Quests & Challenges

This challenge was originally proposed by @CelestialPrime in this thread, and I really like the idea so I asked their permission to jazz it up a little and here we are!

1. Choose an all basic dragon of a plentiful breed (mirror, fae, tundra, or guardian)
2. Choose a mate for them with a modern, common breed and all common genes (there is an official breed rarity guide here and an official gene rarity guide here)
3. Breed them until you get a hatchling with the common breed and all three common genes. No more basic/plentiful!
4. Keep track of your frustration by earning Patience Points (PPs?) for every failed hatchling. See the next post for the scoring system. You can share your hatchlings and your running PP total in this thread!
5. Suffer
6. Ping me @Gender if you win! (I'm still active! Last checked in: august 2023)

The probability of succeeding this challenge is 0.81%, which, honestly?, is ridiculous. I have an incredible respect for anyone who attempts this wild goose chase with me.

Tips

• Once in a blue moon, the staff will change the rarity of an existing gene. This has always been announced well in advance. If this happens to your EPBC breeding pair, you can gene-scroll the affected dragon or change them for a different one with appropriate genes.
• Take time picking your parent dragons. Choose breeds, colours, and genes that you like. You'll be seeing them a lot over the course of this challenge and you don't want to get sick of them.
• Consider picking a pair with a very wide colour range to make it less boring, or choosing a pair with a colour range that will make a lot of beautiful hatchlings!
• DON'T TRY TO KEEP ALL THE FAILURES! Your lair will fill up faster than you can keep up with. Don't feel bad about selling or exalting dragons!

The chances of getting a Rare gene over a Limited one are 3%. That makes the chance of the final, incredible step of the Extreme Patience Breeding challenge a step with exactly a 0.00000081% chance of happening.

If you complete the extended version and want to take a final leap into the arms of probability, find an all Rare mate for your all Limited hatchling and breed them until you get an all Rare hatchling!
