Costs so Far
Estimated Costs
I collected a total of fifteen dragons for the project (most of the Founding Sixteen plus two dragons who ended up as spares for the first generation) before I started tracking cost data. Most were for fodder price or a little over, so for the math we'll say I spent an average of 10kt on each of them.
15 dragons x 10Kt = 150Kt
Scrolls of Renaming (technically optional but needed for tracking who's matched with who):
3 at approximately 6Kt = 18Kt
Total: 168Kt

Hard Data
Flight Changes: 2 at 1.5KG = 3KG (One to move to Fire, and one to move back to Light when I'm done)
Coatl Scrolls: 4 at 2KG = 8KG
Smirch Genes: (Optional but allow me to immediately see the hatchling's tert)
3 at 5Kt = 15Kt
1 at 14,500t
Renaming scrolls:
(I actually get these from the Coli for the most part now, but this is meant to be data-gathering, so we're going to include them at MP price for the sake of argument.)
6 x 6,000t = 36,000
Dragons:
ThreeF: 150G
SixM: 500G
FiveM: 35Kt
"Falkor": 8G
"Unnamed Banescale": 7kt
FiveFTwo: 7kt
FiveMTwo: 6,500t

Intangibles
And for this section, allow me to ramble for a little.
I was already an old, established lair with
180 regular Lair slots and something
a little under 218 Den slots open when I started the project. I don't think lair space will be
too much of an issue for me, though I will keep expanding my Den so I can hibernate as many of my permas and other projects as possible while I try to summon Aku, but it's a cost factor that would be prohibitive for a newer player.
I also, of course, already had many other support structures in place for the project as an old lair, in particular
several teams of Coli dragons: multiple fodder trainers and multiple teams of grinders. These allow me to feed the horde of breeders and earn items and treasure for Den slots much more easily than a newer player.
I will leave the calculation of these more intangible costs to the rest of the thread for now, especially since we don't yet know exactly how many lair spaces I'll need open at the maximum point of this project. I suspect that maximum point is going to be somewhere in the late stages of establishing the Primordial Army, when I have a lot of them around but also at least their parents and possibly their grandparents. However, there's also the raising of hatchlings to consider once I
do establish the Primordial Army.
My larger point in mentioning these costs is to provide a counter to the idea that the current eye system helps newer, less established players by throwing them a boon in the form of a special breeding-only eye occasionally. That may or may not be true for a playstyle of breeding dragons towards no particular goal or towards popular aesthetics for which founders can be readily bought at fodder prices (both great ways to play, I might add!), but for players who enjoy dedicated breeding projects for unique colours? Those are already more in the wheelhouse of veteran players, sure, but even newer players can start climbing the difficulty slope pretty early on. Something like this would be completely unattainable for a newer player, in terms of lairspace, regular currency, premium currency, knowledge of game mechanics, and simple time.
