scry plans but .. fade can be a god sent for gen1s. first thing i do when i see an unmatchy looking gen1 is see what color it fades into. sometimes they end up matching weirdly with colors u wouldnt expect.
[font=helvetica]Fade is truly one of my all-time faves! I love it because it does something that used to be unique to Iridescent, which is give a dragon’s body variation/gradients of color—except unlike Iri, it even introduces striking accent colors in the mix!
There are a few poses on which I think it comes off a bit too flat (I have an fpose noc with it who suffers from this; I’m keeping an eye out for alternatives for this reason), but overall I find it really beautiful.
Without knowing what it is about the gene that doesn’t vibe for you, it’s hard to say whether anything I share will make a difference, but here are some of my faves from my lair—starting with pistachio fade/blend, an all-time favorite:

This is overlaid with cream stained, for an even softer look.[/columns]

Sitka here also demonstrates one of my favorite poses for displaying Fade: the combination of a slender body and sharply delineated belly keep the colors from seeming too flat, imo.[/columns]

Veils are another breed that I especially like with Fade; it works on them for I think the same reason it does skydancers. In this case, the gene also has a nice understated quality that helps display the skincent in an especially striking way (if I say so myself).[/columns]

It's just
So smooth
So soft
So perfect for bold tert genes

I really like the fade gene, so I was surprised I only have one dragon with it! Seems I need to search the auction house for some fade/blend dragons

Here's with skin and apparel .. which completely covers up the gene. >_<

This is my one Fade dragon. It never crossed my mind to try that gene on her, until someone posted a scry and I realised how good it looked.
It provides a bit of contrast in what’s otherwise a sea of very similar colours.
