The Crystalline Gala celebrations are underway, and dragons all over Sornieth have gathered for the festivities! Despite the wind that rages and howls, blasting anyone brave enough to forge it with arctic gales. Even the young hatchlings have long since given up trying to keep their snowball fights going.
But that's no bother at all. Residents of The Southern Icefields have set up activities indoors, putting a warm barrier between their guests and the snow storm. Dragons provide complimentary blankets and shawls, while advertising free refills on certain snacks and drinks. The atmosphere glows a soft orange from all the candles set about, and pretty paper flag banners boast cute little images and signs of the activities they have to offer.
While trying to decide what to do first, a blanket unexpectedly drops down over your shoulders. You look up to see two tiny guardians flitting above your head, their coloration almost identical with their matching appearance.
"You look cold, friend!" One of them squeaks, pointing back over your shoulder. "Join us at the coloring contest! We've got hot cocoa and tons of heated blankets to lay on while you color!"
Well, that does sound inviting, doesn't it?

[*]This event runs from January 17th until January 30th. We will accept entries until Jan 30th at 22:00 FR time.
[*]You can color and submit one entry for each line art, for a total of six. You may color any of the images as many times as you like, but only one of each will earn tickets towards the INF/OOF raffle and count as submissions for the coloring contest.
[*]For the first of each line art that you color, you earn 100 OOF raffle tickets or 10 INF raffle tickets. Coloring all six images will earn you a total of 600 OOF tickets or 60 INF tickets.
[*]You can color using any medium!
[*]You may recolor the lines, just make sure they are distinguishable from the colored image and do not alter them. Feel free to add-in extras, such as apparel or backgrounds. The dragons may look basic, but you can color in any genes that you like. (Even terts like crackle and gembond.)
[*]Please follow all site guidelines when coloring the images. Basic common courtesy: do not steal or claim to have drawn the original lines. Do not copy the line art and redistribute it as your own. For the ID number, you may move it or re-write it, but do not erase it from the image.
[*]Submit your entries to the contest and raffle ticket earning by posting in this thread and pinging me: LaWombat. While you can color all the images as many times as you like, you can only submit one of each line art toward the contest and ticket earnings(for a total of six entries). Feel free to post any extras that you color to show them off! Just make sure that your actual submissions are specifically noted(and ping me), and in a separate post from your "for fun" images.
[*]All submitted entries will have a chance of winning prizes. The top three places will be chosen based on(but not limited to) skill, concept, and creativity. For the remaining submissions, judges will choose a winner that falls under each of the set themes explained in another post located below.
[*]Themes are not required to be followed for any of your entries. You can enter any, all, or none of the themed categories, simply follow the coloring prompts. When you submit your themed entries, please let me know which entries are being entered into which themed category.
If there are no entrants for a specific theme, then that prize will simply move to the pool of rewards for the runner-up category. Runner-ups are chosen by a randomizer from all entrants that did not place in the top three or any of the themed categories.
[*]Although you are allowed six entries, you can only win once. The top three are picked first, then themed winners, then all remaining participants are entered into a drawing for the randomized prizes.
[*]Winners will choose their prizes at the end of the event once it has been announced. Depending on how soon the judges can pick winners, please allow for one week after the end of the contest for the announcement. Similar to the Flight Raffles, winners will choose their prizes in order of their preference, and list the number of prize packs according to the position that they have placed on the list.
So, for example, if you place second, your prize pick list will look like this:
1. Expensive Ice Cubes
2. Frosty Spools
That way, if the first place winner has or will pick the Expensive Ice Cubes, you'll get the Frosty Spools prize instead.

Q and A
Q: The OOF/INF raffle ends on the 23rd, but the contest runs until the 30th? How does that work?
A: The OOF/INF raffle only stops accepting fodder dragons in exchange for tickets on the 23rd. After that, the Crystalline Gala officially begins! You will still earn tickets for participating in events because drawings for raffle prizes do not start until February 5th so that events running during the week of the Gala can still hand out tickets for participation or prizes.
Q: Can I display my colored image on my dragon's bio?
A: Certainly! Just be sure to give proper credit to the original artist of the lineart.
Q: How do we submit an entry?
A: You submit an entry by uploading it somewhere online. You can use any image host, or we have links to some free ones in the resources post if you don't know of any. You'll then add the image to a post in this thread and ping me, making sure to state if the entry is entering into a specific theme or not.
Q: How many entries can we submit at one time?
A: As many as you like! You can submit more than one at a time in the same post, or take your time and submit entries on different days. Just make sure that if you are submitting a new entry to put it in a new post. The old post won't ping me a second time if you've already pinged me with it.
Q: If we print out an image and color it with traditional media, do we need to scan it or take a photo of it?
A: You can do either, mainly because some people do not own a scanner. Just try to make sure it's a nice photo, otherwise, we might not be able to see all the beautiful details!
Q: We cannot alter the lineart, but we can add extras to the image. What is the extent of that?
A: The judges need to be able to recognize the original image, so don't go too crazy with extra items and think of it as a coloring book. You can add stuff over the original lineart, so long as it's not changing it too much.
This event runs from January 17th until January 30th. We will accept entries until Jan 30th at 22:00 FR time.
You can color and submit one entry for each line art, for a total of six. You may color any of the images as many times as you like, but only one of each will earn tickets towards the INF/OOF raffle and count as submissions for the coloring contest.
For the first of each line art that you color, you earn 100 OOF raffle tickets or 10 INF raffle tickets. Coloring all six images will earn you a total of 600 OOF tickets or 60 INF tickets.
You can color using any medium!
You may recolor the lines, just make sure they are distinguishable from the colored image and do not alter them. Feel free to add-in extras, such as apparel or backgrounds. The dragons may look basic, but you can color in any genes that you like. (Even terts like crackle and gembond.)

If you aren't downloading the file from drop box, you can right click the file from imgur to 'save file as' rather than copying and pasting in order to be able to keep the transparency and color behind the lines.
Flat white background .jpgs are available for printing out and coloring with markers, crayons, colored pencils, paints, etc. Any medium is allowed!

When you open the transparent image up in a program that uses layers, you will only start out with the one layer with the outline on it. Since I use Paint Tool Sai, the image only appears to have a white background, but it is actually transparent.

You'll want to create a new layer and drag it beneath the outline layer. This will be the layer that you color on!

You can also create a third layer beneath your coloring layer and fill it in with white for easier coloring. Not necessary with Paint Tool Sai, but other programs like Gimp or Photoshop will actually show the transparency with a checkered background.

Have your coloring layer selected, and color away!
