This has been one of the worst, most agitating days I've had in a long time. Much of it is personal, but Flight Rising has decided to rub salt in the wound.
You see these two failures?

First, they one-egged me. Back when they nested I thought, "Well, I guess that means there's no war for this generation. That's fine." But [i]oh sweet giddy Gladekeeper[/i], I take that all back.
Here's what they produced:

Tundra.
With NO primary gene.
NO secondary gene.
And NO improvement in the tertiary gene.
I'm halfway through my challenge already -- she's my fifth step -- and this was the most [i]boring[/i] hatch I've ever seen. Here I thought that it couldn't get any worse than [url=http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/qnc/2044950/1#post_25009545]my first set of hatchlings[/url], but even if they were triple-Basic and I had no preference, there was at least the thrill of not knowing which one would emerge victorious in battle. It was a fun test of the core mechanic of a Legacy of War. But [i]this?[/i]
No excitement. No drama. No beating the odds. Just some lame little girl who set out to ruin my day from the very start.
But wait!
It gets [i]even better![/i]
Finding a mate for her was ALSO a huge pain! I can't guarantee the XYX Orca anymore; the only dragon with appropriately-boosted genes and breed rarity on the Auction House was literally her uncle, so that was out for obvious reasons. So I set a range for the primary and tertiary that included whites, grays, and blacks. I found an [i]incredible[/i] mate with Lace, which is my new favorite tertiary of that rarity, but he was 90kt and therefore above my price ceiling.
So I settled for this bitter-looking angel, Rubrik:

He's triple-White, has virtually all the same genes as Heartless's mom except he has Tiger in place of Falcon, and he seems convinced that he has better things to do. For the love of the gods of Sornieth, dude, [i]please[/i] give it your best effort, okay?
And Heartless. Little one.
Prove your name wrong.
Show that you have the heart and courage to try and strive forward. Demonstrate with alacrity your hopes to see your bloodline grow beautiful and strong. That's all I'm hoping for, my child.
If your love is stronger than that of your prissy and bored incompatible parents, then I know you'll do well, and shed yourself of that horrible name in favor of one that may suit your soul all the better.
Now that I've vented all my rage away, I just have one more thing to say: I believe in you!
