Rules and Mechanics
Voices of Chaos is a hybrid story project, based on the idea of its readers controlling important decisions in the narrative via majority vote.
Decisions
Decisions that prompt voting may range from gameplay-based to solely narrative. One decision can change the dragon's genes, while another will affect their interactions with other characters, or their own attitude and personality.
Each decision will have multiple options to vote for. Sometimes the outcome of each will be spelled out, sometimes it will be more obscure - or even a full mystery! The participants can vote on which option they would prefer, and once the voting is done, the effects will come into play.
Voting
Once a decision and its options are posted, the voting process begins; it will be open for a duration depending on its importance and difficulty of supporting the outcomes, approximately ranging from a few days to a few weeks. When said time passes, the decision will be locked, and after a short while a resolution and a new decision will appear.
Decisions are resolved via majority vote by the participants - whichever option gets the most votes will be the final result. In case of a tie, the narrator will decide which option is the winner.
Anyone can participate in the voting - there's no specific signing up procedure, and no one is required to vote on every decision. Any vote done until the decision is locked counts!
Ways to vote
1) In the thread itself! When doing so, please clearly indicate what decision you're voting for, and specify the decision's number. You can use this template:
Code:
[b]Voting for option #n of decision #n.[/b]
2) Via Google form that will be provided for each decision. The link to it will be at the end of the decision post!
3) PM the narrator. Please use subject "Voices of Chaos" or "VoC", or any clearly recognizable variation.
Thread
There are no specific rules for the challenge thread itself, besides displaying politeness and common decency and following FR's policies.
You can discuss the challenge, the story or the voting; you can freely say what you vote for and why, propose new decisions or suggestions. You can RP in the thread, interacting with the protagonist dragon - but please limit it to shorter messages, for the sake of the main narrative. :D
