TOPIC | Dragon sizes in your lore?
i go with canon sizes as shown on their physical attributes tab. the diversity in dragon sizes is interesting to think about when it comes to dragons interacting with each other.

Canon sizes! I find it much more fun and a challenge to incorporate the size differences into world building rather than make them all similar in size.

I usually just make them all about the same sized for the sake of carrying out interactions between dragons of different species bc imo it would be kind of oddly difficult for me to write the sizes, though I dont really know how big they are

Eeeh I just kind of ignore canon sizing, there's nothing really in my lore that directly calls to it. If someone else reads it and goes "because of X and Y size, the library they share must be huge!" or whatever that's just fun.

I was fully under the impression Veilspuns were horse sized though and got a surprise when they were described as comparably small in the Everlux release announcement, but that's on me not paying attention.

I don't follow canon lore anymore, but I do keep the canon sizes. That's probably one of my favorite parts of the site. I love that my spiral can curl around her imperial boyfriend's antlers and I want to commission art of it someday. It's just cool to come up with city and lore concepts around it. I kind of imagine their size difference to be more akin to dog breeds, though for the most part still scaled in such a way that's compliant to lore.

Regarding forum games, please only select dragons who have familiars - those are the permanent residents of my lair. Feel free to look through the hibernal den, too
I mostly like canon sizes (makes for fun worldbuilding!), but I'll admit to having two dragon breeds I imagine as slightly bigger or smaller:

Spirals are twice the size they are described as - more like a large python than a skinny cobra.

Nocturnes are twice as small as they are described as- more like an architectural gargoyle.

I mostly use canon sizes, but I do have some larger or smaller(sometimes by a lot!) That don’t follow canon size. Those are individual and not based on breed, but personal lore for that specific dragon. My plant dragon,Zoeb, for example is a giant coatl,at 65 meters long! But his size is based on being a living plant grove,so he has to be giant

I envision mine to be all reasonably sized when compared to each other. Like some are bigger and some are smaller but it would be the difference in size between a large dog for the smallest and an elephant for the biggest.

I cannot handle writing characters that are so far apart in size that they would be like an elephant an a beetle trying to interact with each other. That limits the story telling to much for me and I feel like I have to waste pages just trying to explain how they aren't stepping on each other and how they can even hear each other speak.

If I have to constantly address the size differences while I'm writing I'm not having fun so I flatten them all out in size to make it easier on myself.

I try to keep it similar to canon lore, though to much less extremes. faes are still some of the smallest species, and imperials the biggest, but the larger isn't like 50x the size of the smaller. It makes me feel like I'm still canon-aligned enough while making things like building houses and ships for mixed-species lairs easier, haha.
