the coliseum has been messing up a few times. When I just finish a battle or am about to finish everything freezes, and there was one point where the monster just disappeared before giving it the finishing blow.

This just happened to me. I got docked the energy as though I'd lost the battle, too - against a single blooming strangler, well below my level.
EDIT: That happened a few minutes ago, and I've been unable to connect to the coliseum since.
