Quests & Challenges

My quest is to save up enough treasure to buy certain apparel for some of my dragons. I barely buy anything cause I don't have a lot of treasure, and most of my apparel is from chests. I was going to offer an idea of making a savings option, but I'll try this first. I want to have a Geode or gemstone dragon with facet and every secondary color on the color wheel. [size=6]Flight Rising meets Talisman[/size] So today, I had the ingenious idea to have Flight Rising meet one of my favorite board games, Talisman, and combine it with rules akin to a fodderlocke challenge. As said, so done. I drew a "Gaming board" with "Team playing figures" on different levels in gimp (will not share, looks awful!), made a document with baseline rules, converted my old fodderlocke into the new one and started. For those unfamiliar: In Talisman, players compete with each other to become king of the world. In FR terms, the dragons find themselves in a strange pocket dimension with completely different rules and try to find a way back to Sornieth. I started playing with 3 Teams, consisting of 4-5 dragons each (what I just had in my fodderlocke challenge). As this is pretty much a WIP, I will discuss rules as the dragons find them. It blurred away in front of their eyes, and when the four could see again, they found that several things had substantially changed: They were not in a dense forest any more, but on a cobblestone street in what seemed to be a rather peaceful village. They were all about equal in size, particularly shocking to Edra, who was rather used to looking down on the others. Their wings did not work. As much as they flapped and ran and tried to gain height, they did not leave the ground for more than long jumps. All their jumping, flailing and flapping transported them - rather unintentionally - into what looked like a blacksmith´s workshop. Armour and Weapons were proudly on display, and those got Auryn and Enzianna to pay attention. After a short check-up, they noticed that all their belongings had vanished as well, not a single coin was to be found on them. Without much fuss, the blacksmith showed them out of his workshop once it became clear these dragons were not paying customers, but no more information could be gleamed from him. Rather downtrodden, the squad chose a direction and started walking, away from the village, discussing all those strange happenings. Deep in talk, they hardly noticed the large, aggressive-looking group of wolves until it was too late. Auryn and Edra fought tooth and nail, as they were used to, until the last monstrous wolf dropped. "We need a plan." Enzianna piped up in her monotonous voice, her frills indicating decisiveness and anger. "I want to go home. We need to find out how to do that." The others agreed, but Auryn took Edra to the side for a moment. "This fight." he hissed. "It made me much stronger than it should have. Did you feel anything?" Edra nodded her agreement, but also motioned towards the other two. "Yeah, yeah. You are right, big girl. We stay with Enzianna, she will work this out. She always does." The grown-ups decided to split into two groups, as two of the hatchlings wanted storie time, and two wanted to go swimming. Errol, Asia and Androvent took the swimming group out to a river near their hiding place were they had an absolute blast! It was really fun, but sooner rather than later the little ones needed to be brought back home for nap time. As kids always, everywhere, are - they did not want to, and so a merry chase through familiar woods was in order to get the little ones home, when suddenly the world blurred and lost all focus. When the dragons could see again, the hatchlings were hurtling down unfamiliar hills, with unfamiliar smells surrounding them. Fast as they could, the three followed up and caught them a good race later, while the hatchies were calling out for their siblings. Only then had they time to realize the changes: All about equal size (except for the grown up and child difference), no functional wings, no gear, nothing familiar except for them. After a brief discussion, Errol stayed with the hatchlings who were finally behaving and the other two went on a scouting trip to find out more about their surroundings. When they came back to Errol, Asia was proudly carrying a chest. "There is a river over there that cant be jumped across, and not swum over. It is a very strange river, but I found this on the riverside. Might be useful." It was hard to argue that anything was better than nothing, so yeah, they kept the crate on them. But night was slowly falling, and they needed a way home... The good thing was, there was plenty of food, and it seemed save enough to just stay here by the riverside for the night. They could follow their own scent back home in the morning...
