Nodding with satisfaction, they tucked the application between their claws and headed away.

It may be foolish to be so optimistic, but being on guard with everything is tiring after a while. He deserved a moment of inclusiveness, if only to get him out into the world.

It's just, she was thinking about those flowers she'd seen earlierx and how pretty they were, and how nice they would look in her hair, and then suddenly– [i]Bang![/i] "Owww," she groaned, rubbing her head. A paper drifted down onto her snout, knocked down by her distracted run in. Her eyes caught the words "contest" and "glory" before she sat up. Still rubbing her head with one claw, she examined the paper. "What's this?" she gasped. "A contest?" The details slid away. "Ooh! Sounds like fun!"

He liked a good life. Sometimes, though, he longed for something more. More interesting, more memorable, something worth doing. This contest? The paper he held in his claws said it all. It had it all. This was what he wanted.

As sudden as a bolt of lightning, as fascinating as the arcing trails of light they leave in the sky. Her actions seemed to be made on a whim. It wasn't clear to others why he did what he did, or why she was the way she was. Others rarely stuck around. Perhaps this was a motivator in their application. To be around others for a time, to work together... perhaps he hoped for companionship. Or maybe there was a level of seeking the glory. Either way, they went.
