Day 68
Veils are up for bonus today so we've reached the end!
Eris' army has fallen due to the heirs being veils.
Tantris walked through the ruins of the city, his stained claws clicked on the polished tiles, smearing crimson with each step. The realm had fallen and he could now take his rightful place on the throne. He stared at the barren seat, faint amusement befalling him upon seeing it abandoned.
Queen Eris had fled it seemed.
The guardian turned to his faithful commander. "Rabbit,
find her."
The order would be carried out immediately. The tundra rounding up the survivors of their own army to search the city. Fearful citizens would steer clear as they passed by.
Tantris made his way over to the balcony to watch and look down upon his Realm. How many times had he stood here with his father as a hatchling? How many times would he now?
"I hope he's proud of what he did. All this bloodshed is because of him."
A growl rose in his throat. This wasn't anywhere close to being over. Not until Eris was found and he could eliminate her himself. Maybe he'd use her scales as decoration or put all those eyes of hers in a jar to preserve the memory. He'd have to see when the moment arose.
Smoke rose from his nose as he huffed. One thing was clear, once the Realm knew of this, that he'd finally regained his birthright, there would be some changes around here.
Murmur limped through the sewers, Queen Eris was coiled along his back. It was hard to maneuver like this but he made it work- she was smaller than him but her noodle like body and excessive jewelry was uncomfortable. But it was either this or death.
Several times he was sure they'd found them. Shadows would pass over grates or there would be the strange sounds of things moving in nearby tunnels. The wildclaw would fight to the death if needed but each time it was a false alarm. He never slowed his pace, even when he was sure they were far from danger.
Claws glided over the scales on his cheek. "You really are my best commander." Eris cooed. "Loyal, even when we've lost... You'll make a great start to building a new realm. Would you like that promotion? A
King- my king."
He didn't respond, focused on the task at hand. There wasn't going to
be another realm if they didn't get somewhere safe. He admitted, he enjoyed the idea of being a king and pondered the offer until the sewers ended and they found themselves in a forest of sparkling trees. They made it deep within the Starwood Strand. Hopefully here they'd be safe at least for a while.
"King Murmur doesn't exactly have a nice ring to it." He commented, crouching down so Eris could get off.
The spiral blinked her eyes at him as she began walking around the clearing. "Perhaps not, but names can change just like positions."
She plucked one of the flowers and inspected it. "Besides, we have work to do before we consider that union. A new realm to build... here. Within the forest will do nicely. We'll live a lavish life."
"I do think it's best we lay low." He admitted between the two he'd want the option she was suggesting, but given the situation...
"Not once we're back on our feet. I've climbed to the top once and I
will do it again."
