Painted's Breed Only Quest/Experiment
Goal: To see how far I can get by using money earned only from breeding dragons together. No coliseum, no gathering (apart from if I run out of food), and no fairgrounds.
Starting Conditions:
-No dragons currently in active lair (I have a few in the HD, but I'm not allowed to let them out)
-20kt, 0g on hand, not allowed to dig into Vault funds
-2k+ food points of every type
This thread is to just keep track of how much I earn, the things I buy, and the dragons I hatch. If I buy any art/lore down the line, it'll be listed here, though if I come up with any lore myself I'll probably make a separate thread. Though I'm not making any solid plans yet because, let's be honest, I'll probably give up a week in.

[font=Times New Roman]I decided to start out with buying two fodder dragons that were RTB, so I could start earning money quickly by selling fodder dragons until I earn enough to be more picky about the pairs I create.

[font=Times New Roman]Dawnstar came already named, so I decided to match the other's name to it. They're not the prettiest pair, but they have a chance of producing some nice looking hatchlings, so I have a slight chance of being able to sell one or two of their offspring for more (though that's unlikely).

Day One

I decided to start out with buying two fodder dragons that were RTB, so I could start earning money quickly by selling fodder dragons until I earn enough to be more picky about the pairs I create.
The two dragons I bought:

Dawnflare:
Dawnstar came already named, so I decided to match the other's name to it. They're not the prettiest pair, but they have a chance of producing some nice looking hatchlings, so I have a slight chance of being able to sell one or two of their offspring for more (though that's unlikely).
As I'll put them on the nest today, the next update should be on the 17th of August.
Day Nine
Profits: +11,800t, +0g
Total currency: 18,800t, 0g
Total profit: -1,200t, +0g
Today my auction for the pretty hatchling was bought! It looks like the owner intends to keep her for a bit, which is also a nice plus. In two days' time the other two hatchlings will grow up, and I'll be able to make a nice profit by selling them as fodder.
Over the past few days I've been looking at dozens of hatcheries, and some few hundred dragons or so, and I've been beginning to sketch out an idea for my own hatchery based on the types of dragons I've consistently liked. However, that idea is still some way off, so for now I'll put all my profits into buying some more fodder pairs (preferably plentiful breeds for a shorter cooldown) to help me build some more money before I start on any grand plans.

Today I sold the second two hatchlings (now dragons) for fodder, giving me a nice profit and pushing me into the positives on total profits made. Unfortunately, all that progress had to go back down the drain as I bought four hatchlings, all to be used as fodder breeders. Two of them have a chance at making some nice hatchlings, especially with the Plague eye colour, while the other two are pretty ugly. But hey, I'm buying exclusively fodder hatchlings for this, so I can't be too picky.
I am starting to more fully sketch out my idea for a hatchery, too, though based on the pairs I want to make and the searches I did, some of them are going to be mightily hard to make. However, if I do somehow get some hatchlings who'll fit into my idea, I'll keep those and find a nice partner for them.
