TOPIC | beginning coliseum questions
Hi all, its time that I get serious about building a good coliseum team. My goals are building a team for farming and exaltation fodder training.

I'm currently building for the glass cannon build following the guide https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/1040710.

I'm not sure if there is any specific venue I want to specialize in, so I'm building for a general team

I can afford a few Ambush/Berserker stones and elemental might fragments but need to grind more treasure for Eliminate(s)

I just wanted to confirm that I picked out a solid pair of dragons with good elemental types

Here are my dragons, I picked two Banescales since they started with strong strength and quickness

Sani, earth
lv7
STR29
QCK20
all other stats at base level

Alesinde, plague
lv7
same stats

TL:DR Will this be a good coliseum team?

If you're levelling from scratch, you'll want to use three dragons. The elements don't particularly matter if you want a general grinding team - if you think you might restat one or more to a fodder leveller later earth will do but you might want to grab a lightning or arcane.

@Vendrus I do have a lightning ridgeback as the third, and she's two levels above the banescales. I had been planning her to be the one to drop later, but if she's more valuable to keep as one of the two main dragons, that works too

@Gwenievre Seconding Vendrus, you'll want to keep Kaleena as your third team member until the team has reached Level 25. The only 2-dragon builds I'm aware of are only used to train single dragons in a handful of training venues, which is generally less efficient if you can instead make a dedicated single trainer, or a team of 3. Most dedicated exalt trainers are "2-fodder trainers" - single dragons that are capable of training 2 dragons at once by themselves. They're considered the top priority for the majority of Coliseum players, since a 2-fodder trainer means you'll be able to train dragons for battle or exalting much, much faster in the future. To be specific, Lightning/Arcane dragons are recommended as Mire Trainers due to their elemental resistances to the Mire's most magic-heavy enemies. This is considered the most efficient way to train more dragons, and without having to go through this teambuilding process again. Unless there's an Arcane dragon you'd like to use first, I would plan for Kaleena to be a 2-fodder trainer in the Mire venue, and give her your first Eliminate stone whenever you acquire it. Earth & Plague aren't terrible for general item farmers, but given the process you're currently grinding through, you can imagine why quick & easy leveling is incredibly desirable for fun & profit. In addition, you may want to look at EeveeDream's Updated Leveling Guide. It's built on Culex's (Duke's) guide, with slightly updated stats and alternative build suggestions, including the slow-but-Eliminate-free Sedona Build. This may be useful if you aren't sure you'll have access to Eliminates in time, but it is considerably slower than Eliminate builds at the same levels. Lastly, once your team's made it to Level 25, you may need to use a [gamedb item=965] on any dragon you plan on giving specific builds. The leveling guides' stats are for getting your basic team to max level, but many Coliseum Builds are tailored to the exact venues you'll be facing with each dragon. Again, I'd prioritize making Kaleena (or her Arcane replacement) a Mire Trainer in order to train more dragons in the future with far less hassle. I personally use the MireFisher build, but it's up to you! For general farming, I'm a fan of Maki's Builds, particularly the 3-dragon all-venue farming team. They've never failed me, even when I'm using 2 Earth dragons in the Kelp Beds! The Coliseum is a big place, with a pretty high cost for entry - take your time with the process, but keep looking for ways to save it, too! I hope this was helpful! [emoji=new friend]

@NightmareJudge Thanks for such a detailed explanation! I had been thinking it would be too complex to build for a specific venue so early, but the MireFisher build looks really straightforward and easy to plan out

I'm going to swap out an Arcane dragon that I hatched myself for one of the banescales and I can work on eventually building her as the future primary MireFisher. In the meantime Kaleena will do just fine

@NightmareJudge and @Vendrus

Update: I ground the coliseum like mad and with some savvy sales through the AH, I leveled Zerilla (and her two support dragons) to lv25 and got her fully equipped. Success! Thank you both for your advice!
