Hey! I like biology/paleontology/zoology as well!
I'm a college student majoring in geology but I'm hoping to possibly branch off into paleontology as well if I get the chance!
I'm actually not really interested in the Mesozoic Era, my favorite would be the Paleozoic era. I love learning about all the weird interesting life before the dinosaurs, If I do decide to go into paleontology that's where my focus would be.
1. Utahraptor
2. Anomalocaris/Trilobites/Eurypterids/Placoderms/Gorgonopsids... there's too many awesome extinct animals to choose from!
3. Red-tailed Hawk
What is your favorite Period on the geologic time scale? (You can also answer your favorite Eon, Era, Epoch, Age to if you have one)
My favorite Period is the Ediacaran - such weird interesting creatures, the first multicellular life!

i very much enjoy the paleozoic era as a whole, but my favorite periods have got to be the cambrian and the ordivician. the first major explosion of complex life and the circumstances immediately following that are eternally fascinating to me

science yeeee!!!!!! biology is really interesting. I don't know as much about the speculative and paleontology sides but it's still really epic.
1) uhh velociraptors? I love raptors of all kinds but I blame this on two games: Spore, in which my first creation was based off velociraptors, and Fossil Fighters where I had the V-Raptor as a staple of my team (it could posion its foes and that was super useful! also it just looked epic. just look at him)

2) probably sabertooth tigers? I love cats and the fact that we used to have like. big cats with big teeth is enticing to me. Also shoutout to the dodo bird because birds are really cool too
3) OK so I had to google 'extant animal' since I never heard the term before. Anyway probably any cat species because cats are epic. Shoutout to frogs and bats too

All these topics have been childhood dreams of mine! I have several books on paleontology and many, many little plushies and figurines. I'm a bit of a sucker for these things. The distant past and deep oceans are very interesting to me.
Though I can't say these are favorites I do very much like them.
1. Spinosaurus, Therizinosaurus, Deinocheirus, or Compsognathus
2. Quetzalcoatlus or Diplocaulus and other large, dopey amphibians.
3. California Condor

Love this thread!! I'm a biology major looking to become an exotic vet someday. As for the questions:
1. Spinosaurus!
2. Oh man, this one's a tricky question. There's a lot of really interesting extinct species, perhaps Chlamydoselachus goliath?
3. I really love invertebrates and lagomorphs!

Palaeontology is a little side hobby of mine. I'm not really into biology or zoology, but still love to read about dinosaurs and have some books too!
1. Big walking pile of fur called yutyrannus, spinosaurus due to recent discovery (what a beautiful tail omg), big chonky boy shantungosaurus and acrocanthosaurus
2. Dimetrodon!
3. Honestly all birds, especially owls

My time has come!
As someone who wrote a research paper (for fun) about the speculative evolution of flying dragons (and another on on four-winged dinosaurs)... my time has come.
1. Either Yi qi or Spinosaurus! A little wyvern and a big old aquatic crocodile-creature! Microraptor is a close second, considering it was the main focus of that research paper I mentioned.
2. Ooooh boy! We have Megalania (not the current name I know), Hallucigenia, Meganeura, Mosasaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, and many many more! Extinct animals are so funky and wonderful!
3. Yes.

Call me Requacy (Pinging Allowed!)(Note to self: Make art for signature)
Ooh.
1: Ankylosaurs, I guess?
2: Gorgonopsid.
3: Extant is harder ... going to go with Brown Hyena, though. Or if a bird, Lammergeier or European Magpie.

I'm thinking of minoring in evolutionary biology to go along with a degree in museum studies so I can (hopefully) get a job at a natural history museum, so these questions are right up my alley!
I also considered minoring in paleontology, but I don't think I'm physically capable of the required fieldwork. (Not that I'd want to do it anyways, to be honest. It sounds boring and painful!)
Anyways...
1. I love so many dinosaurs so dearly, but I think my top favorite is the kentrosaurus! (Minmi is a close second though. Stegosaurids and ankylosaurids are the best!)
2. Eohippus, I think. I just love thinking about how the ancestors of modern horses were barely over a foot tall and had a bunch more toes than they do now.
3. There's literally no way I could narrow it down. I love pretty much every animal I've ever learned about, haha.
I do have a soft spot for deer and antelopes though. Gerenuks, dikdiks, muntjacs, saiga antelopes... The list never ends.
Oh, and cats. I think I'd literally lose my will to live if I didn't have at least one cat at all times.
