Currently Breeding: NATURE
What is this thread? My goal is to get new flight reps for my clan, but with one caveat: they must only utilize the one color range I work with...green! And to top it off I want to specifically breed for these dragons, so I'm looking for a mom and pop for each element so I can customize their names. No slapping genes on a perfectly colored auction house dragon for me! That means not only will I need to find and breed dragons in their appropriate elemental nests to get the correct eyes, but they also have to be the same gender as their deity and the original breed of that flight.
Explain it to me! With the color wheel expansion and genes that feature accent colors (Poison, Skink, etc) I realized I can now make elemental looking dragons using only colors from Pistachio to Moss. That's it! No other colors are allowed. The parents are an exception as greens on the far ends of the spectrum can be hard to get if you're not looking at the neighboring colors in both directions.
And how are you going to do that? The following takes priority when selecting a dragon to be part of this breeding project:
1. Male or Female (as it takes two to tango)
2. Gem Genes and Breeds (I am gem poor)
3. Dragon colors
4. Treasure Genes
5. Treasure Breeds
6. Eye Color
2. Gem Genes and Breeds (I am gem poor)
3. Dragon colors
4. Treasure Genes
5. Treasure Breeds
6. Eye Color
Example: For my Earth rep I need a male Snapper with Earth eyes. I will look for a male and female pair of dragons with colors close to what I'm looking for, with gem genes if needed, and where one is a Snapper and the other is of equal or higher breed rarity. Then I will breed them in an Earth nest and, if I don't get my goal hatchling, I'll breed those dragons again, with another, better matching mate, and/or choose a hatchling to find a mate for to get close to my goal. If any of these dragons have genes that I want, that is an added bonus, otherwise I plan to buy most of the treasure genes once I have all the finished dragons.
Anything else I should know? Any failed dragons will be exalted to the Gladekeeper and their treasure saved up to buy genes and breed change scrolls for the chosen one. I will also be breeding these dragons in "chronological order" from the oldest deitys' representative to the youngest. I also will not be caring about eye rarity as I started this project before that was a thing and honestly don't care to add that to my RNG plate..
So what are you waiting for? Honestly, I wasn't sure if I'd be up for this challenge, so I told myself if I could get one of my Flight reps bred then I would chronicle the rest here. Well, since you're reading this thread you can probably guess that was a success! From here on out I plan to try and post updates on my nests and hatchlings for all to join in and see, and, as an additional bonus, I'll finally have a visual guide to what I'm doing so I can stop scrying dragons because I forgot what a certain gene looks like.
What can I do to help? Cheer me on, brainstorm some cool names, scry up your own versions of this project and show me, point me towards cool nest rental people, or just hang out and watch me
