Thai Tue’s parents were wary at first when the town’s military governor came seeking her advice. Still, the rewards were substantial for a middle-class family, and Thai Tue made her prediction. Ironically, what soon bestowed her family was not the result of an inaccurate reading. She correctly guessed the downfall of the local government. But the governor did not know at that time. Enraged, his soldiers raided her family, stripping away most of their already dwindling fortune. It was simply a natural occurrence for Thai Tue to turn to the Northwestern Archives, first to publicly distance herself from her own foster family and reduce the sentence placed on them, then to rely on dragon magic and expand her control over the stars. Interestingly, Dia Thap Nuong was keen to recruit the young dragon, until she realized Thai Tue’s divination skills were purely academic. It seemed that whatever the Mistress was looking for in a dragon to help her decipher the Gate, she didn’t find it in the new astronomer. Thai Tue is currently the proud head of the Ninefold Tower, although she might be reconsidering this position. Even with the Restful River destroyed, the Archives itself is not viewed favourably in the eyes of the Imperial Academy.[/quote]
