(No worries friend! Do what you can, when you can.)
"Basically yeah! Some stay behind since they don't like crowds or attention but I'd say a good 80-90% of the clan travels to every festival. We're one giant family, with some liking a particular group more than the others, as to be expected, but we all live in the same general area and share food, materials and anything else."
He smiles and lets out a faint chuckle.
"Of course there's squabbles, like the time a group hatchling thought it would be fun to dump a big bucket of water on the Ridgeback sleeping area one night, but we more or less get along with everyone."
Nines shakes his head with a silly grin as he remembers the shreik of pure terror and rage that Fraxure, Tesla, Mary, Sapphire and Anax let out at their rude awakening. Honestly, how did they think their prank would end up?
"No, I'm quite proud of my smallness! Small but mighty, as they say. It suits me just fine and makes my job as a scout easier. It also helps me make new friends since big strangers can be scary... though I suppose a dragon like you woudn't notice the difference much, eh? I imagine our Fae clanmates feel much the same. Everyone's a giant compared to them!"
He tilts his head at the mention of the tiny Bogsneak.
"Really? I heard that we had a Fae-sized Nocturne in our clan before I came. She was named Ranunculus after the buttercups that her scales reminded us of and we found her as an egg out in the Boreal Wood. She lived with us for quite a while but went to serve the Flamecaller some time before I joined. She never felt bad about her size and she was able to make the most elaborate flower crowns with her small claws and Nature magic."
He looks down at his sketch. No, it isn't of him...
"Actually, this is a crude drawing of my best friend from my birth clan. 2B. She was a huge female Imperial, to the point that she was the biggest in the clan. She was chosen as a warrior because of her size and strength, but there were murmurs of disapproval. Until her birth, warriors were always males. Because of that she always felt like she had to prove her strength and not show any emotion because emotion was weakness..."
He sighs wistfully.
"I was able to befreind her shortly before the Emperor attack. I could tell she was putting up an act and it was wearing on her. I wanted her to be able to do whatever she wanted and show how she felt without her feeling like she wasn't fit to be a warrior. She was just starting to open up to me when everything went down."
He shakes his head with a sharp exhale.
"She's definitely still out there somewhere. She's way too strong to be taken out by a bandit clan or beasts. I hope that I can find her someday and bring her to my new clan. A fresh start might be exactly what she needs after all the pressure and scrutiny she's been put under."
