Week 5's scrying challenge is now open for submissions! Scry your best interpretation of the Alstroemeria Fox, Amaranth Moth, and Amber Gulper!

Additionally, I was wondering how people would feel about @GlassJungle or myself submitting scries as well? I'd like to also participate, but I've refrained as we're the ones running the challenges.

For transparency's sake, here's how we handle the voting and tallying process. I'm hoping that it removes bias sufficiently on the part of voters and organizers alike so that I could participate as well.
  1. I go through the entries and save them in the order they were posted. So the very first Agol entry in the challenge (for example) is saved as "agol1" to my desktop, the second is "agol2", and so on.
  2. I open the voting image file on my computer and replace the images of the past challenge with the images of the current challenge. So "agol1" goes in the spot previously occupied by "striker1" from the previous week, which is labeled "1", and so on, roughly clockwise around an image of the corresponding familiar.
  3. I post the voting image to the challenge page and in the Google Forms survey. You can see an example of the voting images here.
  4. I put together a Google Forms survey. Here is an example of the survey. It references each entry by its assigned number in the voting image file.
  5. Once the survey closes on the Saturday of the challenge, I go through and make a list of the number of votes per each entry. (For example, 7/7/6 meaning 7 first place votes, 7 second place votes, 6 third place votes.)
  6. If there is a clear winner in first place votes, ta-da, that's the winner. If it's really close, though, or if there's a tie (which is especially common in the 2nd/3rd places, or sometimes the 3rd/4th places), I use a Borda count system to calculate the winner.
  7. I count my way back through the entries to figure out who actually submitted whichever entry won. (There has got to be a better way to do this. I probably ought to keep a running list of which entry number goes with which player. Still experimenting with the most efficient way to do this.)
  8. I enter all the data into an announcement post on the thread.
