He was still scowling at the imperious skydancer, however. "Oh, a vortex, well, that excuses flying into people." His tone made it clear he didn't think that it did. "And it isn't, unless you like ooze, which I don't. My clan moved in a hurry. I got separated." He wasn't going to tell her he was lost. He wasn't. That would be too undignified.

Cleaning up the dust...
re: loot post

The gnarled plants secreted a myriad of saps and fluids, some clear, invisible, others brightly coloured to warn of their toxicity. Iblis retrieved a glass beaker from her pack, provided by Rilemaine on insistence that the wastes would have ‘exotic alchemical reagents’. With significant patience, Iblis prodded the acids and poisons into the beakers, the ends of sticks smoking and burning on contact. Having filled a few beakers, the Gaoler carefully wrapped the fluids in several layers of cloth, before depositing them safely away. She would have to be careful, lest the precious material shatter and burn a hole in her supplies.

"I did not intend to fly into you," she said, her voice hard, her eyes glowing red for a second. "My portals are unpredictable." She considered him for a moment, her eyes back to ice-blue. "You were separated? How unfortunate. Of course, my portal could bring you to where they have gone, provided that you know where they are?" Not that she would do such a favor for the Coatl, who had been nothing but rude to her. She smirked, toying with a bone on the ground. Though she didn't want to, she was sensing waves of irritation and a kind of undignified embarrassment coming from him. Her empath abilities were weak at worst, mediocre at best, and it was impossible for her to filter the tide of emotions coming from the unfamiliar dragon. She couldn't help but wonder what he was feeling undignified about, though she didn't ask. Perhaps his clan threw him about, clamored the less morally right side of her mind, smirking at the idea.

The idea of a portal home seemed too good to be true. Especially from a strange dragon that seemed so cold and aloof. She might send him somewhere terrifying. But at the same time... Could he not even try? "I knew where they were, sort of, but we were moving." Izar frowned, then thought of another possibility. "Do you know of the Clan of the Dawn Breeze?" They should, at least, be stationary, and Ekaitz's mother Mitzuki would eventually visit to let that clan know where his had gone.

As Famine springs to his feet, he reflexively bares his pointed fangs, poised for defense. One must take no chances in an unknown land where only the strongest survive. A gust of wind whips past Famine, and he pauses and tilts his head in intrigue as he picks up a scent emanating from the strangely glowing dragon he can only describe as "neutral." The peculiarly bound tome holds hundreds of pages depicting strange illnesses, plagues, diseases; each with exemplary drawings of hallmark symptoms and appearances associated; hypothesized cures suggested for each entry. One page concerning a terrible plague associated with everlasting hunger is dog-eared. A list of hypothesized cures for this entry have each individually been scribbled out. Could this be a warning, or perhaps merely an explanation? A dragon of very few words, Famine does eventually utter a phrase: "Don't starve," he warns, and grants the visitor a meagre offering he would consider a necessary preventative precaution. Bone Fragments

Exhausted from fruitless exploration, Famine is resting sleeplessly within his camp when he detects a foreign intruder. As Famine springs to his feet, he reflexively bares his pointed fangs, poised for defense. One must take no chances in an unknown land where only the strongest survive.

A gust of wind whips past Famine, and he pauses and tilts his head in intrigue as he picks up a scent emanating from the strangely glowing dragon he can only describe as "neutral."

"Hello there stranger. What brings you to the Plaguelands today?"

Famine's ears perk forward with a peculiar passion. He hesitantly pushes a strange tome toward the yet unnamed dragon. The peculiarly bound tome holds hundreds of pages depicting strange illnesses, plagues, diseases; each with exemplary drawings of hallmark symptoms and appearances associated; hypothesized cures suggested for each entry. One page concerning a terrible plague associated with everlasting hunger is dog-eared. A list of hypothesized cures for this entry have each individually been scribbled out. Could this be a warning, or perhaps merely an explanation?

A dragon of very few words, Famine does eventually utter a phrase:

"Don't starve," he warns, and grants the visitor a meagre offering he would consider a necessary preventative precaution.

At least from here he could still see some of the purple spines of the Crystalspine Reaches behind him... even if he knew the clan had already left them. His hope died at her answer anyway, but anger flared to life in its place at the skydancer's last remarks. "Oh, and what would you know, anyway?" his wings spread again as he reared up. "You can't even open a portal without flying into someone! At least when my clan does portal magic, they go big. Domantas and Rahasyamay took over the whole mountain." They also weren't exactly sure that was a portal, and they certainly weren't about to touch it, but it definitely did span almost the whole of their clan's mountain territory. That had to be more impressive than one lone dragon's bone tricks.
