TOPIC | Undertide Gene Error Thread
1 2
This thread is to track any gene errors that occur with the Undertide breed. This thread is for this breed only.

Many genes have accommodations for dragon anatomy where one breed is every so slightly different than others because it worked better for them. These are not considered errors.

Please report any errors you encounter and we will do our best to correct them in a timely manner.

Sadly, the multi gaze and line breaking tertiary issue is a technical limitation. Eyes must always layer over the primary, secondary, and tertiary genes, and they are not contextually aware of what is below them and able to alter their shape to accommodate. This is a limitation with all of our dragons that have line breaking tertiaries.

Note that it may take a short while for the site's internal image cache to reflect the corrected image assets.

Corrected Issues
 • Eye: Glowing on all Undertide had the glow radius increased.
 • Eye: Multi-Gaze on all Undertide had the colors of the eyes running down the side not match the color of the eye in the normal eye placement.
 • Eye: Multi-Gaze on M Undertide had a line of stray pixels on the lefthand side of the artwork removed.
 • Eye: Primal (Shadow) on all Undertide has a red outline that should not be present corrected.
 • Primary genes on H Undertide all have a small notch cut out where the belly meets the secondary on the right side near the "hand" fin. This was corrected in Bar, Basic, Boa, Boulder, Checkers, Cherub, Crystal, Fade, Falcon, Giraffe, Lionfish, Octopus, Pharaoh, Pinstripe, Poison, Ribbon, Ripple, Savannah, Speckle, Swirl, Tide, Wasp, and Wolf.
 • Primary: Cherub on H Undertide had the pattern bleed into the horns and belly corrected.
 • Primary: Cherub on F Undertide had the stray pixel on the barbel corrected.
 • Primary: Cherub on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Primary: Falcon on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Primary: Poison on H Undertide had its tongue and mouth color corrected.
 • Primary: Savannah on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Primary: Speckle on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Primary: Swirl on all Undertide had the missing nose gradient corrected.
 • Primary: Swirl on all Undertide had the outer edge color corrected so it would be visible on all colors. It had the inner color's opacity turned down to be consistent with the modern version.
 • Primary: Tide on Undertide M & H had the correct tongue and mouth color applied for the Tide gene, which differs from the Basic gene.
 • Primary: Wolf on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Secondary on H Undertide had stray pixels along the tips of the wings cleaned up on Basic, Bee, Blend, Chess, Current, Daub, Eel, Facet, Foam, Freckle, Hex, Marbled, Myrid, Noxtide, Pack, Peregrine, Rings, Saddle, Safari, Sarcophagus, Seraph, Toxin, and Trail.
 • Secondary on M Undertide had the negative space in the wings restored on Basic, Bee, Blend, Chess, Current, Daub, Eel, Facet, Foam, Freckle, Hex, Marbled, Myrid, Noxtide, Pack, Peregrine, Rings, Saddle, Safari, Sarcophagus, Seraph, Toxin, and Trail.
 • Secondary: Freckle on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Secondary: Marbled on all Undertide had the outer edge color corrected so it would be visible on all colors. It had the inner color's opacity turned down to be consistent with the modern version.
 • Secondary: Noxtide on F Undertide had a color correction.
 • Secondary: Pack on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Secondary: Peregrine on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Secondary: Safari on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Secondary: Seraph on all Undertide had its colors corrected from THE GREAT MISCLICK.
 • Tertiary: Capsule on all Undertide had additional highlights added.
 • Tertiary: Gembond on all Undertide had its highlights corrected to match the modern version of the gene.
 • Tertiary: Sailfin on M Undertide has a stray line between the frontmost "hand" spines removed.
 • Tertiary: Remora on all Undertide had the antique color corrected.
 • Tertiary: Remora on all Undertide had the Thicket colors corrected.
 • Tertiary: Remora on F Undertide has the head fin clipping into the fish corrected.
 • Tertiary: Remora on M Undertide has an the unshaded fish to the right given shading.
 • Tertiary: Veined on F & H Undertide are now properly clipped to the silhouette of the dragon.

Known Issues

Investigating (Not sure if issue or not)

Working as intended
 • Some genes do not have the belly color that is used for basic genes. This is by intent, but should be consistent within itself and with modern counterparts (if present)
 • Some genes do not use the horn colors consistent with basic genes. This is by intent, but should be consistent within itself and with modern counterparts (if present)
 • Primary: Octopus in Sunset has a greyish looking shadow color on the belly. This is somewhat intended, as a color tint must be chosen for the shadow for the dragon, and it had an orange tinted shadow, which neutralizes over the blue. If we chose a blue color tint for the shadow, it would neutralize to grey over the orange parts.
 • Tertiary: Flecks in white does not appear to have the shine effect because it’s impossible to go brighter from a pure white. The only way to get a shine to show up would be to make the base of the color be a light grey, which would effectively make it look less white. As such, this is considered to be working as intended. There is a shine there, it’s just not possible to see because it’s’ a white on white shine!
 • Tertiary: Flecks for Undertide is intended to be a Limited gene rarity, as it is produced from a site activity, Coliseum. Modern and other versions of flecks will have their rarity level increased on or after September 18th to bring them in line.

I will be deleting reports that have been corrected, are not considered an issue, or are duplicate reports as I encounter/investigate them to keep the thread current!

Spots that I'm assuming were meant to be erased, because stained does not affect them.

This one is a work in progress, and will take a while to fix - looks like these holes were missed on every secondary gene.

As a heads up, we are still monitoring this thread. I will lock it when we have done what we consider the main sweep of undertide genes. (After which the any future errors would go in the main thread)

Apologies that a few of these errors have hung around for longer than is ideal. I hope to get some time during our two week Night of the Nocturne breather. Until then we’ve got a lot of stuff to prep behind the scenes!

Just noting that there are still more revisions to undertide genes to make.

Today Gembond nightshade on Undertide dragons was fixed to have the correct highlight color.

I am here to note that we are still taking error reports for Undertide genes and will be correcting them! [emoji=undertide deadpan size=1] Since Aether is fresh off the press we're gonna address those first, but then Undertide is due for getting its pass finished. Our apologies that these errors have been around for so long. Getting the Aether/Undertide and known gene errors threads caught up so we can have a master thread for all gene reporting again is a goal of ours! Thank you for your patience!

I’m performing a bit of a thread cleanup on the Undertide Errors for clarity.

With Aether and Sandsurge I started cleaning up and listing confirmed and corrected errors in the top post. I then removed anything that was addressed or not an issue, and it made a big difference with being able to keep track of everything as well as communicate to players what is a known issue. Undertide didn’t have that organization, so there’s corrected issues here alongside things that are considered working as intended and things that are still outstanding issues.

If you see your post disappear, it doesn’t mean you did anything wrong by reporting it (we appreciate the reports!). It means:
 • The issue is corrected.
 • Someone else reported the same issue.
 • The report is considered working as intended.
 • The post veered out of a report and into a discussion.

The starting post for this thread has been updated with all known errors and errors that are under investigation. Thank you for your reports.
I’m performing a bit of a thread cleanup on the Undertide Errors for clarity.
Would it be appropriate to report gene rarity errors related to a breed, or are those types of bug reports inappropriate for threads like these where the focus is more on art errors?
Sure, if you encounter any rarity, pricing, or acquisition errors (recipes, etc): as long as it's for a gene for this breed, it's fine to post in this topic.

All male Undertide now have their secondary negative space appropriately cut out from between the wing spines.

All genes that had green or other color issues from THE GREAT MISCLICK are resolved on Undertide.
Not sure if this has been reported or if it's even an error but it kinda looks like a very small portion of the hatchling's body is...missing? I've noticed this little gap between the body and fin in every single gene and color that I've looked at so far Example:
I looked it over and this isn't a drawing error - there's literally a chunk missing out of all of the primary gene templates that got accidentally cut into when separating it from the secondary genes. All of the hatchling's primary genes (and likely many tertiaries) will need to be re-saved and output again. But we'll get that minor kink out of the drawing. Since it's a hatchling, we're not affecting skins by doing so, so changing the template is not much of an issue, just a bit time consuming. Edit: Corrections in.
