at the moment.”
“Thanks,” Dusk said sarcastically.
“No, really.” He chuckled. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that… I mean, they aren’t so bad, really.”
Easy for you to say. She looked him over. His eyes were literally considered a blessing, his scales were golden and reflected the sun almost blindingly, and he was born to two of the most loyal, high-ranked Pearlcatchers in the entire Promenade. Of course nobody was unfriendly to him. They practically groveled before him.
But Dusk didn’t voice these thoughts. Instead she just said, “Maybe you’re right.”
“Of course I’m right!” Radiant grinned. “I’m the Archivist’s apprentice. I’m always right.”
Not always, Dusk sighed inwardly. But she smiled at him. “Yeah, yeah. You’d better head back before Peregrine decides I’ve killed you or something and arrests me.”
Dusk’s pearl felt heavy and cold in the pouch against her chest as she paused at the edge of the cliff. The night had cast a veil of darkness over the world, blotting out the Lightweaver’s seemingly-eternal brightness. The cliff fell away just before Dusk’s claws, down into the thunderous ocean. The shore down below was misty and dark, black silt and shingle replacing golden sand. This was the Shadowbinder’s domain.
Dusk reached up over her head and grabbed the satchel with her pearl, sliding it off and placing it on the ground. She opened it. Her pearl was protected by a layer of shimmering, iridescent cloth. She tucked it back inside the satchel and hung it on the branch of a nearby pine. Hopefully Radiant would find it if he came looking for her.
She stepped to the cliff’s edge and spread her wings. The Sunbeam Ruins had never truly felt like a home. Nobody there cared for her, except Radiant. She didn’t fit in. Her pearl symbolised a life that she was about to leave behind.
Dusk teetered on the edge. Her wings were half-folded. The night was warm, but she could feel the cold air from the sea and wood below. Her lair, her pearl, her one friend, all lay behind her. She could turn back and pretend this had never happened.
The sparsely-forested grassland behind her was still. It was golden, even in the dark. The trees were golden. The rocks and stones and pillars and tall grasses were golden. When the sun shone, it was blinding white-golden. The night was warm. Crickets quietly chirped, night-birds fluttered noiselessly from tree to tree. Flowers glowed like fallen stars in the grass.
The bramble-infested marsh ahead of her was still. It was purple and black. The trees were purple. The plants were purple. The water and the ground was black. The mist that wound between the trees was dark purple. The air that crept, like hungry fingers, from the heart of the wood, was cold. Nothing stirred. The waves hissed against the shore.
Dusk teetered on the edge. Her wings were half-open. Her pearl and her life lay behind her. Her future lay ahead of her. She spread her wings and leapt down, the cold air clawing hungrily at her scales as she plummeted towards the Tangled Wood.
Even in the Tangled Wood, Dusk found no peace. Where her dark colouring and heritage had caused her trouble in the Sunbeam Ruins, nobody cared for either of those things here. They cared for her eyes, for however dark they were, they were an undeniable shade of gold. Dragons hissed at her and either scurried away into the shadows, or pounced at her with snarls. She struggled to fend for herself in the unfamiliar brambles, and became scrawny and ragged. She felt a sense of loss for what she had had, even though it had been far from perfect. In this strange and new environment, she was entirely helpless.
One day, an angry Wildclaw attacked Dusk. She was weak and already injured, and stood no chance against her enemy. The Wildclaw killed her. There, her story might have ended - alone in a realm not her own, surrounded by shifting mist and darkness.
But as it happened, a mischievous Shadow Sprite passed by where Dusk had fallen on that very night. Perhaps feeling pity, perhaps seeing it as a way to grow the Shadow’s ranks, or perhaps seeing it as a chance to take something from the much-loathed Lightweaver, the Sprite used its magic to change the Pearlcatcher’s form into that of a small dragon with insectoid wings and long mane draped over its body. From the Shadow magic, the dragon’s eyes also changed from dark golden to pale purple. The Sprite simply vanished, with pleased giggles, into the misty dark.
The Veilspun woke up with only shrouded memories of her past. Perhaps they were the memories the Sprite wished her to keep, for they were mostly memories of her mistreatment at the hands of the Light dragons, and never memories of her struggles in the Tangled Wood. In her heart there was burning hatred for the Lightweaver and all those who looked up to her. Radiant was long forgotten.
Lantana spread her wings, which were dark and wet with shadows. She took off between the trees, vanishing rapidly into the darkness, just as the Sprite had done mere minutes earlier.

You want to know why I wrote a 1,524 word story when I only needed to write 150 words? Don't ask me, since I don't know either! :) Anyway here's the backstory for one of my progens, Lantana (formerly called Dusk/Dusk Swallow). I'm pretty proud of how this came out! The first three sections especially. The last two sections are more summary-style and I just ended up adding them to sort of... wrap up her backstory, I guess. This ended up being pretty dark for my first day lol, but, you know, tragic backstories are always great <33 Still have a lot more writing to do for Lantana here, but this was a great start to my biolocke!!
This was technically the Pinkerton pull from yesterday, the 9th (although it was already the 10th in my irl timezone), but I only finished this now. Let's hope I either get an easier item from Pinkerton or don't have the urge to write a whole book if I do get lore!! :')
By the way, comments and constructive criticism are welcome! <3

tell me if there's any others cws you think I should add!
