(Setting up the post, will ping when I complete things, this is Amazing, thank you so much for running this (and making us run around!)) (Completed tasks bolded with date of completion for easier navigation) START YOUR JOURNEY! #1 - Introduce yourself! - 5 points 16th may (no photo needed) Tell us about yourself! How long have you been here? What flight are you in? What do you like most about the site? Anything you like! Hi! I'm Bee, I first signed up on the 18th of May 2015 (nearly the anniversary!), though I've gone on some hiatuses over the years, but have stayed true to the Ice flight (mostly for the eyes as I guess I'm closer to other lores in some ways, and do tend gather nature and water (and sometimes light) themed dragons a lot). I'm FR+9 so I do tend to answer at questionable times. Times being occasionally questionable because I am a night owl and really ought to be in bed... What I love about FR is the multiple sides to it, the variety in gameplay and how I've seen it evolve over the years (and how it's possible to catch up even when you take breaks!) It's a comfort place! #2 - Create your nametag - 5 points 18th May If you're going on an adventure, it helps to have some ID... just in case. Share a recipe for something that can be prepared in the great outdoors. This question reminded me of a field trip we did with my junior high school science club. (We didn't go very far, there were few of us, but it warranted a lunch break for some reason?) My recollections are vague, but it went something like half a baguette (if you hadn't guessed where I'm from yet...) a can of something fish-y (terribly difficult to open so it wouldn't open by mistake, but also difficult to open on purpose especially if you're in your early teens and have the strength of a dead fish), a thin plastic butter knife (not kidding...) to put the aforementioned fishy substance onto the bread. (It was easier to break the knife than the bread...) I'm pretty sure there were other things as we didn't starve, but basically this is something I'd advise *against* (or in favor of preparing in advance!) I do remember a kindergarten camping trip (don't ask, I know I didn't) that featured bananas and dark chocolate, somehow handed back to our tiny little hands warm (the former coated in the latter) wrapped in tinfoil, which sounds ideal and delicious but I never encountered the technique again. Since I'm not sure that counts, let me share my own personal favourite sandwich that will make everyone question my food choices: mustard and raspberry jam (in toast). French mustard, of course, not too harsh, it's worth a try! Doesn't keep *that* long but it beats having to trek with a jar of mustard that's likely to break (or worse, once of those little tubs of the thing that'd just implode). DOCUMENTATION You did bring a journal, didn't you? Keep track of your findings for posterity. #49 - Cartography - 40 points 28 May Be a cartographer and test your map-making skills. Create a map of your lair or the territory you explored (real or imagined). Featuring from left to right: The source of all power, the pond, the yarn hoard, the notes, the resting place, the great wall, the trees and blooms, the grass, and the hives. Which is basically everything I can (and some things I obviously can't) draw... It was fun though!!! #50 - Epic tale - 40 points 29 may (no photo needed) Like a true historian, write a story about your adventure (real or imagined). [columns] [emoji=ice rune size=1] [nextcol]"Sencha's Scavenger Hunt Journey" The title sprawled across the page... a fourth of a vaguely rectangular square of parchment folded twice on itself. Inside was a poorly drawn and rather inaccurate map, but given that finding things (be it first, or again) was not her prerogative Sencha hadn't really judged necessary to try and map out the detail in her scrawlings. The paw to brush ratio was also a bit uncomfortable, and large stains of something that was either dark murkish ink or just plain mud were covering most of the journey. Well, 'journey'. "Home is where the heart is. And the music. And the bees. I think that's the idea. The most important thing to retain from this epic trip is that bees can be allergic to pollen, and in an unmasked effort to limit her perigrinations to the garden she also created an, unmapped, hoard of, carefully disposed of, tissues. There were bee sightings, and birds were heard but rarely seen, trees were seen but rarely heard, questionable containers of rainwater housed lifeforms I'd rather not investigate further, and in order to know whether the grass is, indeed, greener on the other side of the fence, you'd need to see through the fence. Or indeed even see the fence. It's somewhat reassuring to know that the immediate outside is about as much of a mess as our lair though, and I have yet to donate my winter fur coat to the yarn hoarding efforts. Not that there's much of a need for more, then again I'm not the one who gets cold in the winter. Nor am I the one who chose to settle in the Ice territories. That's just where home is. And Earlgrey's Special Brew, which I cannot recommend enough, but will opt not to sample for myself. 6 years is long enough to know when someone is playing a trick on you, and his original fae nature is peaking out ever since we gifted him that tea tray. I'm not sure whose idea that was. Oh, wait... There's a significant lapse in judgement in not including the tea hoard, but maybe that's best kept secret. It doesn't buzz, but it does go well with honey. We're safely inside again now, I hope the sneezing will stop soon, but I suspect I might be part of the problem rather than the solution..."[/columns]

(no photo needed) Make sure you supply yourself with some good nutrients.
(It was easier to break the knife than the bread...) I'm pretty sure there were other things as we didn't starve, but basically this is something I'd advise *against* (or in favor of preparing in advance!)

I do remember a kindergarten camping trip (don't ask, I know I didn't) that featured bananas and dark chocolate, somehow handed back to our tiny little hands warm (the former coated in the latter) wrapped in tinfoil, which sounds ideal and delicious but I never encountered the technique again.

Be a cartographer and test your map-making skills.

#50 - Epic tale - 40 points 29 may
(no photo needed) Like a true historian, write a story about your adventure (real or imagined).
13253095.png
13253094.png
"Sencha's Scavenger Hunt Journey" The title sprawled across the page... a fourth of a vaguely rectangular square of parchment folded twice on itself.

We're safely inside again now, I hope the sneezing will stop soon, but I suspect I might be part of the problem rather than the solution..."

Just for the record, my name is Verdra, daughter of Tobei the Combat Master. My father, who knew the great founders of the tower – the progenitors Gaia and Shu – says that he knows this land like he knows his own whiskers. However, since Gaia’s mastery over the land was unstable and used to shift often back then, all the maps we have are inaccurate. Today, I traveled to the peaceful forests behind the Tower. Unsurprisingly there are a lot of trees, but I managed to note where the most prominent trees are. There are actually three huge trees, and one is in the shape of a bird’s head if you look at it from the Tower. Day 2 I had no idea about this secret lake and cave by the forest, but apparently this is where Eclipse goes when she “disappears.” I’ll mark the lake on the map, but her cave… I’ll keep it a secret. I saw quite a few ladybugs hanging out here too. Maybe this would be a nice place to build a cabin? Day 3 It is super windy today! The birds that usually fly around the Tower aren’t here. However, tons of flower petals showered my campsite. It really was beautiful, but now I’ve got allergies. I mapped out the gardens today, where Honor tends to his herbs. Gaia has managed to keep this little island afloat, which he says he is thankful for; most of the main island is too rocky to create garden plots effectively. Day 4 Finally, I made it to the plains in front of the Tower this morning. This is where the hatchlings learn to fly! Because of the heavy winds recently, their parents must have kept them indoors. I glimpsed Diem resting on a nearby cliff in the morning sun. Perhaps tomorrow I will explore the hilly ridges. Day 5 I made it to the cliffs today! There is a river that flows off of the island. I wonder where its source is. I spent a good while relaxing here! For now, I should start to head back. Everyone is probably wondering where I am!

Statues of the Cockatrice The tale of how we got the picture of that statue of the little mammal and the chick is a harrowing one. Amantia was the first to spot them. In a stony clearing there was a group of some sort of creatures standing around. She streaked down to get a closer look. The figures were much smaller than most dragons, and there were some tiny ones a fraction the size of a fey! Slithering with interest all around, she couldn't make heads nor tails of it. Who would leave such intricate masterpieces just standing in the middle of wilderness? The other's first inkling was the shriek. Caldwell and Nacre's heads shot up from the ants they had been trying to get a good shot of. The coatl tilted his head one way and then the other, "You should check that out probably. I'll stay here and try to have these darned insects appear." The behemoth nodded and took to the air. With powerful strokes she flew like the wind to her distressed comrade. The spiral was laying with her eyes screwd shut. Nacre nudged the much smaller dragon with her snout, "Amantia? Whats wrong?" "Nacre..?" Slowly she opened one eye, "Is it gone?" "Is what gone, honey?" "The... th-" A loud cry cut her off. It sounded almost like a rooster, but with a fearsome quality that belonged to no fowl. Amantia squealed and dove behind the imperial, "Don't look at its face! You'll end up like the other statues!" Nacre rolled her eyes, "Come on its just a little beast...clan," her words dropped off as her eyes ran up the creatures body. Even she was a little intimidated by this whopper! Immediately her gaze dropped and her lips curled back with a snarl. Some chicken wasn't going to get her, let alone Amantia. She lashed out with claws and teeth, blindly snapping and swatting. When a blow connected she went for it again, but her efforts met only air. That thing was fast! "Time for a tactful retreat honey," she hissed. "Hold on!" The second she felt tiny claws latch on, she leapt into the air. Looking to the sky, she fled with her trembling passenger. "Those things can't fly, can they?" Laughter rumbled in her throat. They met Caldwell in the air. By now Amantia was able to fly on her own. She looped around the pair of larger dragons as they spoke. "Can you tell us what happened?" Caldwell pressed. She gave him a side eye, "Well I saw something in this clearing- they were statues. Some strange creatures who walked upright but looked like no beastclan I know. And then there were normal looking chickens. They seemed to he collecting eggs- the strange ones, not the birds. I started taking pictures for our scavenger hunt. The upright ones looked like mammals, and of course there were birds... Then something pecked at me from behind. I'm lucky I wasn't at eye level when I turned around.." She whimpered, "Then there was this enormous cockatrice! At least as big as you, Caldwell." He frowned. The imperial took uo the story from there, filling in what happened after she found Amantia cowering with eyed closed. "She wasn't exaggerating the size at all!" "Sure, sure," he mumbled. He remembered flying over stony clearings. Maybe he should check it out... "Don't you get thoughtful!" Amantia snapped. "We know what you're thinking, honey, and I don't want to rescue you too. Or bring back your statue for Boi," Nacre grumbled with a warning tone. "Ugh, where's your sense of adventure? Fine." "We've had enough of that sort of adventure," the two dragonesses said over one another. Then Amantia added, "Some things are better left unexplored." "Easy for you to say! You already went and had fun," he pouted. "I promise I'll leave the next fatal terror to you." "Good."
