Hello! You've been pinged because you expressed interest in the Ancient Breed spinoff of my Basic to Gem Challenge!
This version of the challenge is going to have a few quality of life tweaks. First of all, I'm no longer going to be tracking the profit. I lost track on the original several months ago, and that money is just getting funneled immediately into whatever I need it for. Plus, I'm sure we're all just here for the dragons! I'm also opening the option to hang onto particularly notable dragons, although most of them still will be sold for gems. I probably won't talk about every single hatchling individually, and I'm going to try my best to avoid the Very Specific Color Combo Corner I backed myself into with the other challenge, whoops! Also, I probably won't be posting nest pictures.
This isn't quality of life, but I thought it'd be fun to keep the founders and gene them up over time to compare them to the final dragon. Probably with treasure and Baldwin genes to be honest, but that's okay because I like treasure and Baldwin genes!
Also, there's three lines now, one for each ancient breed! Each line is going to have a naming theme rather than each generation. Makes it easier for me heh.
Without further ado, let's meet the founders!
Gemstone Gaolers
I love gaolers. Somehow, they've managed to make it to the top of my favorite dragon breed list alongside obelisks, bogsneaks, and pearlcatchers. As such, I decided to give these guys gemestone themed names. Gems and minerals are also some of my favorite things, so it seems fitting to me!
The founder of the Gemstone Gaoler lineage is Morganite! I picked him for his fun colors, but after looking into it I think he's from when gaolers first came out! His parents are a tundra and a coatl and he has a birth date from about when gaolers were released. That makes him extra special! He's also got a few kids and grandkids, including a fully gened grandkid who's still active in someone's lair. Neat!

Here is their breeding card! They really have a fun range, don't they?
Chicken Banescales
So remember when Banescales first came out, and everyone started comparing them to chickens? Yeah, I still think it's funny. The banescale lineage is going to have chicken breed names!
The founder is Orpington, who is an OG g1 banescale. I just think that's neat! Unlike Morganite, he has no children. That's about to change though :P

Here's their breeding card! I'm particularly excited for this pair, I think all their babies are going to be exceptionally pretty just based on ranges alone.
Butterfly Veilspun
Truth be told, I'm not huge on veilspun. Don't get me wrong, I think they're really pretty! I just have trouble clicking with them; I think I have... one veilspun perma? As such, I was having a bit of a difficult time coming up with a theme. However, my buddy eanthurium who adores veilspun suggested butterflies as a theme. This makes total sense (veilspun are small and pretty, like bugs), plus I just think butterflies are so cool.
Unlike the other founders, Dido isn't particularly special. She's not old, she wasn't an original release dragon or a g1. She's just very pretty and one of the founders of this challenge, so I think that makes her special enough.

Here is their breeding card! They also have kind of an interesting range, so I'm excited to see how this turns out.
With introductions out of the way, I'd like to inform you that all three pairs have nested as of yesterday. If my calculations are correct, the hatchlings will be here on
January 10th. See you then!
Also, if the fourth ancient comes out during this challenge I absolutely will add them to this challenge.
oh this exists. wild
