Hello everyone! Unfortunately I forgot to make the post when Dawn and Dusk went on the nest, and it's been a day or two since their hatchlings arrived; I was taken out by illness for a bit and it kind of threw off my groove lol. But the hatchlings are here now!
Unfortunately no upgrades this round. Both gals got the same genes as their mother. But the first hatchling, Aspen, got Faceted eyes!

I was all set to name Aspen the heir, given that she had the special eyes to distinguish her over her sister, but you know what? We're hitting the point in this breeding challenge where it's only going to become more difficult to pick up rarer genes, so to improve our chances I've decided to start the first branching lines.
Aspen will be considered the true heir, but Juniper's line will carry on as well as the Decoy Line. Let's see who's offspring will reach the finish line first!

And as I said, they were already ready to breed, so I popped them on the nest today. I guess the True Line was feeling sorry for me, because after two weggs in a row, they gave me a five egg nest! Crossing my fingers for a tert upgrade at the very least!
And now for the Decoy Line! Once again, trying to prove that I should have made them the True Line from the start, they surprised me with a breed upgrade! Introducing the Decoy Heir, Gloria! Isn't she pretty?

Well! I think it goes without saying that the previous generation has definitely been hatched already (oh god it's been over 4 months yikes) and is also already to breed, so I guess we get to combine a hatching and nesting post all into one today. Yay?

(She was actually the second mate I bought for Morab - the first time round I forgot that his tert hadn't been upgraded alongside his breed, so I bought an all gem gene gal, whoops. Oh well, she's very pretty so I don't mind keeping her for a while, and she might come in handy later anyways.)

And given that Coral turned out so nicely, I spent a little bit more to give her a mate with a hopefully complimentary colour scheme. I'm actually hoping to start narrowing down the colour range on these lines as we get closer to the end. I saw it worked out so nicely for @PlanetariumPixel 's challenge, so I'm hoping to end up with a nice looking hatchling at the end too. So with that in mind, meet Caspian!
