Headed into the coli with my three starters. Since Flutterbye is just a hatchling and unable to fight, there was no need for me to randomly pick dragons for the team. Sadly, my hubris led to the untimely death of one of the dragons, only twelve fights into the run.

Too Soon to Say Goodbye
Ram and Dia were quiet when they returned to the makeshift home camp. Everything seemed too quiet with Kayden’s usual humming. Too quiet.
Flutterbye emerged from the cave they used as their sleeping shelter and looked around expectantly. Ram, not knowing what to say to the hatchling, merely shook his head and went to mope next to the fire. Kayden hadn’t been in their group long but her absence would be profound.
It fell on Dia to say something. She scooped the small Nocturne into her arms and was silent for a moment. Then she began to quietly sing a lullaby that her mother had once sang to her, a long time ago when she was a hatchling too. Silent tears fell from her eyes and when she was done singing she held Flutterbye close, “Kayden won’t be coming back, baby. I’m sorry. She— She got badly hurt but she loves you. She’ll always love you and we love you too.”
If Flutterbye understood or not, Dia couldn’t really tell but she wiped away any lingering tears from them both and then busied herself with preparing dinner for the three of them.
Marsh rabbits produce an oil to act as a water repellent. While it does not taste very good, it is not an effective dragon-repellent.

Another day in the Coli. Ram and Dia held their own since Flutterbye is still too baby to fight. Both levelled up to level 5. Since they've hit the threshold for some apparel, I've added a couple of pieces to both of them.
Ram gained: [item=blood red wolf cape] and [item=echo eater flightshroud]
Dia gained: [item=helpful healer's vestments] and [item=helpful healer's trail]
They both look rather dashing if I do say so myself!

Fae dragon colonies live in constant fear of Goliath Beetles, who primarily consume the tree sap used in the creation of their nests.

Ram gained:
Blood Red Wolf Cape
Apparel
A thick, warm wolf pelt red as blood, fashioned into a cape.
2000
and
Echo Eater Flightshroud
Apparel
A musty pile of drapes hung haphazardly about the wearer's wings, like curtains in a haunted lair.
500
Dia gained:
Helpful Healer's Vestments
Apparel
A brilliantly patterned robe, with colors signifying the healing speciality of the wearer.
1400
and
Helpful Healer's Trail
Apparel
A patterned tail protector for keeping off the dirt and grime.

Things were definitely different now. Even if Ram and Dia wouldn't talk about it, there was an obvious Kayden-shaped hole in their lives. They busied themselves with caring for Flutterbye and the Nocturne became a much loved and welcomed distraction for them both.
Ram would teach her how to hunt for small bugs and game, taking pride whenever they would return to camp with something for dinner each day. Dia, on the other hand, took to teaching Flutterbye how to speak Draconic and the basics of taking care of herself.
It was hard to notice the changes daily but soon enough they realised that Flutterbye was growing up. They noticed how fierce her personality was, how quick she adapted and learnt new things. "She's amazing." Ram whispered to Dia over the campfire one night, "Haunted all four of those rabbits herself. I barely need to guide her."
Dia looked over the fire, towards the cave and Flutter's sleeping form, "Aye... Won't be long now when she'll no longer be a hatchling... She'll be grown up...." Dia hesitated and then glanced at Ram, "You know, if she wanted to leave..."
Ram nodded slowly, staring into the fire, "I know. We can't force her to stay. We could take her back to Sungarde?" He offered, raising a brow at the flames. It was easier talking to them about this rather than Dia.
"True." Came the Ridgeback's eventual reply. A soft sigh followed as she shifted into a more comfortable position, "Let's worry about that when it happens, if it happens."
"If." Ram repeated with a smile. If was good.

Looks like Ram & Dia are heading into the Coli for ten consecutive rounds.
[br][br]Ambushed!
Flutterbye's frantic chirping was what woke them from their slumber. Ram opened his eyes slowly and realised they had fallen asleep at the campfire. Thinking this was what had Flutter worked up, he waved a claw and yawned. He looked over to the Nocturne and then froze - Beastclans.
Dia was quicker to wake up. Something something, Maternal instinct? She woke with a start and hurried over to Flutterbye, knocking several Beastclans out of her way, growling with a mixture of anger and annoyance at them. Though really she was more annoyed with herself for leaving Flutterbye so vulnerable like this - what would Kayden have thought?
Ram leapt into action. He knocked into several of the Beasts and sent them flying, turning on the next that tried to attack him. He swiped with his claws and snapped with his jaws, determined to protect Flutterbye.
After making sure the Nocturne was safe and sound, Dia joined Ram. Together they blocked the entrance to their cave and defended themselves from the Beasts. It wasn't long before they realised that these dragons weren't the easy targets they had assumed and they left, tails between their legs. Ram took a few steps forward, "Run! And don't you ever come back!" He shouted, trying to look as intimidating at possible.
Hopefully the new Wolf cape he had found a few days ago was doing the trick.

After a moment's silence, Dia and Ram both turned to Flutterbye. She seemed a little shaken up but mostly glad that everyone was safe and sound. They rushed over and embraced the Nocturne in a quick group hug. "I'm so sorry Flutter." Dia whispered, stroking the younger's head, "It won't happen again, I promise."
Ram nodded, "We promise."

Apatite occasionally carries extremely rare metals. Extracting them from this mineral can be exhausting, and inhaling the residual dust from this process is known to cause insatiable hunger pangs.

Here Comes The Boy
Since maturing, Flutterbye could be trusted to gather on her own. She hunted for most of the morning and was very satisfied with her haul, keen to head back to the camp and show Ram and Dia her hard work. Flutterbye gathered everything up into a sack, just the way Ram showed her and slung it over her shoulder. She took off and flew for home.
But she didn't get very far before suspecting something was wrong. The sack she was carrying seemed to be a bit lighter than before...? How was this possible?! Flutterbye quickly stopped and checked the bag, horrified to see a small slit cut into the bottom. It had definitely been made by a dragon claw but beyond that, she had no idea.
Looking around, she noticed a few items she had definitely gathered leaving a trail from where she had first taken off. Following that trail was a young looking dragon who would stop every so often to snap up whatever had dropped from the bag. "...!" Flutterbye chirped with annoyance and flew over, resisting the urge to hit the other dragon with her almost empty sack.
What stopped her was realising how young the other looked. Once upon a time, she had been a hatchling too and Kayden had taken care of her... Flutterbye frowned, hmm'd and haa'd before sighing. She gestured for the young dragon to follow her. For a hatchling it was rather big and it didn't look like either Ram or Dia. So it had to be some kind of dragon she had never met before. He didn't seem to have an issue with following Flutterbye, however. "Where are we going? Are we there yet?" He would ask every few minutes and honestly, it got tiring.
When they made it back, Flutterbye rolled her eyes and went to show Ram both of her problems - the torn sack and the hatchling.
"Woooah, this place is pretty sweet... You guys have a cosy cave to sleep in... Beats getting your feathers wet huh?" He laughed, bouncing around the camp and checking everything out. He didn't seem fazed by Ram or Dia at all. Flutterbye did her best to explain the situation to Ram but her annoyed body language meant he understood her perfectly. She grabbed a new (not ripped) sack and flew back out to do some more gathering. Going past the hatchling she shot him a glare. "Geez, what's her problem? Wake up on the wrong side of the dirt?" He laughed, adopting a rather cocky expression.
Ram turned to him, "Listen, you need to understand how things work around here if we let you stay." And he hurried to continued before Dia had a chance to open her mouth and argue that they couldn't leave a hatchling out to defend for themselves, "Everyone has a part to play, we all pitch in to make sure things run smoothly. We might be a small clan but we're family and we look out for each other, got it? And stop acting like you own the place, you were literally born yesterday." Ram finished with a snap which made the Hatchling fall back on his butt in surprise.
"Do you have a name dear?" Dia asked, now approaching the Skydancer and letting Ram stalk off to do whatever it was he went to do. "Erm, no..." The hatchling admitted, "I just... I hatched out of my egg and I was alone. So I've been trying to find food ever since that's when I came across the smaller one. I didn't meant to steal your food but I'm hungry." He finished with a small voice and a bowed head.
Dia chuckled and guided him towards the warm and inviting fire, "That's alright, we'll get you fed. Now, how do you feel about the name Sage?" She asks, sitting next to the hatchling with a friendly smile. "Sage... Yeah, Sage is cool." He replies, perking up after his run in with Ram.
