@GiddyExcitement

I certainly hope they will be. I don't know how much I'll write, since I don't plan to publish it anywhere, but... I do want to have a little more than mechanical notes. Though even those will probably be annotated with his thoughts on certain things. (Annotated notes are the best.)

Sucar is the definition of "watch and wait until the moment arrives". To a great extent he keeps his head down and does what he's told, at least a bare minimum, but he is always, always watching. Because to be caught unawares is to be caught dead. He has to stay one step ahead of his mother, or else she'll likely lose interest and send him packing up the Beacon.

This has gotten much easier with him recently bonding with Orphisa during his mother's "illness". The two of them like each other, even if they still confuse one another sometimes. Sucar doesn't understand how Orphisa can still genuinely care about Burnbright, while Orphisa doesn't understand how even now Sucar can be so bitter about so much. But that's why they're different characters, isn't it?

I still can't believe how much I'm warming up to Sucar. Adonis might still be my favorite, but I've slowly been warming up to Sucar the past couple of entries that he's written. I'm looking forward to see what he's gotten to planning, considering he's bound to have had plenty of time to think about something during his "punishment" to care for the eggs.

Oh, Sucar is making plans. I like it when Sucar makes plans. =P Burnbright should have left him incubating, he'd have gone mad with boredom before long!

That's the first Obelisk baby Sucar and Sidase have had, isn't it? That'd be a fun milestone if their relationship wasn't... what it is. Kind of fun that Sucar's first nest with someone not Sidase threw two higher-rarity babies immediately before this nest, though. It almost-but-not-quite means something. ;P

I'm glad that he's getting more positive about the fates of his children, though. I do like to believe that the deities are kind to the dragons exalted to them.

(sorry I haven't been very talkative, btw; chronic fatigue flare. fun times all round)

Sucar is so clever. Love to see it. :D And what a lovely obbie hatchling!

At this point I think the formula for a Sucar update is, "Burnbright is trying to accomplish something, but what she doesn't know is there's a whole setting with lots of intimate details out there, and most of it objects to everything she stands for." And really I think that's a beautiful thing - especially since Sucar is so much more clever than anyone, except maybe Orphisa, gives him credit for. If Burnbright is trying to show him how miserable a mundane life with Clan Scuridae would be, she had a single stroke of luck that will never come again, because she doesn't understand that these people want to relieve one another's suffering. She's trying on everyone being out for themselves, wanting to make anyone else do the hard work, and that's just not how Clan Scuridae functions.

Oh, I missed that! Shoot, I'll have to write Sucar musing about the meaning of higher-rarity hatchlings later. Burnbright is the one who usually cares about that - in a very ironic twist, considering children resembling a rarer father a sign of divine favor, despite it meaning they look less like her. (Her daughter will be held to a more intimate standard, of course. She need not be exact, but... the closer, the better. Which is why you'll see a lot of yellow, orange, and red mates for a bit.)

And yeah, I think the deities do care about their exalts, often through their flight's philosophical lens. The Lightweaver cares about the truth of what these people can do and who they are, not just to maximize efficiency, but in a sense to put them on their natural path. Skill and talent cannot completely override interest and will. Burnbright's been trying to build an army by sending combat-capable children, but training isn't the only relevant factor.

And please don't feel like you have to apologize for your health - I've been wondering, but real life (especially in terms of health and safety) is so much more important than this. Please take care of yourself <3

Right? He started out so bitter and angry, it's impressive how far he's come. He almost seems like someone you could spend time with now! :P As for his plans... well, it looks like Burnbright is trying to show him how miserable he would be if he had a mundane life among Clan Scuridae. But in the process she sure is letting him build a lot of connections with other clan members, huh? I'm sure this will have no detrimental effects on her control over his life. None at all. (And I'm sure these nonexistent detrimental effects will have no extra unintended consequences should they manifest...)

People being... nice to each other? Impossible! Incredible! And worst of all, implausible!
I do like that you have so much clan lore behind the scenes, it does make Burnbright look much worse in comparison, because it shows up how small-minded she really is and how unwilling to let go of the way she was brought up. She could have made a fresh start and got away from all that! But no. She couldn't comprehend it.
It also makes Sucar's development more satisfying, because he could have gone the same way and refused to believe in any of the positive things, but he didn't!

Burnbright's ideal (other than her daughter-to-be) is clearly to have a baby who looks just like her but at a higher rarity. =P Impressive offering!

Now you have me imagining Flamecaller towering over a bunch of new exalts going CAN YOU WORK A FORGE?? lmao

Ah thank you for saying! It just means I get really tired very easily and it's hard to make words go. But I'll try and always have a comment on new updates at least!

I've been working on this stuff for about three years, and if I'm ever in a position where I just don't have an idea in my head it is deeply uncomfortable. I've thought about the clan and its functions a lot. Some of the lore is meant to explain how I play the game - the clan being polynormative was originally because I started the game with a huge love of throwing random dragons on a nest, well before I knew how colors and gene rarity worked - but now it's such a huge comfort space. While still allowing for my beloved angst, as you can see.

So fun fact, as I was shopping for the next mate I had to turn down at least three Gold triples just because that would be way too easy for this leg of the story. Settled on Flaxen, it's still pretty close if my memory serves me.

Heee. If not, I suppose they'll have to learn!

I'm familiar with chronic fatigue, though I don't... exactly have it myself. (I do have a Vitamin D deficiency that leaves me tired every day unless I take some vitamins but I'm not sure that quite counts.) Chronic conditions are a pain and deserve to be taken seriously. But I do appreciate your interest and investment - it really does help with the motivation train. :)

That makes a lot of sense! I too have been known to enjoy throwing dragons on nests willy-nilly. =P But sometimes just trying to explain things you do as part of the game mechanics makes for the best lore and headcanons. My lair did have overarching lore for a while, but it's been through a few near-complete clearouts and rebuilds because I keep going on random hiatuses and the way it shook out this time was individual lore but not overarching, because it really makes no sense for half my dragons to be in the same place as each other...

HA the AH was like 'hey i heard you wanted to breed a triple gold?' and you had to be like 'no, no, listen, I want there to be narrative tension for Lightweaver's sake!'

Oh man no I think a chronic deficiency counts! Definitely counts as a chronic condition anyway and hey, it makes you fatigued... Mine doesn't technically have a diagnosis behind it yet but all the usual tests haven't shown up anything and I don't know what else to call being incredibly tired all the time. =P I have achieved referral to a specialist but of course there's a waiting list so we'll see how long that takes...
You're very welcome! I wouldn't be invested if it wasn't interesting to me!

Oh I nearly forgot- since Kostid is only a few days off being RTB i scried him with a few of my existing girls just for the heck of it and he makes really pretty babies... with Sheba and Dova, the horrible spoiled brat coatl queen and princess of my Bright Court. The lore implications of breeding him with them would be so terrible LMAO.
He also makes pretty babies with Van Gogh my artist Mirror though who is a much safer option, personalitywise!
