'Taipan sits alone, angrily burning bits of grass. Nobody treated her like a person before today. When she'd been pale and dusty in colour. But now that she's covered in bright red cobweb marks, suddenly she's worthy of respect? Kindness? She'd always imagined that if she were to ever claw her way out of being the sickly hatchling in everyone's minds (despite being as healthy as a centaur for as long as she can remember), she'd revel in the knowledge that she's loved, that she was just as good as everyone else all along. She'd never anticipated that it would lead to the realisation that their respect is conditional, the realisation that if her hidden colours had been even more monotone hues, she'd still be distrusted, hated. She could not have anticipated her rage upon finding this out. She can't go back. She won't go back. She'll tell her sister she's leaving, then she's gone.'

At least sheltered skydancer is paying well. He looks up at the sky, noting the moon's position. He'll wake Endewyn when it starts coming back down again. For now, he guesses he gets to growl at any woodland critters that stray too close to the campsite. So lame.'
