TOPIC | I love basic
Sometimes Basic really is the best, prettiest option.
I have a few basic tert dragons - not because their tert color isn't workable, because it absolutely is, but the primary and secondary genes used just do such a good job that adding a third would ruin what I have going on already.
I also have a couple of dragons who will have basic primary and/or secondary. Okapi over a same-color Basic primary is a thing of beauty. And basic Abyss with Sanguine stained makes for a wonderfully dark color.

Yes! In this house we love & appreciate Basic <3 My progens will probably always have Basic and I'm okay with that! I know some folks feel like a dragon is incomplete without geneing them up but I'm happy with their current look. Sometimes it's just nice to have a simple vibe, y'know?

Basic is good and sometimes colours just dont need any more flair from flashy genes. They’re just good as they are

Now, I don't think I'll ever like it as a secondary, but Primary and Tertiary Basic can look really good. One of my fave dragons has basic as their Prim, and one of my current plans has a basic Tert.
