i think whichever is more profitable also depends on what age you buy/hatch--
(using @/ThistleProse's numbers)
if you buy at hatchling (w/ average price of 5000t):
50*(8250 - 5000) = 50*3250 = 162500 (lvl5)
30*(11250 - 5000) = 30*6250 = 187500 (lvl7)
buying at adult has an even larger difference;
50*(8250 - 7000) = 50*1250 = 62500 (lvl5)
30*(11250 - 7000) = 30*4250 = 127500 (lvl7)
and if you hatch them all, level 5 is definitely more profitable! it seems to trend towards level 5 the less dragons you buy/more you hatch yourself, which is kind of cool... of course, factoring in time difference one might be more worth it than the other.
