ohoho! obscure animals you say?
my favourite animal also happens to be extremely obscure...
(im having trouble uploading images rn i dont use forums much lol you can either look this upcoming animal up or ill come back having remembered how to upload images later)
the caecilian!
caecilians are a group of limbless mostly blind amphibians that look somewhere between a snake and an earthworm. the majority of species live underground and are very hard to research so not too much about them is know
heres a fun fact through!: baby caecilians feed by a) drinking a liquid secreted from their mothers tail and b) by eating their mothers skin once every 3 weeks! when caring for her children a mother caecilian will grown a layer of fat filled skin for her children to eat. all while huddled together in an underground dirt burrow.
i really like caecilians because i accidentally made an oc that looked exactly like one before i even knew what they were, ive literally described them as "half snake half worm" not realizing there is an actual animal that is literally that. now i spread the word of these beasts when i can and read any papers i can find on them, recently i read one about an investigation into if theyre venomous :]

Tree kangaroos! one of my favourites who are slowly coming into the spotlight. were only found recently (1928) and they shake them out of trees to put trackers on them. We barely know anything about their socialization still!

I too have a list of obscure animals I find around the internet :D
One of my favorites is this little guy called Sea Toad

There's also the Bagworm Moth Caterpillar, that builds its case with natural materials and can end up looking like this:

And last, but not least, there is this dragon-looking birb called Great Eared Nightjar
