Older than the clan, itself. Those who still survived the Illness looked up to him... but only in observance of his age. They knew damn well who their leaders were. The Matriarchy kept them remembering. Valkind is soft, but sharp. He is kind, but mean-mouthed. He is slow, but can snap To. He would kill a hatchling and blame it on '''Exaltation''' before admitting, but he also knows the softness of kindness and compasison. This piece of [spoiler]5h17[/spoiler] dragon is especially slimy to new folk who pass through. Beware Valkind unless you belong to the Clan of the Jackal. He will not tolerate anyone other than the shadow clan who bore him. Valkin was once long forgotten, sickly, aged. An illness still covers him as he passes through the shadow clan. So long as a hatchling does not get close, they are typically okay. But he has spread his disease to others. Easily, he has submitted others to his muscle deteriorating disease, the atrophy clinging to all that he touches, talks to, and looks at. It is entirely his Plagueling heritage... but he is still sought after by the Matriarchy on certain subjects, so he has yuet to be ejected from the clan. 41 clanners have died since his arrival, not all of them from his sickness. But he was really quite sweet and giving. He was always giving gifts; it just seemed like the best thing for everyone. He would feel good, and others would feel appreciated. It got so bad that at one point, Vini had no belongings. It was wintry and snow had come in from the west. Icicles hung from Vini's chin and tail, and while he wasn't dying from the cold, due to his nature, he was shivering a lot. It was no fun. They called it a crime. His gift-giving was so huge and without forethought to his own betterment that they thought it wholly criminal. They gave him a cloak and a crown, and told him he won at crime. And while Vini now withholds gifts when he has nothing else left to give, he still can find ways to bring someone a smile. Heal up that scraped wing? Bake you something extra special? Bring you a rock that he convinces you has gold inside and you just have to work hard to see it? Yeah. That's a crime. [size=2](197 words)[/size]

By all means, he is the wimpiest, most terrified warrior in the field. What was he scared of? Well, first of all... [list][*]The sight of blood? Absolutely cannot do it. Mont, a man of strength and courage? Not at all. Don't get me wrong--Mont doesn't have that natural bodily response that a dragon can't control when the sight of blood occurs and the blood pressure inside drops. Oh, no no no. Mont runs screaming, feeling grossed out as if his own [i]air[/i] has been violated. [*]Do not ask him about lifting a sword, a shield, or anything at all. Frankly, he cannot do it. He can't lift anything but training weapons or claw weapons. Which, granted, he did quite well with. But anything else? Forget it. [*]There is nothing more disappointing and downright [i]shameful[/i] than running away in a battle. But Mont has done it almost every time. The fear washes over him, his body gets loose, and he can no longer think. He must run at this point.[/list] Yet despite all this, Mont is the highest level a dragon can go as verified per the Sornieth Coliseum Register. How did this happen? His trainer has no idea, and believed him to be hopeless. Yet somehow he broke through. Mont will not divulge the truth. [size=2](220 words)[/size]
