Please show my dragons who weren't always dragons- that is, dragons who were once mere abstract concepts, inanimate objects, or animals given draconic form.
Seafoam:
Definitely not a swath of seafoam that somehow gained both sentience and a draconic form.
Definitely not.
...perhaps this argument would be more convincing not taking place on the ocean floor...
Koi:
This unusual dragon chose to name himself after his original form, so as to never forget his roots.
Unmei:
“I know there are those who claim that I don’t know much about anything,” the sanguine dragon with no face said. “But I think it doesn’t have to work like this.”
“It does,” FrostBite said, struggling to push him off. His talons shoved ineffectually at him. This should not be possible.
No creature is able to come in contact with his ice-touched scales and come away without severe frostbite, at the very least. “Dragons kill each other all the time. In war, in here, anywhere, for no reason at all. That’s how we are. Especially you and me. We’re the same. We’re dangerous.”
“That’s not how I am,” the faceless dragon said.
A part of FrostBite wondered at how a dragon with no mouth could even speak.
The sanguine pearlcatcher leaned down, eyeless, mouthless face peaking out at him unsettlingly from under his dusty sage cover. “No matter what happened when I hatched, even I could not find the killer inside me that my own mother, Misfortune, and my father, Luck, claim is supposed to be there. Maybe that’s what Knowing and BlueRhythm's prophecy is about. Maybe we can show everyone- dragons, beasts, everyone- how to get along without killing.”
FrostBite stopped struggling, eyes wide. "How do you know of their prophecy?"
The male pearlcatcher hummed faintly.
Upset at the unbalancing of the old order among dragon kind, Luck and Misfortune took on physical draconic forms and had a singular hatchling, whom they raised with the intent of using to threaten the rest of dragon kind back into line.
Unfortunately, Fate caught wind of their intent and was quick to put an end to their intended cruelty.
Unmei was saddened by the loss of his parents, but also understood the reasoning behind Fate's actions, and bore her no ill will.
Raised by three physical embodiments of ideals and legendary concepts, this sanguine male pearlcatcher possesses a united spiritual connection to all eleven elemental flights, though his connection with light is a bit stronger than the rest.
He has displayed powerful psychic abilities and an innate but often unspoken sense of the future. Specifically, he is able to see a virtually endless number of potential futures, which are both less and more powerful than the abilities possessed by Knowing and BlueRhythm.
This young demi-spirit has no face. Indeed, he possesses no eyes, no eye sockets, no mouth, and no nose. His ability to breathe and speak stems from his magical adeptness, and he is granted a spiritual sight via his innate spiritual connections to the elven elemental deities. After all, the moon simply reflects the sun's light.
Though sadly, Unmei will never truly know the taste of genuine food, he absorbs nutrients through the sun and moonlight, hence his stronger connection to the light element.

Koi:
A former koi fish, given the form of a dragon to match its draconic spirit.
This unusual dragon chose to name himself after his original form, so as to never forget his roots.
Blessed by Water
Caught by Water
"...identity issues? Me? No, not really."
Unmei:
The faceless dragon and demi-spirit champion of Fate, Unmei.
Meaning of Unmei: fate; destiny.
